I wish I had when they had their April challenge mode thing going. Unfortunately we thought that we were going to be doing it in a group, but that fizzled and left us high and dry

I found an amazing silver cm leader for ally side on open raid. she is a 9/9 gold druid tank named Lykenlova. She runs 2 or three cm events a week and is a very friendly, fair and friendly raid leader. I ran 6 silvers in one night and it we one shot half of them and I don't think we ever had to reset more than three times on minor effors. Also if you don't have the mount by the end of the day she will promise you a spot in the next cm you sign up for.

TLDR: if you are ally I highly recommend Lyken's silver cm runs on open raid.

starting next week I would be willing to tag along as an exstra dps on ally side if you need me. just talk to me a few days in advance as things are getting busy with my new raid group.

so I'm no expert but I do have a few basic tips for beginners now that I have tried out a few cms. *cough* learned from my mistakes *cough*

1. don't be intimidated and don't procrastinate finding a group. everyone starts somewhere and the clock is ticking. all the groups I have been in have been pretty calm and friendly even though I was pretty clueless. horrible, messy wipes are going to happen, you can't avoid it. its expected and everyone will mess up at some point and most groups will take it in stride. (I had some pretty embarrassing deaths but we pulled through in the end.)
2 invis pots are a must, as are flasks and buff food. you want to have 30+ min left on said buffs before you start a run. Also don't worry about repairs. you don't take durability loss in cms. woohoo!
3 you really don't need to worry about bosses. most of them are very trivial and should be seen more as mile markers than anything else. what you do need to worry about is trash. trash will put you through the meat grinder. you will have to use all your cds and ccs on them and sometimes you still die.
4 glyph and spec for ccs and survivability. as my tank once said "if you are not using all your cc's you are killing your team." some bosses and trash will require 100% ccs and interrupts so say on your toes. I had one group fall apart because the tank wouldn't take trash seriously and didn't rotate his defensive cds accordingly.
5 DO. NOT. RELEACE! if you release after death you can not be rezzed and you have to run back. never release unless the leader says so. if you are too far along or your invis pot is on cd, it can cost you the run.
6 DO NOT USE YOUR POTS UNLESS THE LEADER SAYS YOU CAN! another huge one. you need your dps pots to help you through important milestones but a pot at the wrong time means you will have to wait on your invisibility pot which can cost the run so just keep up good communication with your team so you know when to pop it and when to wait so you can use invis.
7 as many of my fellow petopians are hunters I recommend bm if you can play it. exotic pets can be a life saver and get you into way more groups since hero is mandatory and the quillen b rez can save the run. regardless of spec ask your leader what buff pets s/he would like you to bring.
8. ILVL WILL NOT MATTER! I see a lot of players advertising their ilvl but the truth is it doesn't matter. All your gear will be dropped down to a certain level regardless. some players choose to make a CM set, where the only objective is to get gear with as many gem slots as possible since the gems are not effected by the ilvl drop.
9 use your cheeky little tricks. speed buffs for invis runs, maybe a stray land shark, cammo or other stealth strats if you are worried about pulling certain mobs. just be aware. I know all this sounds intense and demanding but once you are familiar with what you need to do it can be pretty relaxed. get in there and good luck!

Ilv is not really important just try to get gear with as much gem slots if possible.

ah im not that worried about it tbh. my server are either wanting gold for either gold/silver/bronze - overpricing, or im stuck with terrible people fullstop who got carried and try to do it and fail.

I'm trying for one of these Pheonix' now. Tbh, silver isn't that hard. The inky trouble I've had was with Gate of the Setting Sun. Three of us died (all DPS) but the tank and healer remained. With around 10 seconds on the clock, the two managed to defeat the last boss. Me and the two dead were just laying there observing. I was surprised we got that one, but it's all good. 2/9 complete.

Just a note to those attempting to do these. You have to have done Heroic versions before you go into CM. I didn't I so that and we had to run the heroic versions first, before we could do the CM. When on GotSS watch for the bombs that are dropped. They're horrible. Watch for trails of fire, as it tells you where they're going. They would 2 shot me, and 3/4 shot a tank easily. Just a word for warning
Edit--anyone know how you get the other three colours in Draenor yet? Are you given another 3 eggs? Or perhaps you just buy them for a small sum of gold...hmm. Either way, I bagsy the violet one! Those red eyes are gorgeous and not many people get the violet. Not many people get one at all really Hope those who want one can get one tho. Good luck to those trying!
