The underlying beast looks good. Really, really not happy with all the junkyard-style crap they piled on top of it.

And expect a LOT more of this as this is the new Iron Horde that we will be fighting for the entire next expansion. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the "Junk" armour too, and I love almost all things "techo/engineering". It just seems all a little shoddy and all heaped and welded.

I totally feel it has its place for SoO, but I as there is so much of it, am already a little over that theme/styling, and it already looks fairly prolific in WoD, We will just have to wait as see though I guess.

Yeah I'd say that feels like what the Iron horde will be like. Not very advanced. But I think it suits the name Iron horde.

Hope there will be a unarmored one.
And there's also the hope the chimeras wont be iron horde specific mounts so perhaps other factions have there own chimera styled mounts as well.

Oh it was more than just the "primitive technology" look. It was more the amount of superfluous crap bolted on there. The ugly metal tail club that destroys the fluid style of the mount, the jet engines that make me wince, etc. It looks more like it follows the same design philosophy as one of those over-the-top gnomish inventions, but those are usually used for comic relief. I'm not sure this is intended to be.

The engines/technology on this mount are of the same design in which Garrosh has taken to with him Draenor and used to create the Iron Horde. It's a kind of power source and you will see it on nearly everything they can attach it too. Gronns, Cannons, Weapons, Vehicles, Dungeons... everywhere!

The other thing that I'm hoping they'll fix is the noise of the engines on the mount. They clearly feature on it, they leave extra after burn trails after the "Loop" flight animation, they also fire more and less during different animation sequences... yet they have no sound at all? I find it a little unusual that such a unique feature added to an organic mount has been forgotten in the sound department yet features so much in the visual.

CE Mount or not...

The thing that looks like it will annoy me is the massive wingspan.. kinda gets in the way when you are trying to see stuff.

Once I can fly in WoD, I'll probably still be riding protodrakes on most of my toons.

Sorry people but I think that thing is incredibly ugly. The jets on the sides are also really stupid. They look more like propane heaters which would also be dumb. A living creature's wings would never stand up to the boost of a jetpack anyway. This is one mount I will definitely pass on. I say no if it's in the store and if it comes with the CE of WoD, I'll get the standard edition.

Sadly I'm one of those who finds it... well, really ugly (I cannot unsee it as a starving proto drake with its head and neck cleaved in half, flailing around), but that said if I can get it, I'll get it. Curse my mount collecting!

Yeah, it could be better. the heads seem a bit wonky to me, but the armor and rockets aren't really a concern, it's mainly that massive wingspan, with full flapping...

Looks like it is an incoming store mount as a preview of WoD à la Heart of the Aspects - > Mists of Pandaria






And in that thread, someone mentioned something that made me think:

On another note the Heart of the Aspects came out before Mists and resembles the Cloud Serpent but the Cloud Serpent has a completely different and more dynamic skeleton. Take this new mount as a prototype for whatever WoD creates next is gonna look ten times better than this anyway.

And yes, this could be true. After all, to me, the silhouette of this mount and the one in the Warlords of Draenor video that was our first glimpse at it do not match up, even if we count out the armor. Might it be that they are not the same model?

They seem to look the same to me. But I've yet to see a non blurry screen of the one in the video.

Neither the Alterac Brew-Pup nor the Fey Dragon are in the in-game store. Perhaps they added the Chimera for testing purposes only, and it's not really meant to be for the store. The possibility is there.
