I know someone in that flight. it's my understanding their push is for the week after basically. While nature has dominance during their holiday, they'll be pushing for the following week.

Okay. If it's during the holiday, that's fine and dandy. If it was this week, they'd get slapped by not only nature but probably every other flight too cause that would just be wrong as all hell.

I bet Arcane is flailing at this point because of the post that someone decided to make.

Yeah. I think it'd be fun to have dominance for a week! I don't mind that nature's not very competitive. I like the theme.

Also, I only go to Tumblr for some art and aquarium/cat/sea cat pictures. I find I save a lot of sanity that way.

I in no way mean to be rude, but I'm afraid they're right! >.< And they're being pretty kind about it. I know you don't mean offense in any way, because you're a sweet person, but 250g is pennies for art- especially a full body drawing. I think the minimum people generally ask for, for a quick headshot sketch, is $5, if they're really underselling themselves. A full body pencil sketch would be at least $10 or up.

That said, I certainly wouldn't call you entitled at all. But they're correct about the prices of art.

Woah, that person was underselling themselves, then. But yeah- not your fault, you had no idea. FR is a very weird place for art prices and it can be really hard to figure out what to charge, let alone what to offer. x.x

What struck me here was the out-lash of this person. Tarn didn't go into someone's art sales thread, with art priced well over what she offered, and offered peanuts instead. She made her own thread, looking for an artist willing to work for such a price. If the cash is to little for you, don't take the job. No need to bash her like that.

I agree with you Myrrmi ^_^ Sadly, FR has people within its community that trawl the forums to pick fault with others. If I don't like or agree, don't comment - if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all! Unless you have been directly engaged in the conversation of course.

Honestly, if the artist wishes to charge that much, that's their perogative. Maybe they don't want to charge an outrageous price and just wanna draw for fun. *shrug*

Er- please- don't call art prices outrageous. >.< Art is fun sometimes but it's also a job. And for some people it's their only way of making money. But artists get a lot of shit for charging even minimum wage prices because art is fun. Commissions are a horrible way of making money- people generally want quick, cheap, quality art but that's just impossible.

That said, you're correct that it's up to the artist what they want to charge. Some artists are happy to draw for pennies, even for free! ...But you should never expect an artist to do so. If you wouldn't be willing to put in hours of very involved work for no pay, they probably won't be willing to do so either.

Oh no, I'd never expect one to do so, but I do feel some charge too much for sketches. I saw one once awhile back charging like 500kt for just a sketch. No color, no ink, nothin'. To me, that's a ripoff. I get it's work sometimes, but prices like what I just mentioned that make me go "are you kidding me?"

Onto my rant cause I'm flipping out.....

I exalted this girl by total accident! I'm sobbing and scared I can't get her back! I just bought and scrolled her with ES and UB today too and have been saving my gems for an iri scroll! ;-; I'm such a fucking moron! I forgot I was on HER page and his the 'Exalt' button instead of 'Feed Dragons'. *flails and sobs!*

Are you sure you can't get her back, Jun? If you go to one of the admins, they're pretty nice about returning exalted dragons to you, but only once. They understand mistakes.

I tell you what. I'm a professional artist. The SCRUBBING BOTTOM of this field is $10/hr, and with my current levels of experience, I rate $20/hr at least.

$2.50 for a completed piece is absurd, unless said sketch takes like five minutes or less.

Sure, a pencil sketch of a dragon probably won't take me that much time and I can probably do it for about $10 as long as you don't want inks/color/whatever, but that comes out to 1000 gems.

If I spend six hours on something, you better believe I expect someone to pay me for six hours work. It's even worse on forums like FR because you can't use those gems to buy food or pay your electric bill, which is where all of my commission money has to go. Basically, I'm taking food from my own mouth by even accepting commissions for a payment I can't use for anything real. /shrug

then again, that's why I don't do commissions on FR.... it's not worth the drama for as little as I would receive in return.
