Latest WCM change

Unread post by Wain »

Recently we made a change to the way you add characters on Warcraft Mounts so that any new additions or updates are validated against the Armory first to ensure the character is real, that the realm name is correct and that you've set a region (EU, US, etc.). Accompanying this, we added realm and region selection menus to make it easier. This has been in for a few weeks now with no bug reports.

However, just now, I implemented the next stage of the changes which means that all newly-added characters must also check out as belonging to the same Battle.net account as any previously added, validated ones (ignoring old, non-updated ones that haven't been validated). Basically, one Battle.net account per WCM profile, at least for the time being.

While this change seems to work fine when I tested it, there are plenty of opportunities for unexpected bugs! Please let me know if you encounter any errors, or if you find that characters belonging to the same account are being falsely rejected. In the case of the latter, please give me your WCM account id and the character you were trying to add so I can work out what's going wrong.

The aim of all this is to finally install an "update collection from Armory" feature very soon! In fact if there are no serious problems we hope it'll be the next phase.

If you'd like to be able to add characters from multiple accounts to your WCM profile then we may consider this for the future. I'm not sure how much demand there'd be, but we need to get the Armory import working smoothly for one account first.

Thanks :)
