I don't see what a Guild leader could do about this kinda thing.
The most that could be done is the person being removed from the guild, but that would be a bit odd. I suppose the G leader could be like "HEY EVERYONE THIS PERSON IN OUR GUILD IS A FAKE HERE'S A LINK" and ruin the persons rep.. But... That seems a bit uncalled for and childish. It would start more drama I'm sure.

They MIGHT have some info on the person.. But, with this whole thing, I wouldn't be surprised if everything they knew about the person is all lies as well.

Well, again the difficulty is this is all taking place on an EU realm which I have no way of accessing, and I don't want to make other people be constantly acting as the middleman and running messages back and forth.

It feels like this whole thing has its own momentum though now, and I think it'll be hard to hide the fact that they copied the character, so I'm sure people are going to start finding out eventually. They dug their own grave and all that.

Funny you say that Qinni, this all made me feel very unerved that someone would do this Veph that I armoury a few of my toons on EU servers..ya know just in case!

Two things...

First, talking about them will just over-inflate their ego and that may be why they did it in the first place. Might just be an attention seeking type of person.

And second... I have only read this thread once so I apologize if I missed this next part... but how did they know to come here and apologize, or even how did they know this thread existed if they don't come here regularly?

I've been known as "Pent" by many, many message boards and online friends since 1992-ish, and every MMO I have ever played I have been known as Pent... and I can still normally get the name "Pent" on any new MMO I play... but I have noticed that a lot of others are now using the name "Pent" on WoW (and other places), but not to the extent that Veph's stalker has done... as far as I know anyway...

You put your "handle" out there... sooner or later someone is going to see it and use it for their own purposes...

What needs to be done is someone should make a character on the other Veph's realm and in a few weeks ask them (if they see them online of course) if that person is the Veph from Petopia's forums, and if they say they are then that IS against TOS, I think... I thought I have read that you are not allowed to impersonate another person on the game.

Who knows.

At this point even if they are an attention seeker, I'd rather the word be out there. I never expected or intended this thread to become so long, but as I mentioned earlier I'm very grateful that it was somewhere I could come for support while I was in the middle of being seriously creeped out.

When I was originally trying to find a way to track down the imposter there were a couple people from EU realms who offered to keep an eye out on Argent Dawn to see if they came online. I had no other way of contacting them. Eventually one of the forum goers was able to pass on the message that I was over here and that I would like to speak to the person. From there they initiated contact with me, though the results were frustrating.

The name itself I'm really not concerned over. Names will be used by many people, I'm certainly not trying to claim any sort of ownership over that alone. The bulk of everything is what set me off, how not only the name was taken, but details such as in-game title, transmog, character appearance, pets tamed, the names of those pets, and even bizarrely personal details added into the roleplaying profile. Especially the roleplaying bit as they were actively stealing and using my persona, interacting with others under the guise of that character, and being completely disrespectful by doing so.

Again, I'm not looking to start a manhunt, and I certainly would not want anyone harassing them on my behalf. I am not going to waste any more time and energy after they clearly refused to cooperate with my requests and blatantly lied to my face. I said what I wanted to say, I don't have the power to force them to do anything, and as long as their cover is blown I feel better about the whole thing.

That line from me about the "handle" was actually concerning my name being out there... it sucks for me, but I also think "Pent" is some character's name in some book too... so I can't take the full credit for the other people using the same name, and like I said... the people who I have seen using "Pent" too are not doing it in the same way or the degree that this other Veph is doing it.


All I have to say is the other Veph should be happy that every 5 decades in their family the first born daughter didn't have to be named "Douchebags"... because that would suck for them.

As the token tall Swedish blonde on the forum, I'd like to say that's complete and utter bulldust. Never mind that there is no "Nordic language", even if you were to consider such a thing to include all the derivatives of Old Norse (which is interoperable with Old English), I know of no such construct or semblance in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Faroese or even Sami for that matter. I'm sure one of our lovely Finns here could speak for remaining Scandinavian language - I'm lost after "kippis"

For those grammatically inclined, the definitive in the Nordic family of languages are suffixes rather than a prefixed article ("the"). To make matters more confusing for non-native speakers, the actual suffix depends on the gender of the noun, where the gender often has no logical bearing, as well as whether the word ends with a vowel, and if so, which one. 'Phriel' is notably absent in all categories.

@Imposter: So you did something stupid. We all do at one time or another (especially as we're growing up). You'll pretty much always get found out in the end. At that point you can either 'fess up, apologize, and most likely be done with the whole thing, or you can keep digging. With experience you'll discover that digging is not the best option. Sour as it might seem right now, I'd really suggest that apologizing now is the best course of action. As you've probably noticed by now, it's really hard to stay anonymous online.

I read this four times...maybe its just me but why does it matter? Someone is impersonating you, take it as flattering and move on. You personally in RL are not threaten just some random person in some random European country copied your RP story. As a guild mate always says, our lovely first world problems.

For that matter look at all the Banards on the armory...who am I? A faceless Hunter in the mass of hunters . Now look at all the people using my name and even some fellow Dwarven Hunters using my old face/beard color. Its hilarious. ( once upon a time i was the only one... i was level 30ish when i realized i spelled Bernard wrong).

This could be some kid who came across your story and fell in love with it and wanted to be just like you....their hero. Or it could be some random person looking for attention (and look ya gave it to them).

In the end all i can say is at least its not another elf named Drizzit.
