Well darn

Unread post by Akyo »

First of. Grats to Phyra that finaly got her Krush after alot of prep for the tame.

This morning i saw Krush alive for my first time sins i lvled my main through that area.
However..the realms was going down in 7 min for maintainance.. and i wasent on my main. She was in shatt. Also i never prepared for a krush tame.
But i rush my mains ass over there anyway, send my beloved Raiju(Skoll) on him, hit BW, abandom(its so much easyer when you see something that you want) and tame.
It fails.
I retry about 5 times before realm shut down. and i almost get him with only 1 or 2 sec left on the timer before he figure out its time to fear.
About 2 min before shutdown my pally friend logs on. His stunn would be great help but time is up. He would not reach me anyway.

I highly doubt that Krush will be there when realms are up again so im now wondering what to do.

I loved my skoll cause of his sparks and blue color. however he was dusting down in the stable.
So im thinking that sins we get more stable slots with Cata i might just wait with hunting down Skoll again and test out some petsm but If It doesnt click and i run into Skoll again he will be mine in a heart beat.

But til then i want to try other pets and i was wondering what you guys would recomend.
I have tamed all types before but few i have tested at 80 and/or kept for long, i mainly raid or just hang about so tanking pets arent a option. Already have Gezzarak and Ghost hydra. I currently use Cuddlebug(guild fav) my moth for raiding as well as my ghost wolf.

Im mainly wondering about Wasps, Sporebats, nether rays, as i dont see these fellas often.
Annyone on here use em?
Anny other pets you recomend?
What is your fav?
Do people complain about Devilsaur size? Are they annoying in raids? (i might just end up tameing a black one and see)

sporebats are fun for raids
Spore Cloud
Dusts nearby enemies with spores causing [rank] Nature damage every 3 sec for 9 sec and reducing armor by 3%.
is ok to not good if your foe likes nature damage :p
if you dont care about being top dps and you like something cute by your side i would say sporebat plus the talent that restores mana is nice to :)
i used to raid as MM and have a sporebat i was always in teh top 5 of dps so he must of being something something right :)

Devilsaurs bah people might nag about the size then again its a big dino its ment to be big! not small :p ive used one and no one ever complained thought his petemotes .. had a issue xD

Tallstider is another fun pet to have
Dust Cloud
Your tallstrider kicks up an obscuring cloud of dust, causing all enemies within 10 yards to miss their next attack. Lasts for 8 sec.
was nice to have and was rather cute :3 since i had the mini pet to <3

and i have had a thing for nether rays to :3
Nether Shock
Instantly lashes an enemy for [rank] Shadow damage. Also interrupts spellcasting and prevents any spell in that school from being cast for 2 sec.
again had mini pet .. mount .. and i do find these cute <3

I've played with Nether Rays, I love their personality (had the blood red one, named Bloodwraith) but the interrupt is on a rather long cooldown to be useful imo.
Annyone on here use em?
I have used rays, I rarely see sporebats if ever, and wasps are rare too, although cool. If I remember right, wasps make a constant buzzing sound--I found it relaxing & reminiscent of summer nights, but it might irritate some.
Anny other pets you recomend?
Whatever floats your boat :P
What is your fav?
I love wolves, really, but it's a shame they're so common.

Not so far. In fact, I find Devil size highly useful in keeping track of a Defensive pet during a raid--if he runs off to save a healer, I will notice his movement.

I love my devilsaur just for his size. I have the most fun enraging him and watching a huge dino stomp his way through enemies. No one's complained about his size.

As for what you should get, just try some and see how they feel. :)

I've never had anyone complain about Apollyon, in fact people are amused by him when I use BW, because it's this big angry red dino chomping on the boss's face. :)

I've used a wasp and I like their ability, but I'm kind of picky when it comes to certain things, and the way their butt kind of flops/separates as they fly really annoyed me, so I got rid of it.

I used a spore bat very briefly, I personally couldn't get into them but I hear they're pretty decent pets, and certainly unique. I've only seen one other person with one on my realm that I can remember.

I don't have any experience with nether rays, so unfortunately I can't help you out there. However, I do believe they're really more of a pvp-oriented pet, so not something you'd really want to raid with. You could, however, probably take it to 5-mans and be fine.

I'm probably strange, but I actually really like carrion birds. They do single-target damage plus an AoE demoralizing screech that lowers AP of enemies around it. If you don't have a warrior in the group that keeps up demo shout, the birds' ability can come in very handy. I'm personally in love with the Outland models, but I even like the vanilla buzzard models as well.

