Re: Movies that are just too sad
If I can help it I try and avoid sad movies. Back when I was a kid I had a whole group of friends that tricked me into seeing Free Willy (and later Titanic). There at the end they were all crying and I was like wtf...?
One movie that I remember that was sooo sad was What Dreams May Come. This was back when I was dating my high school sweetheart and future husband. Thank god I was alone haha.
Bridge to Terabithia is sad to me as well because of my kids. Anything with children being hurt or dieing gets me but I try and keep a cool face. It makes my son cry and I feel the need to be strong for him.
Yeah there was one Avatar episode where Iroh goes around Ba Sing Se and helps a bunch of people with his kindness and wisdom while hes out shopping for a pick nick. At the end of the day he goes to a hill and mourns and celibates his dead son on his birthday.

Umm.. Every Disney movie ever, right before the big happy ending...? It's a pattern. Happens every time. Stupid me decided to get out all the old Disney movies and watch them one night. ...
Yeah. I cried.
I tend to relate to characters.. Very well.. Movies make me cry easily.
Mulan made me cry, of all things. MULAN. And the Fox and the Hound 2. Stupid sequel movie, and I cried. *facepalm*
Oh, I cried in the Futurama episode with Fry's dog, too.
I don't watch enough movies to know many others, though. Just books. (Like Warriors. Saddest books ever.)

Gladiator and 30 Days of Night! Both got me at the very end! Curse you endings!!
Disney movies never really seem to get to me. Then again, I haven't watched any in such a long time...
Brb time for a sad movie marathon!

Mrs Ves has told me to add that Marley and Me and Beaches top her list and they will never EVER be seen on our TV again.

Oh! Princess Mononoke makes me cry every time! I can not stand it, the movie is so wonderful and it is my favorite movie of all time, but I hate seeing all of those amazing creatures die.
I haven't seen the movie since Christmas. Ok, I'm off to go watch the movie and see how much I cry!

Bridge to Teribithia, What Dreams May Come, and Braveheart off the top of my head. I try to avoid Grave of the Fireflies like the plague, that is to sad for me. I'll think of some more later.

Holy cats. I forgot about What Dreams May Come. Most of the Disney movies choke me up if not make me shed tears. The Time Traveler's Wife made me cry. Almost forgot that one.
I refuse to see Marley and Me because I know it would ruin me.
Love Happens was another tear jerker!

Land Before Time films (Well, the first few) were amazing, with that sad factor too. Epic films were epic!Chrizesu wrote:Anyone ever see the first land before time?

Yha I remember that book too. His heart exploded during a dog sled race and the guy who he was neck and neck with stops his slead gets a gun goes the OPOSITE way of the finish line, passes the kid and his dead dog and says "Anyone who passes me gets shot" and lets the kid carry his dog across finish line. MADE ME CRY!!! ....Kamalia wrote:Why is it that you always read depressing books in elementary school?Rhyela wrote: Oh and the Bridge to Terabithia book made be bawl when I read it in elementary school. That one and Where the Red Fern Grows.Bridge to Terabithia, Old Yeller, ect. My sister read a book the other year that involved a dog dying because it's heart exploded after running so much or something horribly depressing like that.

Hachiko: A Dog's Story (2009)
Rented it for a dinner night at the MIL's. Hubby, MIL and myself were sobbing from start to finish. Highly recommend the film for those who love animals and just want to get out their depression on their own merit.
...aslo made me want to tell our landlady where to go and get a dog for ourselves...
