Big Ban'thalos post tame bug?

Unread post by Quiv »

So I ran across a hunter who had Ban'thalos tamed. Heres the thing..

-the pet was the size of Ban'thalos in the wild.
-he had an apostrophe
-he had a silver dragon on his nameplate

WHAT MANNER OF SORCERY IS THIS! seriously though, anyone seen this? I asked the hunter but they were mute :(

I blanked out their name out of respect. I watched it in combat ask Galleon to see if it was using its wild mob abilities and it didn't seem to be.

Oh wow that is weird! Makes me want to tame one and see if it is a bug. My old 85 hunter has one in her stable might check when I'm home and let ya know.

This is a client side bug where your computer doesn't recognize the beast you see is a tamed pet, so instead it shows it as it's wild size, name, and elite/rare symbol if it has one. Only you will see this. To the hunter that has the pet it looks completely normal.

For fun I dug up this old screenshot from BC of a wild sized pet as well, and a big one.

Nope. It's random and pretty rare for this to happen.

I may miss my wasp being as large as she was but boy do I really miss her when that glitch was active!

I wasn't aware it could still happen :O all I ever see is my client changing all my pets' names after stampede (only evident when my friend spams confession on them, bluh).

I love encountering this bug :)

I remember questing in Howling Fjord and coming across an AFK hunter with Ironhide out, and Ironhide took up the entire cliff lift tower thing. Big massive black dino chilling out.

Yup, that's how it works. It's only a temporary thing.

Wasn't there a bug back in Mists beta where this happened to basically ALL pets?

I definitely recall seeing a pic of a full-sized Terokkarantula terrorizing Orgrimmar...

It was fun for awhile, but then it just kind of got old. On the opposite side, I went to the dwarf starting zone and nabbed me a battle pet sized snow leopard... Highly amusing!

I miss my Zaltana. Wild sized pets was the best part of MoP beta.
