As someone who has suffered horrendous demises because of status effects in Pokemon Showdown, I must agree with Senna, Magic Bounce will be great for competitive battling. I dunno her defense in general but I know that I don't really like to run in the game with one as mine always seem to faint pretty quickly if I dont heal her every few battles. She reminds me of Zoroark. I absolutely adore em, love to use em, but they just cant stand their ground for long (which is depressing, Absol was one of my top favs from her gen). With Magic Bounce, though she won't exactly be much better in taking hits, she'll at least be able to have some degree of an edge if planned right.

Her ability is rather touchy though, in player battles, they'll know Mega Absol has Magic Bounce and wont use status effects just for that reason on her, thus rendering the ability useless. It's one of dem hit or miss because her Mega form -only- has that one ability (with Espeon, no one will know till they try it what ability she has)

The fact that they won't be using them is also a VERY good thing. Cuz then you know you got that protection to set up without fear of a will-o-wisp.

Then again...6th gen may not have the 'team preview' thing 5th gen had, giving Absol the element of surprise.

Fair point, but does anyone actually run Synchronize Espeon these days? XD Anyone who knows anything about competitive battling runs Magic Bounce Espeon, quite frankly. And even then, people still try to use status moves when they know their opponent has an Espeon, on the off chance their opponent won't predict to switch to their Espeon. So for a Pokemon who has it as their only ability, it will still be very useful. Predicting a status move and switching in to activate Magic Bounce will definitely be an awesome way to use Mega Absol. Since it'll most likely be a VERY powerful attacker. Even better, it has Sucker Punch! So an enemy either has the option of going for an attack and getting nailed by Sucker Punch, using a useless status move only to screw themselves over due to Magic Bounce, or switch out and potentially get mauled by whatever else Mega Absol has up its sleeve! I foresee Mega Absol being quite a threat in whatever tier it ends up being in!

And Magna brings up a very good point, we may not have team preview in 6th gen (Although we most likely will), and just because you can't trick your opponent into using a status move, doesn't mean Magic Bounce isn't useful! Just knowing you have a Mega Absol may stop your opponent from using status moves altogether, and if not, at least guarantees your Mega Absol safety from being crippled by burn/paralysis.

Does anyone know if turning into a mega is instant and you can still do stuff that turn or does it take a turn?

We also have the stat boost Mega evolving brings too. Absol already has the highest Attack stat of any non-legendary stand-alone pokemon....imagine it now with this form. Plus it may get a much needed speed boost!

As for cow's question...it happens as soon as you enter battle while holding the Mega Stone for that pokemon.

So what if someone takes the item away? I know there are some moves that can do that I think.

That is a good question..nothing's been said about that. If it is exclusively tied to the item...that could be another weakness brought on by needing a held item for the form.

Since Espeon's ability is dream world, most people can't actually get an Eevee from there or it takes like a month to do XD I don't have wireless so I've only been in the DW like 5-6 times and thus will probably never see a legit DW Eevee or any of their evolutions :( On Pokemon Showdown you can pick all these things as they provide full customization, but I'm sure a DW Espeon is a lot rare than you may think for people using DS systems (not even an Action Replay will get you a DW pokemon so you cant even cheat one in)

Predicting moves can also be a hit or miss, as you cant tell what the other person might do but it can def make or break your chances at winning if you have a Mega Absol to switch in but I'm never one for guessing games, but that's why I dont actually compete (I only went on PS cause a friend was addicted to it).

Having Mega Absol out as well does keep people who do like to maximize status effects at bay but they'll only actually hold back from using cripple moves as long as it's on the field so if they can find and exploit a weakness in Mega Absol or get lucky and bring her down, they'll go right back to spamming status moves. Regardless, Because of the sheer amount of status move users I've seen in PS, I have no doubt that Mega Absol will wreak havoc. Especially if teamed up with a Magic Bounce Espeon. Someone pulls out a fighting type? Pull out Espeon and go nuts. Someone pulls out a Dark type? Pull out Absol and sucker punch it to death. Dangerous, dangerous combo...

A dream world eevee is given away for free in B2/W2. Just beat the game and talk to someone in Fennel's lab in Castelia.

So, I cant seem to get the Eevee. What is considered Post-Game in B/W 2? I've been to the Nature Preserve and have my absolute perfect Shiny Haxorus from there but it was so long ago I don't remember if I beat Elite Four before or after. I also have access to every flying point on the map and have been to places like the Plasma lab that's by the original hero's town from B/W

Hmm then you should be able to get it. Unless you already have it. Its in a building in castelia on the same street as the gym. The nature preserve is cuz you've seen everything in the B2/W2 pokedex.

/has been preoccupied with like a bazillion other things haha

I do have the free DW eevee! And of course it's a boy....... and really awful nature. Bashful and is often lost in thought. -_____________-

Can you pass DW abilities through breeding?

Only if the DW pokemon is female. If the female in a breeding pair has a DW ability, it may get passed down to baby. Does not work if bred with Ditto.

F***.

Welp, back at step 0 if I don't want to half-arse a competition team -_____________-

I hate how pretty much every pokemon you're ever given seems to have some mystical higher chance to end up male even if the gender ration is 50/50
