Re: The best WoW Expansion
I loved Northrend as a zone, and it's still one of my favourite questing areas.
Arthas' story was one that I was most interested in from the RTS games, so seeing that lore come to fruition finally was really satisfying for me.
Overall WotLK was the best era, personally, for a number of reasons.

Re: The best WoW Expansion
The Burning Crusade was WoW's first expansion ever....it will always be my favorite...
I remember getting my first flying mount ever (even if it was only the Ebon Gryphon...hahaha). I was probably the happiest little girl ever...
Even the raids were amazing...Karazhan is still my favorite raid ever made. I met most of my friends during BC.
Aww...i miss BC.... :p

Yes, yes, yes! The Fjord music gets me every time, it still gives me that feeling of when I first hopped on the zeppelin to Northrend and there was that vast sense of discovery and adventure awaiting.MaximumOverdrive wrote: She adored Wrath, and so did I. Agreed! I always remember it as the first thing I heard in Wrath, listening to the music on the boat (I'm alliance) while it went thru a tight canyon, a flaming boat overhead and a giant temple looming over the small town I was going thru. It was pretty awe-inspiring.Vephriel wrote:Yes, yes, yes! Re: The best WoW Expansion
Wrath was fun and all, but I really wasn't a fan of the whole armor style...My god the armor was crappy looking!!! Naxx was about the only place I could find that had -something- I liked. I think Death knights were about the best part of that expansion.
Cata was alright but it never really -felt- like an expansion...new zones opened up but for the most part it was all in Azeroth. I think my favourite part about the entire expansion was the 3 dragon soul dungeons. I ran those SOOOOOOOO many times on sooooooo many alts and never got tired of any of them.
MoP, I really love, the whole new cultural aspect, the Pandaren the dungeons, even the armor styles are nice. All those rares to hunt and test myself on, the environment, how every zone is so unique yet fits. I love this expansion almost as much as BC.
So, I am really looking forward to WoD and seeing those BC zones as what they "were" before outlands became outlands. and I really hope the armor is as sparkely and shiny and glowy as those in BC!!!

Re: The best WoW Expansion
TBC was really awesome too, it really got me going with the war aspect of the game and I became a very patriotic person for everything blood elf (not for everything Kael'thas though, I admired him but like all the defectors, I shunned him when it became clear he had ill intentions). Still am very patriotic for everything blood elf and I do my best for the various factions that have risen since TBC (still have so many reps to grind though /sobs).
I wasn't really big on Cata except for Vashj'ir, Hyjal, and Uldum. Hyjal for the lore and storyline, Vashj'ir for the zone, and Uldum for pretty much everything it had to offer. I love Deepholm for its environment but that's about it (with Vashj'ir I at least liked the storyline but was not interested at all with Deepholm's). Twilight Highlands was mostly a thumbs down for me overall. Never liked the Dragonmaw, never will, I only go there anymore for easy quests, rarespawns, minipets/tameable pets, and herbs.
Mists of Pandaria was a wonder after wonder and it really hooked me the first time around. The zones are gorgeous, favorites being Jade Forest, Krarasang Wilds, Valley of the Four Winds, and Vale of Eternal Blossoms (I like the inn at the Veiled Stair though). But then patches happened. Now I have little interest in MoP visually and the storylines have become rather boring during my second and third and every other time after the first around. I purposely don't do certain quests so I don't phase into the destroyed version of the zones which makes me happy given my favorite zones of Azeroth are permanently scarred by Cataclysm and Blizzard's decision to create new settlement and expanding advancement of various races into previously rarely touched places (Barrens and Azshara namely). But then, like I mentioned before, patches happened. And these patches have content that aren't tied to phasing. They're just smack dab right there. I got to enjoy MoP for like what, two, two and a half months? And then shit happened and killed my interest in the game. Very sad ;-----;
That isn't to say though I've quit the game because of the patches but it is the leading factor. Mostly just bordem being a direct side effect of the patches and my need to keep my money in my pocket has me watching what's going on from the sidelines. I would love to level the alts I still want to mog who have great backstories just so I can do what I love most and 'live' in my favorite zones. But I'm going to wait for WoD before I renew my sub and do that since I'm quite excited for it and will definitely like to do that content before it gets mangled by the first patch after its launch

I'll be waiting on the highland, with its wonderful serenity.
Where the stars glow and the brooks flow, that's my way of life.
When the mountains on the highland, and the nature is surrounding me, when the wind blows, that's all I need.

Re: The best WoW Expansion
I've been playing since late vanilla. The only thing I really liked about Crusade was the addition of my favourite race: Blood Elves. Otherwise, I REALLY hated outland.
Wrath was beautiful. Incredibly beautiful. And it was also the first time I really got to do dungeons and thing with a group of friends. So it does have a special place in my heart.
But Cataclysm... I remember my first day in the game like it was yesterday. For some reason, the changes, the disaster, the scars, the villages with dead people scattered all over (Camp Taurajo... I will never forget). I never thought I could be so emotionally invested in a "game". I was quite literally an emotional wreck for days after starting into Cataclysm.
And I love Pandaria. Everything about it. I simply love it. It's satisfying, I feel I'm doing something fulfilling, like I'm getting somewhere. And the story has an emotional factor to it that fulfils my gaming needs.
All of the above, of course, from someone who does not PvP nor raid, and who MOSTLY solos through content.
A bit of palindromic wisdom:
"Step on no pets!"
Casual player.. don't raid, don't PvP. Suffer from extreme altitis
I love pets - combat or non.

Re: The best WoW Expansion
Why? I have some of the best memories from that expansion. I was in a guild, full of friends, we raided together every week, had so much fun. It was truly one of the best times of my rather horrible life. I loved them all, and I loved to raid.
Sadly... They've almost all disappeared. I haven't the slightest why they quit, or where they went. But I do miss them.
Some still play, but we don't raid anymore. It makes me a little sad, but I am just glad they still play.
But that's why I loved Cataclysm, and will always consider it my favourite expansion. ^_^

I also really, really liked the cold atmosphere in Northrend- snowy zones can be gorgeous! I loved how your character's breath showed, giving the whole thing a very chilly feel- you just know your character is freezing their arse off.
...gaaah now I want to level through Northrend again.
(Don't get me wrong, execution/quest wise, I think Panda land wins out by a ton. But the plot never interested me, and the lands are so... ideal. How boring.)
