OK so I have been doing on an off tests to compare the damage these two abilities put out.
Stampede is, of course, 4 Ferocity pets and lasts 20 seconds, costs no focus but costs a GCD.
Dire Beast summons a beast for 15 seconds, costs no focus but costs a GCD.
I am stacking on the dummy and autoshooting. I am only using them together, so I will hit Stampede and then Dire Beast, then wait for CD to come up, then repeat. Obviously I am not looking at how high the numbers are or going for max potential dps as that isn't the point of a dummy anyway. I am simply comparing the two in an controlled setting (no proccy trinks etc). Waiting for Stampede CD is booooooringgggg.
Anyway, I found out that Dire Beast, in 15 seconds, does more damage on average per swing than all 4 pets Stampede does in 20 seconds on average per swing. Seriously?
Dire Beast was averaging 13.5k on hits and 27.5k on crits. Stampede was averaging 2.5k on hits and 5k on crits (x4 of course). At the end of one of my tests, Dire Beast had done 854,223 dmg in a total of 75 seconds uptime, while Stampede only did 922,921 dmg in a total of 100 seconds uptime (5 total summons on each ability). Again, only concerned with how they compare, not how high the number itself is.
Now I understand Stampede being clunky and trying to use pet abilities, I get that. I hate they changed it, but I get it. However... seriously? I know the only reason Stampede has more overall dmg is because it has 25 seconds more uptime overall. I won't be able to match uptime perfectly today, but I decided to do another Dire Beast summon, bringing the uptime of Dire Beast to 90 seconds and Stampede still at 100 seconds. Dire Beast ended up doing 1,005,161 dmg in 90 seconds whereas Stampede only did 922,961 in 100 seconds.
Am I the only one struck by how insane this is?
Dire Beast dmg vs Stampede dmg
Re: Dire Beast dmg vs Stampede dmg
Don't know what there goal was, but the major dps nerf to Stampede is why we got the other basic shot buffs. Yeah, Stampede is basically a lame extra CD you can throw in on long fights. That's about it. (Good job on the testing btw). It would be nice to see the CD reduced on Stampede, but if we got that, they would probably go back and nerf the basic shots again, which would be worse.
Stampede is gone. We need to focus on getting compensated for the major dps nerf that the Readiness change is.