And kairii mentioned tallstriders, I love those! I often do my heroics with Rainey by my side, their personalities are fun and the dust cloud is actually a pretty handy ability for the tank. Makes leveling up tallstriders easier, too, or at least for me. I take my pets to that one area in Icecrown with the groups of undead guys, MD, send the pet in and volley away. They get hit pretty hard at 75 though, so any little bit of mitigation helps.

I say try out a devilsaur and see what you think! That way you at least know beforehand whether or not you'd even like a devilsaur. I tamed a brown one from Un'Goro before even thinking of trying KK in Sholazar. Had to make sure all that work wouldn't go to waste. :)

I agree they are fun to look at, ive tamed a few at lower lvls but never in the 70`s. they just dont click for me no matter how pretty their colors are. i might give em another try though. Just to check.

Ive always found em facinating, however the long cd always put me off so ive never had one for longer than a few hours however. like so many i want to give em a second try.

yes Wolves are my fav pet so my ghost wolf Lycan is highly loved :)
The devils size is whats attracts me to em, big pets are awsome. Just wondering that if i brought one to a raid if it would annoy melee dps/tanks.
But From the sound of it, it doesnt seem to be an issue.

I can't speak for raid settings, but I do run a lot of heroics on random, and I've never had a complaint about devilsaur size. Actually, most people enjoy seeing my devilsaur, she gets a lot of compliments and /pats.

I've run around with my Devilsaur in raids and heroics, and I usually never get any complaints. It's the occasional retadin, or once, a disc-priest.

Aww. Thank you for the congrats!

I'm so dreadfully sorry you didn't get your tame to go off. :/ You'll get him next time. :)

As far as pet traits? I've always done 'wolves' with their raid buff. It's only after I've filled my stables with random other pets that I need to find alternatives to them. However, I really can't add much that hasn't been suggested above. :)

ive been running around with tallstriders, sporebats, nether rays, carrions, wasp and devils now.

Tallstrider just isent for me.
i like how sporebats and nether rays look like but it just doesnt fit. outland carrion birds, i rather like em, but the blue Basin wasp and the devils with their massive size just appeals so much more to me atm. i want to have both, but i cant (yet).
The black devil with its blue eyes stole me i think. XD
Imma keep it for now and see how attached i get.

Devils can be a little obtrusive on smaller screened computers, and while it's a rarity, I have had people complain about Orotun and Vice's size. I like to carry around a stack of Baby Spice just encase someone says that they are having targeting or visibility problems, and if they believe the problem is persistent through the shrinkage I just swap pets. Though to be honest I think is more the fact that they can be distracting that I get the tells rather than an actual problem.

after lvling up my devil and testing it an a dungeon the puppy love dissapeared. they are still rather fun but it just dident click on Akyo.
Atm im playing with a giant blue wasp from the basin, been doing a dungeon with him and i still think hes a blast. Also i can say he`s Cuddlebug`s(my moth) bf. XD
I have to get used to a giant thingy flying about though XD; and give him a proper name.

BTW while talking about wasps.
Why are the other Basin wasp so small? and this one so big? Anny fear for that they both might end up tiny or big?

I supose the little one is cute but its to small for my taste.

The model doesn't have any info coded regarding downsizing when it's tamed. I'm pretty sure it doesn't growl when it levels either.

Aye. I think it's because the Wasp and the Drone use different skeletons. The Drone would shrink, as it shares it's skeleton with the Fireflies, who have size-info coded. The Wasps, however, use a different skeleton (A quick look at the wings and you'll see that the Wasps wings are bent.).

And yes, I miss the Queen too. Had her on my main, but damn, I want her on my alts too! That wasp was bigger than many raidbosses!

We all miss her tbh, sure I have her on Ryai but I would have loved her on Rosalyn and or Yas, most likely Yas. Why? Such a vibrant coloration and just overal a lovely beasty... and the only other model is a dull purple-black thing that looks like it watched to many Batman movies and thought purple was a good color match for black. Dark purple to boot :(

Anyways as it is now Devilsaur's aren't really a mob to be complaining about in dungeons. Mostly because of them being... fixed. IE they used to have a hitbox problem, this hitbox problem came about due to the fact the saur would grow and grow, and grow some more every time it used monsterous bite. It also seemed to have different growth rates, as Jareth, IE Mosh, would definately grow a helluva lot bigger than the normal saur.

It's also fun when he kept pathing and pathing and pathing back to be able to hit mobs, that Jareth pulled a boss... :D
