Re: Varethyn's Mount Journal (About time! Onyxian Drake!)

Unread post by Varethyn »

Thank you everyone! Excluding Kith's pally ponies this now puts me up to 199 mounts! Woo!

As for Ony, yup she is very easy if you have enough ranged attacks to get her down in P2. The whelps at the start of said phase can be a pain, but if you're playing a hunter there is a cheap trick to get rid of them easily. Make sure Ony has threat on your pet and attack her at the very back (opposite the way you came in) of the cave and stay there with your pet on Passive when she wonders off. Then when the whelps spawn, hit Feign Death as they're coming out. This will cause them to reset, since they auto-target you and have no threat on your pet from that range but the fight with Ony will continue as normal. You have to be quick to FD on the whelps otherwise they'll pick up on your pet and you'll need to dish out the AoE :P
I tend, or tended now, to pop all my CDs at the start of the fight once in position to get the maximum amount of damage on her as possible. This is usually enough to skip P2 altogether.

AH cool I'll try that trick. I found Powershot was good at killing them when they where in a huge group.

Also again grats on the mount! :3

Gratz on your mount vare :D

Cow: You can totally bypass the whelps I find if you use a corehound as your tanking pet and pop lust at P1. I go all out stampede, dire beast the lot and find I can skip the whelps most times and once shes dead I find they sometimes despawn if they do manage to pop out of the cave :) I do this on my ele shaman as well (my partner has an 85 toon so I dont really count his dps lol) and I'm a terrible shaman so should work like a charm!

Re: Varethyn's Mount Journal (But I don't need any more eggs

Unread post by Varethyn »

Nothing major to report this week. Rivendare and Attumen continue to be jerks and I've abandoned Stratholme for the time being to vent. At least it's more bearable to get rid of the mobs that ninja-aggro me from halfway across the instance with my monk. Woo spin kick!

Anyhoo it also appears I forgot to get the Grand Black War Mammoth from VoA, so there's something to work on. When Wintergrasp belongs to the Horde at lease. Hrm, that's probably why I still don't have it yet. In the meantime I'm still farming bones on and off but been slacking again. I'm only at 3k so far, but I've found a decent rhythm to follow so I'm never out of things to kill. The annoying part? Another darn egg dropped! xD Go away eggs, go to those who want you. I already have all 3 egg-bound raptors :/

In other news Foxy Fighters have defeated Tortos and are sooo close to getting Megaera down too. Just need a few more people to concentrate and for our GM to stop ninja-pulling just because he's bored xD It also appears that my raiding-toon choice has finally been settled on - the monk. He's completely outgearing my hunter now so it's no contest any more. Just as well too, I can pull insane amounts of DPS with Ireneus in the right areas.

This leads to a small rant. There was a pair of heroic leather agility bracers on the the BMAH today which I had been watching diligently. All day only one person had shown interest, bumping the price to a mere 22k. Nearing the end I tossed on my bid and sat, waiting. Then right at the last moment some jerkwad Alliance rogue flew in and jacked the price all the way up to 70k. He didn't even need the damn things so much. Joy. At least all my gold is in one place now I guess.

Big, big thanks to Foxy Fighters' main tank and a few others for helping me farm up the last bunch of bones!

Congrats!!
I've sort of back-burnered my bone farming. Soloing on the isle is a pain for me, and it's hard getting a group together.
It may be a very, very long time before I get mine.

Same, whenever I try and farm I get bored after about ten minutes. It takes soooo long to kill even the babies... I guess that's why I've started using LFR now, for better gear, so I can take them down quicker. It would help though if I'd had so much as a single egg though, but nope, nada. I've passed 2k bones now and nothing to show for it.

Thanks guys. Yeah I also felt the burnout, having only solo-farmed around 3k bones on my own before deciding "screw this". But I'm the mount-collector of the guild and people always joked at me when I went to farm and so got worried when I stopped, then helped me xD Maybe if you whine about it enough people will help? x)
On a slightly more serious note, for those of you on EU I'm happy to swap RealID addresses to help you out. Or fail and doss about, whatever comes first. PM me if you're interested :)

I was going to suggest something similar. That we all Real ID each other and get together to farm the bones ourselves. But I'm starting to realize that many of you lovely people are EU, and I'm US. It's a shame we can't play together. I'd love to play with you.

I've always thought they should just let EU and US trade Real IDs and merge servers like what already happens. I don't see the harm in it. It would be awesome to play with US people. :/

So the guys that helped me farm the bones for the white raptor decided that wasn't enough, and kidnapped me to farm warbringers again! They were happy to let me have the mounts first as they were more interested in the rep insignias and bags. I'll be sure to help them get theirs afterwards of course :3 In the meantime, 2 down 1 to go!
