Spartex's adventures for 200 Mounts; Tol'vir Patience Reward

Unread post by Spartex »

Hey there all,

Been reading quite a lot of logbooks and diaries about people going for mounts.
At first I was a semi-core raider with no interest in mounts but lately I've been playing more casual what opened a new world for me; Mount Hunting.

* Ironbound Proto-Drake
* Crimson Cloud Serpent
* Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent
* Phosphorescent Stone Drake
* Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent
* Raven Lord
* Winterspring Frostsaber
* White Polar Bear
* Vitreous Stone Drake
* Swift White Hawkstrider
* Jade Primordial Direhorn
* Time Lost Proto Drake
* Sea Turtle
* Ultramarine Qiraji Battle Tank

Current Targets:
* Swift Zulian Panther
* Ashes of Alar
* Fiery Warhorse
* Rivendare's Charger
* Onyxian Drake

* Vicious War Saber

I'm currently sitting on 130 Mounts and aiming for the 200 mounts on long term. I'll have to see how far I get tho.
Since one (and a half) week ago I've been hunting quite active with the following accomplishments already made in the last few days;

Image

Image

Image

Image

And my favorite ones - Camped for 2 evening (15 Hours) Aeonaxx

Image

Camped for 8 days - 21 hours a day with 3 hours sleep (sometimes 1 to 2 hours more after a spawn happened) a day!

Image

Unexpected Suprise, Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent Drop!

Image

The result of hardcore grinding & farming

Image

The sea creatures were nice for Spartex, 10 minuts of fishing!

Image

From the Desert of Tol'vir!

I hope you enjoy my diary & I will try to keep it up to date as best as possible!
Have fun :mrgreen:

Spartex his Adventures for 200 Mounts; Hunting Time-Lost!

Unread post by Spartex »

And as announced, one of my targets was the Jade Primordial Direhorn.
As I got the Slate & Amber one fairly quick this mount took me some more effort, it took me over 150 Kills in the last 4 days to finally see it drop!

Thanks - Getting there slowly with my current targets being the harder mounts depending on RNG drops. :roll:

Completed my last achievement for the Meta Achievement of the Cataclysm Raider today - another mount to ride along!

I have to say, I couldn't agree more. I love these dragons models as well & the colours are the finishing touch to it in this case! Thanks, much appreciated :D

In the past few days I've been quite busy trying to obtain several mounts, did some stratholm mounts but without results unfortantly.
Also did a Vault of Archavon yesterday, first boss & the Grand Black War Mammoth dropped but I lost the roll to my lil brother. Ah well at least it stays in the family ^.^
Gonna go for a serious camping trip for the famous Time-Lost protodrake one of these days, just have to find the right time to push myself to it.
In mean while I bought myself another mount cause my head said I wanted another mount to be added;

Image

More to come soon enough (I hope) =p

Edit: Well I quess I found my timing, currently going after the Time-Lost Protodrake. Readed myself up with all information I could find the last few hours (Thanks Ponderance :mrgreen: ) and I just started my camping advanture on the Frozen Lake spot. So far the only thing I saw today was a Vyragosa spawn (as far as I know) on the Ulduar spawnpoint which had been killed.

From now on I'll most likely keep you guys updated about my camping adventures.

Well - another day of camping passed by. Pretty funny to witness, is that people are really getting to know me as the steady camper now. Also made a couple of new friends, and as others said before some really nice & some really ignorant.
Cause of this I'm really carefull about who I'm spreading my information with.

Mean while some other friends (In real life) decided to help me a bit with the spawns, unfortantly 4 Vyragosa spawns today!
I'm trying to stay positive but Vyragosa can be really negative :|
From now on I will be constantly updating my finding at the opening post so I might give you guys some insight into this hunting as well.

The last Vyragosa Kill:
Image

Interesting about these last spawns is that there is almost a constant 5 to 6 hour respawn timer.

It sure is interesting, specially since I'm playing on a PvP server. Had some trouble today with a Hunter (Item level 548 :|) but luckly I have some very good PvP friends on my server who are willing to help out on that. After a few tries on different spots he decided to leave again.

Furthermore noticed one more Vyragosa spawn after the server maintenance (lucky for that it gave me some time to catch up on my sleep). Hope the timelost is gonna spawn soon in the same way it did for you Moila :D - Altho I'm pretty sure NPC will give me another heart attack first when it decides to spawn.
For tonight, another Vyragosa spawn at 19.50 - Have to stay positive, the more vyragosa kills the quicker it "might" spawn hopefully.

So far still nothing but Vyragosa's - had two witnessed spawns. One just after midnight (00:04) & one in the early morning (06:40).
Waiting for that last vyragosa spawn early in the morning took all my energy away as I had to give everything to keep my eyes open at that time. Worst thing was that I suspected that I had a spawn incomming since the average spawn time seemed around five to six hours and at that time a mage & dk showed up. The mage decided to annoy me with spamming Blizzard on the spawn spot but went away quite soon cause he/she got bored. That left the dk who eventually pushed me into spamming my target macro for 30 minuts but with a result. Vyragosa spawned but it was insta my tag & the dk wasn't to happy about it (Altho it was just vyra).

