Re: Pokemon!
Again, I'm not exactly against Pokemon learning certain moves if it makes feasible sense, I just find it VERY odd for a move that was exclusive to Legendaries to suddenly be learned by a normal Pokemon.

For those that don't know, the Eyelander is a sword in Team Fortress 2 used by the Demoman class ((A one-eyed scottish black drunkard....perfect for handling explosives!)). The sword was featured in the TF2 comics where it was possessed by a ghost that is obsessed with heads.

Re: Pokemon!
I just got back from Eurogamer
X and Y was there
IT WAS AMAZING ;____________;
You guys are going to be STUNNED with this game. The combat is... I don't even have words... everything was perfect.
I got to use a Fennekin (YAY), Sylveon and Helioptile for random trainer battles and wild Pokémon fights and I got to mega evolve a Mewtwo at the end YAY
The mega evolve system is an odd but cool looking one. Basically, when you use your four attacks, there's a new button underneath you can press to mega evolve your Pokémon AND use an attack at the same time. It's weird because why you wouldn't mega evolve in the same round, I don't know. But it LOOKED COOL. Also, you can run in like any direction now, not just your typical up, down, left and right. Also also... you can decline trainer battles. All the battles I got into I had to talk to the trainer myself and say 'yes' or 'no' to a battle, so I don't know if trainers no longer come up to you or what, maybe that was just for the demo.
Also there were Pokémon running around everywhere it was adorable
There was a little Litleo running around in a maze and oh god it was so cute I cannot contain
RELEASE THIS GAME IMMEDIATELY NINTENDO I DEMAND

Double post cause I've been gone for two days leave me aloneMagnakilro wrote:Minor news regarding Doublade: He can learn the Musketeers' signature Sacred Sword move.
I agree entirely with Senna on this point, I find it a little annoying that the Musketeers' signature move can now be learned by an average Pokémon, REGARDLESS of how much sense it makes for it to use it. It was a legendary move exclusive to them, and now it's not. Couldn't they just invent another sword-named move for it instead? :/ Even give it the same attack power? Just not the exact same thing plz
Also Senna I believe in the Mystery Dungeon game Virizion is a female and in the movie she has a female voice. It's weird to call her an 'it'. x'D

Re: Pokemon!
Bah. Sure, PMD's Virizion is female, and the one from the movie has a feminine voice, but it just.. Bothers me when people refer to it (As in entire species.) as "she". There are obviously more than one Virizion in existence, and I don't see any logic behind them only being female. Not to mention, the species is based on a very much MALE character. Feminine or not, it really should not be referred to as "she", as there can be multiples of them, AND there is nothing to suggest or prove that they're female no matter what.Snowy wrote:Also Senna I believe in the Mystery Dungeon game Virizion is a female and in the movie she has a female voice. In fact, I like to think that the movie's Virizion is, while very feminine-sounding, not actually female either. I mean, hey, they WERE called the "Sacred Swordsmen" in the Japanese version, as opposed to, I dunno, something more gender-neutral. Besides, by the logic of the anime, what with all the "it"s flying around, I like to think that in that case, the Virizion didn't really have much of a true gender, but was just.. Quite feminine. (Which, of course =/= female, I might add.) And with telepathy, in theory, it could have made its voice sound like ANYTHING. It could have just chosen a particularly feminine voice.
...I suppose my main gripe is just people calling the species "she", as if it's ONE SINGULAR POKEMON WITH ONLY ONE FEASIBLE GENDER. Which it's not. It's very much an entire species, that has no real standing or proof of being only one gender, regardless of game portrayals. (I might add that, generally, the PMD games are VERY stereotypical with the genders of NPC Pokemon. Female Celebi, Medicham, Sunflora, Chimecho, Gardevoir, Lopunny, Ninetales, Espeon... Male Groyvle, Gengar, Ekans, Dusknoir, Keldeo, Hydreigon, Dialga, Umbreon, and so on. PMD isn't exactly great when it comes to defying gender stereotypes for species. PMD's Virizion is hardly any proof of the species being female.)
(Ahem. Forgive me if I sound a little snippy here. Currently rather tired, and as I'm sure you all know, this is a.. Slightly touchy subject that I am particularly passionate about. Legendary Musketeers are very much serious business to me. For the record, however, I am not exactly bothered by female Virizions these days. I personally loved PMD's Virizion, as she was an awesome character. I just cannot stand the stereotyping of the entire species as female.)

