WoD Exotic Pet Preview
Bendak over at Eyes of the Beast has done a really nice WoD Exotic Pet overview today, covering whats available on the Alpha atm. There is not any breaking news per say, but the images and write up is really nice and worth a look see if you have some time.

That's a good overview, thanks for sharing. It highlights that most of the exotic ablities boost your pet's ability to tank while soloing.
The Devilsaur's exotic ability is kind of a let down. In light of it being a tanking ability, Cannibalize could work if you're chain pulling, and spending 6 seconds between pull to heal/focus it up. If that's the case, they should also make Cannibalize boost it's size X% for Y seconds, stacking up to Z times. That way it wouldn't be used (as much as before) during raids, but when soloing, you could still enjoy a Devilsaur that got to be Devilsaur sized instead of raptor mount sized.
And I'll say it again, Silithid's snare should be 25 yards, just like the non-exotic spiders and warp lizards.

Thanks for the mention, SpiritBinder
I just made a small addendum to it once you pointed out how awesome shale spiders will be for solo tanking now with their double buff + shell shield. Turns out I also missed some other pets getting double buffs. It balances it out so every exotic now either has 2 abilities and 1 buff, or 1 ability and 2 buffs. I added a list to the bottom.

Core Hounds are starting to look like the new Gorilladin, or the vanilla boar: something everyone is going to have simply because they have better threat-holding than anything else. The only plus to that is that at least I *like* core hounds, and (no offense, gorilla-lovers) can't stand gorillas.

I've never had a gorilla pet, just because I dislike them so intensely. I can't think of one aspect of them that doesn't annoy me. I made do without 'em when they were the only pet with Thunderstomp.Kurasu wrote:Core Hounds are starting to look like the new Gorilladin, or the vanilla boar: something everyone is going to have simply because they have better threat-holding than anything else. Core Hounds, on the other hand, I love. I tamed GIR (formerly Chromaggus) as soon as I was able to and he's the second favorite among my 90 hunter's pets. If he does indeed end up being the best threat-holder in WoD, I'll be a happy camper.

Re: WoD Exotic Pet Preview
I honestly wouldn't. I would rather pets be at least *reasonably* equal in the 'YOU HAVE TO HAVE ONE OF THESE!' way. So I'd have to see how *much* difference it makes on the threat/grinding side of things. I *do* love the concept, but I worry that it may make them too important, or too exploitable.Boven wrote:If he does indeed end up being the best threat-holder in WoD, I'll be a happy camper.

Re: WoD Exotic Pet Preview
I do hope there would be new tamable models for corehound. I'd settle for a 2 headed fiery wod worg as the new corehound.

I agree. We now have like... 4 models? We def need more
C'mon blizz, make some "savage" kurken recolours, or a "shadow" purple lavahound for the twilights.

Re: WoD Exotic Pet Preview
Considering that the green and white core hounds first appeared in Outlands, I don't think it would be unreasonable to suggest putting a few different skins on them. After all, we'd already found that their skins mapped onto turtles, IIRC.

Re: WoD Exotic Pet Preview
I'd still probably use GIR as my go-to pet for stuff even if all pets were equal in threat generation or if some other one was better. I really hated it when we had 'must have' pets for raiding or pet tanking. Back in the olden days, for example, I usually ran with a raptor because I liked 'em. At one point cats were 'the pet' for raiding so I reluctantly tamed one and raided with it. In a bit of passive-aggressive rebelliousness, I didn't bother naming it. When I got tired of my friends asking why I didn't name my cat, I went ahead and named him 'Cat.' Later, when a wolf was the ideal pet for BM raiding, I went and tamed one and named it Cat as well. It drove some of the raid members nuts, especially since I used PetEmote at the time and they'd see "Skywatcher's wolf cat" does something or other.Kurasu wrote:I honestly wouldn't. It looks like we get revamped model of the classic core hound. F yeh Gonna make my Dark Iron Dwarf as my main in WOD just because of this.Myrrmi wrote:I agree. We now have like... 4 models? Re: WoD Exotic Pet Preview
It's the perfect time to add more colors. Purple, golden, blue, silvery; more than just "plane of fire orange" and "fel fire green".pop wrote:It looks like we get revamped model of the classic core hound. F yeh Gonna make my Dark Iron Dwarf as my main in WOD just because of this.
Off topic: I wonder if new corehound models means we'll see an uncorrupted Cyrukh the Firelord, the Draenor equivilent of Ragnaros, but presumably with a much better attitude towards mortals.

Re: WoD Exotic Pet Preview
I myself would love to see an Ashen Grey corehound with blue or red fire, and red eyes.
