gear question

Unread post by Dulanie »

While running randoms hoping the crossbow from PoS drops I got into HoR, and got the boots and polearms from there. Needless to say I was stoked as my boots were lvl 200 at the time, and I had the polearm from ToC5. After that I did POS and no bow. then later I got into FoS and was hoping the bracers dropped for the same reason as the boots. Well it didn't but the scorpian trinket did. Here's where the question comes in.....

Is that trinket better then the alchemy one that gives 100 AP and 50 Crit rating?

alchemy: http://www.wowhead.com/item=44324

I'm not sure if the 100 AP loss combined with the potion effect is worth the added 64 crit and the ArP proc.

Scorpion is an improvement. That ArP is a nice effect, and it's got a good uptime too.

NES is a considerable upgrade. 100 AP is roughly 7 DPS so you're not losing anything. The ArPen proc is wonderful for Hunters and worth a lot more than 7 DPS.

Aye, the strong point of the alchemist's stone is it's effect on potions. And potions aren't really that great to begin with. THe alchemist stone's effect is roughly equilavebt to two seconds less vipertime ONCE per fight. Having that ArP instead is a huge improvement.

The Alchemist's Stone is a great leveling trinket, but once you're at the cap you need to adjust your gear priorities. And that means losing the Alchemist's Stone and replacing it with the NES for much greater DPS.

The reason you see people raiding with NES is because they haven't lucked out and gotten something better (Death's Choice, Whispering Fanged Skull, Deathbringer's Will). I ran with NES and DMC: Greatness for a very long time, replaced Greatness with Death's Choice and raided with NES for quite a while before getting DBW.

We don't raid with NES because we want to but because we have to!

thank you very much. I did not know if the proc rate was good enough to balance out since there are some that are rediculous.