Re: Pokemon!
Talking about species, was it ever proven that there is more than one of every legendary? I remember there being a baby Lugia in the anime with it's mother but, in the games especially, I always knew the legendaries to be 'one of a kind'. And, for example, when Keldeo became a part of the Musketeers, does that mean every Keldeo ever had to go through Kyurem's trial in order to be a Musketeer? I dunno, I can understand it, but sometimes it feels better to say there's only one.

As for species, I dunno. I guess people are allowed to say what they want and no one can really stop them. If people refer to Virizon as a she then they're allowed to--at the end of the day it's a minor grammatical statement and until a Virizon tells people what they like to use, then it's not a huge deal if people say he, she, it, they, ze, zir, or whatever pronoun they feel works. It's a word.

Re: Pokemon!
Yup! I just go with It as in the games they don't have a gender XD I like to think there is just one Legendary. To me thinking there is heaps of them kind of takes away the legend part if you know what I mean. Like maybe there was more back in the times when all the fossil Pokemon where not fossils and what ever killed them and made them fossils did the same to the Legendaries and they are just the last of their kind and that's why they are Pokemon of Legend. But then thinking about it some Legendaries seem more like gods so there would only be one anyway :SAzunara wrote:I've always been of the opinion that there's only one Legend in games so it's not OP and it's purely a game mechanic. Granted, I'm also an RPer so saying there are multiples makes it easier when two people both want to play a Legendary, y'know?

Re: Pokemon!
...For the record, I never said that no one was allowed to say or call Pokemon species what they wanted. Please don't assume that's what I meant, okay? I was just explaining why it bothers me. People are free to call Virizion "she", I just won't be happy about it. XD (With decent reason, I might add, but oh well.)Azunara wrote:As for species, I dunno. Anyway, as for the Legendary thing, I agree that there being only one Legend of each species in the games is just a way to prevent them from being OP. I pretty much have the same opinion as Jurz, in fact. There can be multiples of each Legend, barring Dialga, Palkia, Giratina and Arceus (Although exceptions can be made for the first three.), and they can all be either gender, whether they truly are gendered, or its just that they prefer identifying with one gender or the other. (I like to say that the latter applies mostly for Legends like Registeel and such, since it's harder to apply a true gender to one of those than say, a Raikou. XD)
To be honest, I don't think there's EVER been any official statement or anything saying there's only one Legendary of each species. Not in the games, not in the anime, not anywhere. I'm pretty sure people just.. Assumed that it was the case, due to the one Legend per species per game thing. The anime alone has proven there can be multiples of certain species, such as Latios and Latias (As the two from the movie had a father, who was a Latios. The main anime also had a completely different Latios in one Sinnoh episode, too.) And the anime featured a Darkrai in one episode that was FAR different from the movie's Darkrai, and the later episode with the other Latios also had another Darkrai, which chances are wasn't either of the other Darkrai seen beforehand. Both the anime and the PMD games have shown that there are LOTS, and I mean LOTS, of Shaymins in the world! The anime has had a Suicune, that, unless the one from the movie suddenly left Johto, is far different from the movie's Suicune. Not to mention the Zoroark movie, what with its Shiny Legendary Beasts, which are undoubtedly different from the Beasts previously seen in the anime! (And I'm pretty sure it's obvious that the Celebi from that movie isn't the same as the one from the 4th movie.)
...Yeah. There is a lot of evidence that Legends are not supposed to be one of a kind. XD
