Same as above, it was in BC, it was a very funny guild mate and was the 1st year the Halloween brooms became available. He was very unlucky and never got one until the end of the event. We had been running the dungeon together and all on vent when he did get it, and he was beyond hyped.

He beckoned us all over to him. He was perched on the top of Scyer tower overlooking lower city, mounted up , kicked off...... and screamed all the way down. He didn't realize that (back then) there were "Non-flying" versions of the mount that dropped as well. Took us quite a while to stop laughing, find his splattered corpse and rez the poor soul.

Guess playing Aion for over a year and coming back to WoW and then proceed to jump of cliffs or even dalaran spamming the Space bar only to start wondering why I wasn't spawning wings and started floating down :S

I died so many times in those first couple of days when I came back XD

I've jumped off the top of the horde base in the starter zone in northrend on my alt on a flying mount...forgetting about cold weather flying which he did not have.

Oh yeah. Northrend is kind of a rite of passage for my alts in that way: Hop on the zep. When it zones in over Borean Tundra run off the side and hit space and...well hey, there's the graveyard.

I still plummet to my death now and then for two reasons. First, I use Autobar to choose mounts, which helpfully remembers the last mount you used..mostt of the time. Sometimes after coming out of a battleground finishing up the Isle dailies where I'd been using a non-flying mount, I'll go and leap off Thunder Bluff and realize I'm on a yak. I kind of wonder if I should whoop like Slim Pickens in Dr. Strangelove on my way down to the ground.

Second, I use a logitech game pad and use joystick-down on it for jumping. The up left and right are mapped to other abilities depending on the character. On my warrior, one of 'em is Shield Block. Unfortunately, now and then I'll not pull the joystick straight down. If the warrior has rage, he'll gladly cast shield block, which of course dismounts him. It's not usually a big problem unless I just finished Tillers dailies or something else that has me up on a high cliff.

For as much as that Grand Expedition Yak cost, it should fly. Maybe if I eject the Grummles from it, it'll be light enough. Probably not. Oh well. At least I face plant in style.

Ah, this is awesome.

But I have to admit that I have done something even worse.
I have bound my flying mount to the key just below Esc, and a couple of times I have been very very high up in the air on my flying mount, and opening my bags or something, and then thinking I hit escape, only to find out I hit the button below it.
All I could do was watch my character fall to the ground and go splat.
