I think, unfortunatly, that being rendered undead has left her unable to be anything but cold hearted. But she has always still seemed able to respect people. She respected Thrall, after all, from what I've seen. She had no respect for Garrosh, so she just did what she wanted. But I have the feeling she will respect Vol'jin as a good leader like she did Thrall. And as a good leader, he will ask her to stand down in the name of sparing everyone more bloodshed. Because like it or not, she knows if both the rest of the horde and alliance turn on her, they will most certainly win. And one thing she is keen on is protecting her people. After the cataclysm, and now this.. Azeroth needs some down time to heal its wounds.

See I've hated Varian since day one  He's so boring to me XD There is not a single thing about him I find that is not snoozeville

I'll just go be a Sylvanas fan girl somewhere else :-P
Do you like thrall? Cause if you do Varian is a similuar character to him. Both Gladiators, both prisoners and both return to unite their peoples. Also I think you need to play alliance storylines to kinda get to know him better as cinematics do him little justice.

Sylvannas on the other hand is just plain evil...she doesn't even like half her own faction >.> and undead as a race I just can't get into, all their quests are so ick!
No I HAVE played the Alliance storylines. He's still boring as all hell to me. We all have people we just don't like the sight of and he is that person for me.

So seems like there's a few things up that Varian wants to touch upon....

1. Make a Garrison new Theramore(I guess this is rebuilding it sort of?)
2. Cleanse Gilneas so the Gilneans have a home to go back to! (Hooray!)
3. Keep Sylvanas in check(I think Vol'jin would be in support for that, honestly. Sylvanas was kinda overstepping herself into Alliance lands)
4. Be more proactive! (All my yes, of course!)

Well, now.:

1. Uuummmm.....what now? Ah, forget it. XD
2. Gilneas was pretty dreary to begin with. Is there much difference? O_o
3.Definitely yes. I mean she walked right into the Dawn's Light Cathedral unseen in Gilneas. But hey, it's Gilneas, SOOO easy to launch attack on or slip into.
4. Oh yes. We all need to have more proactivity on this.

Varian is a bit boring to me. Like, SO boring. He's always got this scowl on his face. But his story isn't that exciting either. He was kidnapped on an isle. Was attempted to be tortured. Had his memory taken. Then was a pit-fighter for the Horde. They named him something for "wolf heart" in orcish cause he was the strongest or so. (which is where the title of that one novel comes from.) Later on something else happens. He was gone for several years running around in places like ogrimmar becoming a COMPLETELY different person remembering nothing of his kingdom, till he got his memory back and returned. So yeah.

Only interesting thing in him was the ship carrying his son crash-landed on the uncharted isle that was part of Pandaria. And Anduin grew up in Pandaria and later came to be companions with Wrathion the Black Prince. But that's Anduin's background. MUCH more intriguing, don't you say?

Also I have another opinion:

WHY exactly I don't know, but why would Sylvanas recruit rotting Undeads and howling banshees as an army?
I mean I know Banshees attacks like Banshee Wail effectively inflict Shadow to level 12's and all..

And Undead SO have some pretty good PvE racials benefits, but still....

Rotting corpses and screeching ghosts.

I would expect a blood elf archer, a Windrunner...

to be somewhat more professional than that.

Yet somehow spiting my opinion she actually impacted Gilneas with one of the ugliest races in WoW.
But Undead are just surprising like that.

I actually like all of that from Varian. If you pulled out his backstory and put it on a timeline, you can see how he started from the bottom, worked his way up, tripped a bit, then rose higher than ever before. They've developed him so well. I used to not like him but lately he's become one of my favorites.

And if you're a parent and your son is on a ship that could be captured by the Horde, you'd flip out too. :3

Lol, why I said that's the only intriguing thing about him besides the pit fighting times.

And I always thought Jimmy the Stable Boy in Northrend was his son, just found and taken in, but it appears not. :I

And I totally don't get all the "he's so awesome" comments. So to each their own.

Some find him very stereotypical I suppose but I don't, I adore him. The only alli leader I cant stand is Tyrande and that's because of my personal love affair with Illidan so...
