Certificate of Ownership
Certificate of Ownership
Over the weekend, I decided to take advantage of the new stable slots to tame a few beasts I was after. One of them was Tyrantus. When I tried to rename pet, none of the names I tried went through, though I got no error messages. I gave up for a bit and returned to Orgrimmar and tried again. That time the renaming worked. Maybe it was just some bug with a freshly-tamed pet. I realized that I'd used my second choice for a name.
I figured that I'd just get a certificate of ownership and see if my first choice would work. Hopped over to my level 79 inscription alt and discovered he didn't know how to make one. I looked on WoWhead and saw that he should be able to learn it (he's at 379 inscription) and went to the inscription trainer in Thunder Bluff. It wasn't there for him to learn. So I hearthed to Dalaran and checked there. No dice.
It looks as if I can't learn how to make the thing for some reason. I've searched the alt's list of known inscriptions and searched through it to no avail. During last night's raid, I asked one of the folks with an inscription alt if the certificate still existed. He said it did and that he could make me a few. So at least I'll get to try to rename my new devilsaur with the name I want. Unfortunately, it still doesn't explain why I can't learn the thing myself.

Just speculating; I have no idea if this is the case.

A bit of palindromic wisdom:
"Step on no pets!"
Casual player.. don't raid, don't PvP. Suffer from extreme altitis
I love pets - combat or non.

Re: Certificate of Ownership
Just on this, I too have noticed that sometimes I can't rename pets when I first tame them, no errors etc it just doesn't take. The way I fix it is to dismiss and resummon the pet, then it works. I thought it was just me or the fact i use xPerl but seems like its a bug since 5.3Boven wrote: Over the weekend, I decided to take advantage of the new stable slots to tame a few beasts I was after. My Shammy at 76 has it, learned it through research.Slickrock wrote:Wonder if my scribes know that, and what they sell for on the AH.. goblin senses tingling...Bonita wrote:This is how I learned it on my lock.Sukurachi wrote:Minor inscription research?
And they don't sell really, at least on my server. I've been putting it in and out of the auction house for so long at like 5 gp each that I just gave up with them not selling.
Re: Certificate of Ownership
I suspect there's not much demand for them. This is the first time I've ever wanted one. Judging from the number of (oddly mostly Alliance) hunters I run into in BG's that have pets just named "Cat" or "Spider" or whatever, it looks like a lot of hunters don't even bother renaming them in the first place.Shade wrote:
