Here I Go Again... (Rotating Stable Slots 2)

Unread post by Acherontia »

Well, some of you might remember last time I got bored in WoW. I had abandoned a trusty wolf of mine, and went around taming a billion creatures, taking screenshots as I went, and wound up with the same wolf in the end.

Recently Loque'nahak took to stalking me. I tamed him twice in 17 hours or so, and levelled him to 80. We had some good times but for various reasons, Regret, as I'd named him, was released today beside his mate Har'koa. I'll miss the fierce Spirit Kitty rawrs he made!

I intend to get back Rotclaw, my Diseased Black Bear, before Cataclysm hits. Meanwhile, though, I did a repeat of my old boredom deal--taming creatures I wanted to try out. This time, though, I had a theme: creatures that match my character and her current armor. Mostly. I did find some that I love, and fully intend to retame after Cata hits, when we get more slots.

First came Ironjaw, patriarch of the Terokkar wolves. He matches my armor, and I love that noble pose, but he has a bit too much slate-blue-gray for me.
Image

I then ran out & grabbed the rare, Death Flayer. I named him BadThings (for the True Blood fans out there!), and discovered Scorpids are Tenacity (I honestly had no idea, always thought of them as PvP/Cunning!) This is another pet I WILL tame again when I have the space. I actually really liked him!!
Image

I then went out to Silverpine and got this ugly fellow, named Spifdar. I like the Bone Spider skins, and I always thought of the Tarantulas as sort of fluffy. But they make a hideous squelching sound I can't bear, and this one didn't seem to have any personality whatsoever. Didn't like it.
Image

I took a ride out to Terokkar and grabbed Trachela. I LOVED her but she totally didn't match my gear. I always wanted to tame it though, and my oh my did she live up to my expectations. She looks great, and the sounds she makes when fed are ADORABLE.
Image

Thinking I'd try to get a version that matched my gear, I ran on out to Hellfire. This guy didn't even get a name; the coloring was nowhere near as striking IMO, and some of it was rather faded. I liked it mind, it just didn't have the same personality.
Image

I figured I'd have a run down to Un'goro and try to find King Mosh and give him a shot or, barring that, I'd grab a similarly-colored Tyrant Devilsaur. On the way I snagged this guy. But I was disappointed; the weird "new" idle pose still puts me off, and this particular hyena's face looks like that of a creepy old man somehow. :?
Image

Near Un'goro's edge I took this guy for a spin. A silithid! I love the blue-green skin, but a. it doesn't match at all and b. well, I wanted something I could give some kind of perverted name for five minutes. The pink silithid just always strikes me as phallic, or something equally mature. I named him Innuendo, which you can't see, as taking a screenshot of these guys is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement. They spend half their lives leaping out of your screen sideways.
Image

Well, there was no Mosh. OR Tyrant Devilsaur, for that matter. Well heck, I've my Valak for Devilsaurness anyway, so I ran back and, surprising myself, got Trachela again. I REALLY like her. I even found a way to make her match my gear >.>

Image

I think until Cata hits I may stick with her! I want my Rotclaw back, but I want to play with this pretty bird first too. I was doing my normal devil/wolf dps in a heroic with her, which as she was 75 and I'm BM, seems quite a feat. I can't wait to see what she's like at 80--not as high as them perhaps, but still very pretty and quite fun!

Here's another couple screenies for you, before I go.

First off, here's the size of a Silithid net on a Devilsaur. (I let it go afterward, never fear!)
Image

Then a pretty, and lucky, screenshot I call Taming the Beast!

How wonderful!!!

Seeing all the screenshots, I really did hope you would go back for Trachela, you sounded so smitten with her :3 And like I always say 'where there's a will, there's a way!' and the tabard looks great. xD I LOVE the two-headed birdies from Outland, they're the only ones I can stand really, and congratulations to ya in finding a new pet to play with. ^^

EDIT: I know that I love the way Styx (my King Mosh) matches my gear =D And I always have a matching tabard for those who don't!

Nice! I always think of doing something like this but instead I just browse petopia for hours and decide that way.

Congrats on bonding with the birdie. She's at the top of my retame list, I really liked running around with her in tbc. :)

I must applaud you for being able to do this sort of thing. I tend to fall into ruts with pets--once I get them, they tend not to go away. I just can't let go. I think it's great that you can shop around in-game and find the perfect pet for you :)

I've been known to do this. Hell I've been thinking about dropping Krush to tame a pet that may vanish from Azeroth (Since Krush will always be there.)

So hard, but I think I'll wait until Beta is released to see who's getting the boot. >_>

But grats on your birdy.

NEW SIGNATURE PENDING... SOON.

I love the Outland carrion birds; in fact, the reddish-brown is my favorite. Trachela is beautiful, of course, but I'm not as fond of the blue eyes. Green is my favorite color and the reddish-brown birds' eyes are just gorgeous to me.

Thanks very much guys! I'd posted it more as a little something to read, but yeah, the bird....

Fast friends!! She's now tanked a good portion of AQ40, Molten Core and Blackwing Lair--I was doing various raids today. I'd decided to go see how much of the Sceptre of the Shifting Sands chain I can get done, and well, now and then for whatever reason, tanks didn't have mobs or even bosses. Apparently a level 80 ferocity pet doesn't have any trouble holding aggro and surviving, which I found pretty impressive. She's 80 already, yes :P

Really loving her! I don't know what I'm going to do about getting Rotclaw back, I really don't want to abandon this bird :?

Some more images of Snowfeather... Just cause she's so pretty

Tankbird holding aggro vs a ~20-man 80 raid (no MD); I'm always so overly impressed by this...
