Too Many Buttons (constructive solutions)

Unread post by Rawr »

So I posted this on the WoW Hunter forums http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/8568958819#1

So 1st off let me say I have been playing a Hunter forever, I have at least 5 I play regularly (yay solo mount farming :D ) anyways I have been looking at the issue of having too many buttons and have to agree there are a lot of things for us to in a fight.

Focus Fire used or left to run at 5 stacks really has no DPS increase either way so it's just something that annoyingly pops up. I don't use it at all.

Dire Beast. I don't know about you but I use it on CD, for me it's another thing to push. I would like it to be a passive ability, same as now just does it on auto.

Blink Strike and Lynx Rush should be put on the pet bar with an auto run option like all their other abilities. Speaking of pet abilities stealth for Cats and Spirit Beasts still cannot be canceled manually, really should be fixed by now.

Kill Command needs to be fixed. The tooltip says:
"Give the command to kill, causing your pet to instantly inflict [ 1,215 + 121.8% of RAP ] damage to ITS target and apply the Hunter's Mark effect."
Why does my Hunter need a to have a target for it to work then? It's really weird that I target can target something friendly and it will still work if my pet is fighting something else and if I target something in the middle of combat the pet will hit it's target with it and NOT my target. So really, fix it.

Eyes of the Beast. I really want this back, so do most Hunters who remember it. I think making it a Minor Glyph would solve this issue. If you want it get the glyph if not don't. Easy peasy.

Any other (constructive) suggestions would be welcome.

Just want too see what you guys think as my posts don't normally get much traffic.

They could just increase our haste overall and get rid of rapid fire, and focus fire. That's 2 less buttons to deal with right there.

I personally think we have too little to do. I always end up pressing the same few buttons all the time. I think we could do with a few more skills really. Most classes I play that are not hunters tend to have more (for me at least.).

I like the idea of this being a minor glyph, why not? They did the same with aspect of the beast right?

What actually really pissed me off was what GC said the other day....

any chance on removing some hunter ability bloat in 6.0?(maybe before?) seems too many buttons since MoP
We tried to remove some before but still get "Bring back Eyes of the Beast!" requests. We'll try again.

Really? Someone expresses their concern about the hunter bloat, (That yes, they have already agreed and said they may have over done it and wanted to re-evaluate/prune) And GC comes back with...
"We tried to remove some before but still get "Bring back Eyes of the Beast!" requests."?
Talk about a pretty snide reply, I struggle to find any funny side to it so I'm calling this just dam rude. WTF has people wishing EotB coming back to do with hunter bloat?

Some people may think they have little to do, as hunters are pretty much the easiest of easy mode. Pet tanking and auto shoot, yes it can be that easy.... BUT if you want to play it to its fullest, IMO there is a hell of a lot of buttons that are annoying to maintain and kind of boring. They have admitted RF could go and even readiness. Sure two less buttons to push every 2-3 minutes (admittedly Readiness has created a beast of a rotation at the start of a fight and each time it's off cool down, trying to get the maximum out of it) but that’s not going to fix the 6 sec, 9 sec, 15 sec, 20 second, 30 sec, 1.5,min, 2 min etc. skills that don't line really up and have you playing "Whack a Gnole" and hoping that your procs and trinkets line up with the big hitters and you don't end up delaying anything important.

Anyways, as much as there are some great ideas to help prune and alleviate the hunter bloat, it's like they actually don’t give a rats ass enough to really try and get stuck into it, and they emote that gesture via "well we already tried but you complained" by using a blatant "straw man". Nice work, props for trolling....

I'm not asking for buff, or nerfs or even to fix anything if they don't see a problem, hell, it's their game. Just don't make us out to be complaining about somthing we are not and that it's "Our fault" :|

I do find the class to be very easy. I used to find it really hard. I can't tell you why tho as I don't know why myself I just do

Agreed on the side point, SB. I suspect GC misread the original question or something, since that response doesn't make ANY sense.

Wow. And here I thought it was just me. That I was, and always will be, just a fairly average-to-good hunter who will never be great because making all those rotations line up and be perfect, so your DPS at least comes close to other people's. It's sort of comforting knowing it's not just me. It's true...I generally wind up playing whack a mole.

