Kind of off topic but has anyone seen any mentioned or perhaps suggested anything about a phoenix(or perhaps a Roc?) family to the devs? With the original phoenix, dark phoenix, FL birds and CM mounts along with perhaps Ji-kun we would already have quite a few mobs to work with and they would probably work well as an exotic. Even if its just something they take into consideration for later content I would be glad just to know they have not forgotten them.
I don't have Twitter but I have been tempted to go make an account and stumbled around just to ask this question. :?

Or just give us an epic, fiery, phoenix-colored hawk model and have it labeled as a spirit beast.

Of course, they could give us the actual phoenix model as a one of a kind spirit beast too.. but I think either models would be cool.

Considering Phoenixes are considered sentient-ish, it's unlikely you'll be able to tame them and honestly, I'm against having them be tameable. They're up there with dragons. Let's focus on non-sentients. ;)

*whispers* raptors

But yeah, Phoenixes don't seem like beasts to me. They're definitely more like elementals. Though if we got to tame Ji-kun, well, you wouldn't see me complaining...

...Have I mentioned I like Ji-kun and all beasts related? Maybe once or twice?

((I just mentioned raptors because this is a conversation we've had a million times on petopia and it's more like an homage))

Yeah, Blizzard made new Clefthoof and Talbulk models, even a spirit Talbulk to spite us.

I'd be all for a firebird family. There's certainly a decent range of looks now. But if so I think it'd almost certainly be exotic.

I know there's quite a division on people who like and dislike the idea of elemental beasts being tameable. I fall into the former camp. On the other hand I think Chimaeron isn't a hydra, just a hydra-shaped Frankendragon and shouldn't have been classed as one. What I'm saying is I understand that everyone has their own gut feeling on what does and doesn't suit and it varies a lot ;)

I think it'd be cool if one elemental beast family (pick one) was learned by a collaborative effort with a shaman. A bit like the way engineers write a recipe that blacksmiths can learn, but hopefully more interesting and involved. So in essence the shaman writes / creates something that helps the hunter learn how to tame <x>. Maybe gyreworms.

Lest you both forget the smack in the face we got in patch 4.3 with Gleok <The Untamable>. And we now have hydas. Yes it's VERY unlikely. But not impossible.

Quint (from WarcraftPets) mentioned it earlier:

She said it's in the journal for SMV. I just hadn't seen it there so maybe it's brand new. I had seen the skin pop up in one of the spreadsheets in the database a patch or so ago but I hadn't realized it was live!

I just captured one today, actually :) They're on the shore immediately northwest of Karabor.

Quick question. I know we all are excited for Azeroth, Thunder Hydras, and Chimaeron. But has anyone been able to check outland hydras yet? I love their look as well. :)

Raptors are only semi-sentient. I think Phoenixes are higher than them. But I suppose if they did allow it, we're not 'taming', we're 'befriending' or making a pact or something. But yeah I agree. Phoenixes are a bit more elementalish. Now if Shamans could summon one, that's be AWESOME!

How are they sentient? I've never seen an example. I'm not arguing, I'm asking a question. ;w;

For one, they wear jewelry; not jewelry others put on, jewelry *they* put on, and one would assume made. For another, there are raptors who are living in villages, and defined as such. For another, several of the Barrens quests refer to their intellect in stealing tools and the like.

Honestly, the jewelry is always the big one for me. People always point out that 'they're wearing jewelry'. Which is true: nonintelligent creatures can and will use decoration. But they're not just wearing it. They *created* it. They *made* it.
