Pretty sure it's a feature intended only for mounts obtained out of game. As you say, ones available to all levels. It's probably more of an "under sufferance" thing as they do seem a bit silly scuttling along on the ground. But it is amusing :)

Ok so it can run on the ground like a ground mount and fly but what really makes this mount so special I took a look at it and really don't like how it looks that green thing above its head is too weird reminds me of the Darkmoon dancing bear which I do own only to add to my collection I never bring it out. I am just wondering what really makes this mount so special besides being a rare hard to get mount.

That green thing above its head is the Burning Legion's logo, because the Feldrake is basically a black drake corrupted with fel energy and made to serve the Burning Legion's troops.

That's just it. It's not special. Only difference between it and other drakes is it's TCG. That's why it bugs me that I can't use my other drakes I worked hard to grind and get but anyone with a lot of money or sheer luck can use theirs.

I also wish I could use some of my other drakes such as my newest the awesome Black Drake as a ground mount I did make a suggestion to Blizzard asking if they could change it so we can at least use the ones that got four feet as ground mounts also not the proto drakes they don't got four feet lol. It would be nice as well as fun to zone into Tol Barad and summon my Black Drake just to run around like some goof I mean come on that Heart of the Aspects can be used as a ground mount and it doesn't even have feet to stand on.

Not sure on the sound but I don't think it would be a good idea for all drakes to be running around stormwind, proto drakes on mailboxes is irritating enough lol! Can you imagine lvl 20 alts all running around on drakes? No thanks!

That was why in my previous post I mentioned no proto drakes lol also I think in order for it to work you have to be the level it takes to actually fly one I believe it is 60 then again they could also just make it 90 when you are able to fly in Pandaria and are able to zone into Tol Barad that seems to make more sense it takes away those 20 some alts on drakes and still lets us have fun.

Still think it could go bad. You can technically walk around on them everywhere at those lvls anyway, its just you can't use them in "walk only" places like instances and lvls previous to flying. So you can already do what you suggest tbh.

I guess I just don't get why we can use some yet not all mounts as ground mounts when in fact they were meant for flying an example would be I am sitting at the Darkmoon faire on my Heart of the Aspects which is meant for flying and has no feet at all you can see yet Blizzard lets us use it as a ground mount maybe cause I got it from the store only reason I can think of.

Its because its a store mount and its prob not meant to do that (like the feldrake). The store mounts have a use of lvl 20 i.e. are supposed to be able to use as a ground mount for alts but yeah it probably shouldnt as it makes no sense why we can ride that and not others.

It still makes the gryphon sounds when mounting.

I honestly would not mind other mounts having this. Would love to be able to ride my proto and Netherdrakes around the place.

Using certain flyers as ground mounts is pretty cool. Restricting the ability to use a drake-style mount as a ground mount to the store mounts is not. Makes zero sense that a mount without legs can be used as ground-only but my Onyxian drake, which has 4 legs, can't, simply because I didn't buy it from the store.

It's simply because they want new players to be able to use gifted or bought mounts as soon as they're able. If it wasn't for that I'm sure they'd restrict them just like any other.