That's what our rotations are right now. Some people don't like it. I like it because it feels less rigid (even though it still is, kinda).

I personally waver between wanting to hit lots of different buttons and grumbling because there are too many different cooldowns to get out there, so I inevitably miss some.

I can't really say if I like it, hate it, or think it's good or bad. It is what it is. Hatari's the only character I've ever stuck with. All my other alts, in all the other classes, are all stuck at various leveling stages. Hunter is the only thing I really know. My surprise was mainly just...for years I thought all of you knew how to make everything line up and be perfect. It's a relief to know that that feat is something all of you (or at least some of you who I admire greatly) struggle with as well, at least to some degree.

Imo I think we have a relatively nice number of buttons, it's just more of a matter of timing problems. If they could sync with each other better there would probably be a noticeable difference. For all classes on that note. I don't remember too much timer rotations on some of the other classes but I've always hated death knight's system. Been a very, very, long time though since I last played one so I can't remember exactly if it was just because I could hardly scrape my way into the 70's or if it was just how they worked

Ahhh, you put it better than it was coming together in my head! This, exactly. I'm cool with the number of buttons, but not the fact that three come up at the same time.

QFT.

Through MoP raiding I've felt pretty much this. I used to be awesome mcleetsauce in cata and now...BOOM bottom of recount. I tried my guts out. Read blogs and everything. It all came down wether I missed that cooldown a second late or that one or I had a mechanic that was more important than watching 5 GCD's ...-.- My performance was very inconsistant and I was forever being threatened with the "improve or get benched" line. Sigh.

I don't think I'm bad. I know my class. I love my hunter and have played her since Vanilla. But at the same time I don't like being called a "carry" by a 200k dps DK either >.>

Just a couple of random abilities that could be changed:

Roll Widow Venom into Serpent Sting.
Roll Beast Lore into Hunter's Mark. (When mark is on a beast, the tooltip will display the information)
Combine Mend and Revive Pet. If cast with an active pet, it casts Mend Pet like usual. If cast while pet is dead, your character begins to cast "Mend Pet" to revive it.
Roll Flare into Explosive Trap. When your explosive trap is up (or if it's exploded and doing it's animation), it acts as a flare.
Remove Feed Pet.
Roll Tranquilizing Shot into Arcane Shot (every X seconds, arcane shot will dispel one enrage/magic effect). Glyph can separate the skills for those who want it.
Make Silencing Shot baseline. Remove Scare Beast and replace the Silencing Shot talent with the skill Scare Creature. Same as Scare Beast, but works on anything except Humanoids.

Things like Eyes of the Beast and Eagle Eye I have no issue with. They're useful, but they would never be used regularly, so no need to hotkey them.

That would get rid of 6 skills, 5 if you decide to use Glyph of Tranquilizing Shot to separate it from Arcane Shot.

Dk's are and always have been stupidly overpowered. I had a DK pulling 150k dps in this heroic, and the 2nd top dps doing 90-100k. Needless to say, we flew threw this heroic in under 8 minutes or less.

Nice list Myzou, my favourite one is actually the HM/Beast lore one, that makes perfect sense. I like the mend/revive as well, I have a macro for that one too so it would definitely work for me.... however

Again, GC says, Oh noes, but that would be a pvp buffs!

Ironic that is would actually be a pvp nerf if you look at it in a different light. It would also mean that you would have to have a DOT on a target in order to put the debuff on them, meaning if you wanted to have the debuff, damage breaking CC would fail on them.

Am I against this? Nope, I don’t mind so much, rather it be attached than not, but it just goes to show their line of thinking...

I think I'd have less to do if they got rid of buttons frankly :/ I feel kind of bored as it is  I would not mind more talents so I could spice things up a bit

Exactly the same as me. I love the idea of a DK, and I have massive admiration for the likes of Mione who proves how OP the class can be in the right hands. However the playing of the class is very clunky to me. It's the rune system for me that makes it a clunker class. I just don't "get" them as a resource and as a result I've never levelled one past 62 (where my current and highest level DK currently sits).

Does it get any better later in levels?

Then roll it into Aimed Shot and Cobra Shot, like they originally had it in Aimed Shot.
