Dominance Offensive / Pandaren Campaign quest line

Unread post by Sukurachi »

(No Spoilers Here)
I was lucky (I guess? others might not consider it luck) to not have to grind through all of the Dominance Offensive dailies to get my reputation up with that faction. I just absent-mindedly did Work Order dailies with my farm. I tried some of the dailies (in the cave, far east corner) and after a VERY expensive repair bill (I stopped counting how many times I died), I just said "screw that".

Now, I didn't even realize there was a VERY cool mount that came with Exalted status. I didn't even know that there was a SECOND very cool mount that came with finishing a long quest line! A FREE mount, no less... so count me in!!

Anyway, I was already at exalted when I finally started the long Pandaren Campaign quest chain. Which means I basically got to do the entire quest chain in one long go (it took me two days to complete).

And let me say one thing: it was EPIC.

As a life-long Blood Elf, it was incredible to see so much of a HUGE quest line devoted to "my people". It was profoundly moving, and VERY exciting.

The quests were incredibly well put together, with many of them requiring you to understand your class mechanics very well (As a hunter, I appreciated that it was more than simply heavy-handed auto-shoot your way through the quests).

The preparation for the Siege of Orgrimmar was very exciting as well.

I don't know what the Alliance side of this chain is like, but I certainly loved the Horde side. I don't even know if these quests change whether you are a B.Elf or some other Horde race (now that would be truly epic writing!).

My only critique is regarding the very final quest of the chain, where your actions seem to... contradict the very purpose of your presence there. I'd rather avoid any spoilers for anyone who hasn't started the chain yet.

It was fun to get to do whole sections of the chain in the different locales, and I was honestly excited by the whole Dalaran part, and nervous as heck doing the Darnassus section (I HATE PvP with a passion).

I found the whole chain very immersive. I'd suggest getting your rep as high as possible before starting the chain. I think it works SO well as an all-in-one-go quest chain.

And the final reward is absolutely cuddlicious

Aghhhh I still have to grind this rep! I didn't enjoy the dailies so I got lazy and gave up and I'm only at....Friendly or Honored I think? I do really want those new wyvern models, maybe I'll try going for it from a different approach.

I too loved this questline. I was half way through the horde bit before I faction changed Castile so i was around revered when I started the Alliance side quest story.

The Alliance story is just as epic and if you missed doing it just have a chat with Prince Audin with the Black Prince playing chess and he'll explain it to you :)

I won't spoil it too much but at the end of the questline (which took me to exhalted without a single daily when I faction changed) but basically Jaina looses her shite and Varian is the level headed one, nice little role reveresal! They both sorta lead into the thunder isle storyline and ending confrontation.

In the Horde side of the quest we actually get to SEE Jaina basically losing it in Dalaran.. it's pretty awesome, and frightening. She goes completely batshit.

I liked that Dalaran quest. It really did make me hate those High elves.

Ally side, you see her actually calming down as Anduin talks to her...until the select elves screw it up(aka being forced by Garrosh). then she goes batshit insane.

The cave quests suck, hard. After the first time I was just passing a day if we got them. Saved much of my sanity and gold.

Alliance story is simply great :)
First you go to get your own james Bond disguise guy.
You fly around with a cute dwarfette.
You sneak around Garry's camp as a freakin' Grummle! Beat THAT!
You shoot a lot of belfs.
Again in Garry's camp, looking as a Kor'kron - this time you can come closer. /rude, /kick and /spit to your hearth's desire.
The Jaina's Neutral Dalaran scene (the one with Andy) is simply epic.
You go recover the Bell. And you die. A lot. Or maybe it was just me. (luckily someone else was doing it as well, so he basically did it for me. Still only passed this piece on my main)
You go tracking like a hound.
You get to shoot more belfs.

I might have messed something up with the order. It's been a while

Also, Varian needs this, badly:

although it may be oh-so-many-years-to-late :P

As for the mounts - you only really need to do it on one faction. My horde toons can ride on both horned winriders, even though I haven't done the red side (but can't wait), and don't even have red 90 yet.
