I think Grazers could also work as a pet family name as well.
P.S I swear we are never going to let blizz forget about the quillen.

Herdbeasts and Grazers both work for me; then again, I'm a proponent of merging a lot of the existing families, especially with the upcoming pet ability changes/pruning. Not a huge fan of the "pet families A, B, and C provide the same buff but do it in different ways so sometimes you'll have a clear winner as to which family is better and it's not all just aesthetics when I feel like it SHOULD be pure aesthetics at that point. I would not at all be adverse to "goats" being renamed and more hoofed herbivores being shoved into the family but I know a lot of people feel exactly the opposite and feel that the more families the better, so :x

I'm probably leaning away from "herdbeast" and "grazer" now, as they do sound a little passive for an attack beast. I kinda like "buck", which can be applied to a wide range of ungulates. Unfortunately it's usually only applied to males, which would not necessarily be the case here. So maybe not. I believe the name should definitely highlight them as attack beasts, though, and not at the other end of the food chain :)

What about Wildebeest? I know it may make people probably think of these......

Image

........ but, the name Wildebeest is actually Dutch for "wild beast" or "wild cattle" which pretty much safely covers most of these.

and ironically, the word for "Savage" in Dutch, it is also written as "Wilde" .... just saying.

I'd LOVE it if they could add the dread ravens in some way, I adore the model. It could also potentially be another family that could be added to later, not just a "Dread Ravens" family. Maybe like a "Roc" family or something?

You could then potentially add others to it later like ....

"Roc" probably would be a good name for that family! Giant, angry birds :)

I think Blizzard's new partnership has gone a little too far. I mean, as a hunter main, new pet models are great and all, but... really?

I like the idea of taming stags and the like. Always loved them :)

Also if anyones ever seen "tales from earthsea" the bull like animals the army rides around on are pretty cool - wouldn't mind something like that as a pet or even a mount!!

Was looking at the Hookwasp Model in Model viewer on MMO. Looked at the running animation and screencapped this. They look more like the picture now haha I'm really excited to see the new Ravagers get the updated skeleton (I really love the things) and I'm excited that FINALLY we are getting hydras in this =w= so many things I want to tame. Hnnng... thankfully I have so many hunters XD

Ah now that looks nice. it doesn't look like its going to curl up into a ball and sting itself anymore. Looking forward to the new skeleton.

Yeah, that is a lot better..

and I'm liking the idea of the new ravagers running along side my similar Arch mount.

Unfortunately, all previously wasp models look like this mid-flight, there is currently not difference between them that I can see. If they somehow made their resting animation more like this then it would look a bit different.

The main areas of confusion are...

A) These new beasts before we knew what they were looked like a "Savage" dragonfly of some sort (with its horizontal posture in the concept art and it's long skinny abdomen, compared to anything else we'd seen in game)

B) Then we find out they are named "Hook Wasps" (wasps being the operative word) but we had yet to see them in game and could still look like the concept.

C)
At a later date, the in game model is then revealed, annnd it looks like a wasp, same posture, animations and the likes.

D) However, ironically, the file names it is saved as in the data mined info, is Dragonfly?!?!... which brings some people back to "But it doesn't look like a dragonfly, the animations are all wrong, it has no long thin abdomen that is indicative of them and also the original concept art... wth?!?

E)
But sadly, they have never been referred to as a "Dragonfly", well not anyone from blizzard that I know of, they are a hook WASP, so really I guess they want them to look like a wasp, with a hook. (Doesn't that sounds gnarly? Like wasps are bad, but with hooks?)

"Hook Wasp" almost sounds a bit redundant anyways since hook/stinger...

Anyways, I still feel like they'll have their own skeleton in the end because I see no reason for them to release a brand new exotic family that looks almost no different from a plain ole wasp that we've already had tameable for years. :)

Oh I completely agree with you Veph, I personally don't think that the current model, even if all the animations were changed, is different enough to warrant it as another family, than alone an exotic one.

And also coming off the addition of a completely different model (such as the new "Ravilithid") into the existing ravager family that looks so very different, (not that I mind, I quite like family diversity) it's a bit confusing. And as for an exotic beast, the new river beast or hydras would have made more sense to be exotics (Not that I wish them to be so) but at least they look potentially exotic or rare as we've never seen anything/been able to tame beasts like them previously

My post above was just to point out that I could potentially see them not changing anything regarding the new "Hook Wasp" model/family, and them still just saying... "But it a hook WASP" as a "Standard" sounding reason.

I also don't want to come across as ungrateful for the work they put into these wasps, they look really great imo, just not different enough to be a completely new family...

Yeah, I was just about to comment... that's how all wasps run. Their abdomens straighten out behind them :)

You summed up my thoughts almost word for word spirit. I would be really confused if these things became their own family as they are now.

I was just about to suggest "scary kosher monster", but that also highlights their position on the short end of the predation stick. Is there a maximum family name length? How about "beasts with cloven hooves that also chew their cud but are also quite intimidating but aren't Tauren"?

*whispers* if there's another ghostly spirit beast I'm going to scream and throw the art team down a cliff full of barbed wire and cactus thorns.

SO DONE with ghostly spirit beasts.

(Now, a wolf with, say, gaps in its fur where that flame-like texture shows through? THAT would be nice!)

Can we stop just making wolves and cats and stuff....... why not a Fiery Tallstrider of doom or a rainbow crab...... Yes if they made a crab made of rainbows I would play BM just to get it.