After that I passed out on the desk, quess that's part of it when camping it for almost five days straight 24/7. This probably leaded to not seeing one spawn around 10/11'ish AM, let's just hope it was not a Time-Lost (General chat seems quite silent luckly).
Screenie of another vyragosa kill:

Allright - I've had a horrible day to say at least. As you can see in my logbook the moment was finally there after 18 Vyragosa spawns, Time-Lost Proto Drake spawned.
As I saw it happen I was kinda calm but there was one thing I was worried about, it spawned at a friend of mine (level 89 druid). He spoke to me immidiatly and told me to come fly to him as soon as I can. There I flew off on my Serpent from Waterfall to Brunn Village - should be doable right? He had the tag and as I was about to fly into Brunn village when it happened, the moment I did not want to encounter. A rogue decided to show up behind my friend and he killed him almost instantly. Ofcourse he took over the tag and killed the drake, worst feeling I've had so far in this game. I saw everything flashing by; my three hours sleeping every night, the boredom I had while camping, the feeling of almost being there when it spawned - and these flashbacks repeated itself many times today. I wanted to write this story earlier but I wasn't even able to write it after the moment occured.

I was so angry, dissapointed and sad. Feelings I wouldn't wish anyone at that time. After I quitted my wow client immidiatly I went downstairs to the basement and I just had to hit the boxing bag hanging there for about 15 to 30 minuts. After that even tho it was kind of early I popped a whiskey bottle open and drank a glass of two. At the end (now) I was able through some hours to pick myself up again and continue this camp adventure, I just have to get it and I don't wanna give up on this goal. But the first vyragosa spawn after the TLPD spawn felt different, very different. :|

After I told the first part of the story, the part where I lost my tag I finally have some great news to bring! Today was d-day, a day that mentally changed me quite a bit. This afternoon I was beginning to think it was not worth it anymore as another streak of vyragosa spawns was piling up. It could be that it would take another week of settings alarms in the middle of the night cause the drake could "maybe spawn". Then the second risc was that I am still a Guild Master and many people had been asking me if we were going to raid patch 5.4 - which were the plans made before. All this together I was beginning to get tired, mentally exhausted.
Then after another day of four Vyragosa spawns something happened. The last spawn was around 17.51 and I was camping Frozen Lake. I had a very strange feeling. The spawn itself felt kind a long- this while I had longer spawntimes before. For some reason I kept having this strange feeling. As three other friends of me were camping the Waterfall, Brunn Village & Ulduar spawnpoints a guildie of mine came to hold me company. (great respect for my guildies, they came almost every night to held me company and above all, to protect me from Hordes trying to pvp me & my friends). I told him that I had this strange feeling & I asked if he could check the path from the frozen lake to waterfall to see how many competition I would have. After he came back, he told me there was no-one to be seen.

As time approached & I was having a chat about that feeling (Saved these chatlogs as well!), NPC scan went off again at my friend (sitting in the same room as me). It was again at the level 89 druid and how ofcourse could it be, Time-Lost Proto Drake was there again! Brunn Village tagged by my friend for the second time but this time I had a little trick prepared! I was stupid not to think about it the first time, I should have opened a second WoW client with my username and password typed in ready to push the button connect. Connecting with a second client on the same account disconnects my main instantly and I had placed several of my level 90 alts around in storm peaks at locations that would take some time to reach with my main. Quickly I logged in on my own resto druid standing next to my friend at brunn village. It was like history was repeating itself. My friend yelled at me that a level 90 death knight was hitting him from behind and he was close to dieing. But lucky I was there on time! Quickly as I could (with shaking hands) I spammed moonfire and saw the bar turning red. Then several seconds later it, it layed on the ground. Time-Lost was killed and by my druid this time! This feeling, this emotion of 3 hours sleeping almost every night and being in stormpeaks for over a week payed off, at last! The death knight killed me but to be honest I couldn't care at all. This time I was the winner, it was done and the chapter had closed with a very happy ending! Always remember: Willpower creates the way for possibilities.

Grats on your TLPD. Must have been a really excrutiating camp. I got mine before all the CRZ stuff and am happy about it. Still took 3 months to get it and then my husband found it for me - on his druid. Maybe Time lost loves druids more than hunters :D

Thank you very much all for this great support! It was deffinitly one of my biggest challenges in game & I even have to admit that when I think back about the time I spended in Storm Peaks, it was all worth it in the end!

Been a bit busy since I got the Time-Lost Protodrake with setting up a fitting raid team for the Siege of Ogrimmar. One of the positive points is that I saw you will get a nice mount when killing Garrosh before the next patch/tier gets released. In mean while I didn't forgot my mission though so I have been farming Sha'tari Skyguard Reputation in the few free minuts I had which delivered me these mounts!

Image

Another nice achievement is that I finally finished my Dailies for the Winterspring Frostsaber! I have to say I love this mount in the snowy area's!

Image

More updates comming soon as I hope I will be a bit less busy with my guild (that keeps growing & growing lately).

Small update once again. I had a very busy time with gearing two new healers up for our new raid group. Boosted both of them healers item levels from 440 to 495-500 so they are good to raid along tomorrow evening (Throne of Thunder Full Clear).

In mean while I have been working on the Operation Shieldwall questchain what rewarded me another mount, I don't like it that much but a mount is and stays a mount.

Image

To make sure the healers gear up the fastest way possible I farmed some Timeless Coins with them as well so they could buy 12 Mogu Runes of Fate. The runes will allow them to do an extra roll on every boss in the Throne of Thunder run which hopefully leads to a nice result in gearing. Farming these Timeless Coins gave me an extra goal as well, I wanna go for the Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent. It requires 100000 Timeless Coins, some farming adventure that will be the comming days/weeks. As for now after two days of farming I'm at 31000 Coins already (31%) - not to bad that is. Doing this farm by killing crabs & going for the rare spawns around the island. This leaded to a very nice suprise, a very nice looking mount joined my collection by pure luck!

Image

The Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent!

Image

And you just got to love outland, one of the most busiest PvP realms there is (Gives you a nice idea how camping Time-Lost Proto Drake worked out with PvP as well).
