Just checked, the ones in Southern Barrens (that occasionally have the battle pet attached) do not :(Kurasu wrote:I'm highly doubtful but... has anyone given the giraffes a Beast Lore to see if they have a diet?

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
I didn't figure they would, since they're *way* different than stags, but figured it'd be worth the suggestion! Sorry, giraffe-lovers.Xella wrote:Just checked, the ones in Southern Barrens (that occasionally have the battle pet attached) do notKurasu wrote:I'm highly doubtful but... has anyone given the giraffes a Beast Lore to see if they have a diet?

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
I am very disappointed with Warlords of Draenor. So many "rare mobs" but not tameable pets for hunters.
Would have hoped that there is a little challenges like in Cataclysm.
So i hope they have at least one special tameable rare hunter pet like loque'nahak or Gondria.

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
I think they mean like, challenge tames or "rares" in the old million-hour respawn vein, not that there aren't new pets to tame. And with that assumption, keep in mind they're still adding stuff all the time and that stuff probably just hasn't been implemented yet :B

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
Indeed! There's a *LOT* of beasts that aren't yet tameable. They haven't done anything like a 'final tameability' pass.
The announcement for the release date is coming up for the 14th. I'm going to call it: middle of September. Say.... to pull a number out of my butt.... September 23rd (24th for Europe).

Either BM non-exotic pets get extra skills like exotic beasts or BM hunters can control 2 non exotic at the same time, then we'll talk.SpiritBinder wrote:That and you would have to re-sub too!pop wrote:My undead hunter would be so happy! Too bad she would have better pixels than her zombie pets.

right. that i mean. I mean correctly rares, like Wrath of the Lich King or exactly as in Cataclysm.
So this Beta has not really for me what hunters to offer special.
In Wotlk there was per patch came a new rare pet. Yes it was only for Beastmastery. I whish there where also special rare pets not only for Beastmastery.
But in Cataclysm there was so many rare pets right from the start.
So this Beta and Addon is not so interesting and challenging for me as hunter.
Blizzard gives no effort about that in WOD.
I ask you and here, where do you get as a hunter yet to tame something rare these certain special moments?
Toth’tilac, Ban’thalos, Loque and all the other old Rare tameable pets were still fun and special moments, but now in WOD?
Other beautiful animals has always existed in the WOW. Yes, I know now there are a few more families that can be tamed. But no specials and rares. Right Rares and not this new system in 10 minutes clock or simply put down to a point.
What do you think about these changes since then?
And sorry, please do not abuse me.

Half the mobs that should be tameable aren't even yet. I'm sure they'll add plenty of neat rare pets to tame in later builds.

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
Yeah, it's pretty early to assume that there aren't going to be any rare/camping pets. Tons of common pets haven't even had their tamable status turned on, I think they're still working on this stuff.
The way the tiger's stripes are makes me think that they're not finished yet- the fade to black looks almost like they mean for the stripes to flicker and animate like the Void Wolf's fur. I'd love it if that was so!

I think it was the dragonflygreen model.Wain wrote:Could you tell me which model please? That will help muchly when I go searchingmoonone wrote:and there were green and orange striped wasps that you couldn't even reach - I finally found one close enough to beastlore - non tamable.
Unfortunately the only file extractors for WoD that are still available to us plebs require you to know the file name first. Some of these can be gathered from model data and spreadsheets that are also in the database but a lot are also from guesswork. I often now resort to a brute force approach. I have an enormous list of colours that I add to potential skin file names and look for all of them. I could still miss anything weird, but it's allowed me to find many that major sites hadn't reported up till then. But yeah, some info on the model would help a LOT

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
So I have model shots for the new looks of this build that have been reported, and some that probably haven't.
I can't know if I've missed anything, but I have:
Firefly model, four new colours:

Chimaera / rylak model, one new colour, yellow:

(Grrr, it has neutral-coloured wings like most of the others, so in practice they do look a bit similar).
Two new colours for the Pandaren tiger model, both with red/black stripes that look a little odd. The red looks like a partial swirl effect that doesn't follow the line of the stripes. They're even bleeding red from the black of their eyelids. Perhaps they're meant to be that way, but it's also possible they're not the finished product:

At least four new colours for the existing moth model. This is excluding new combinations of existing wings and bodies.
Purple dread raven.

Finally, the Fel Wolf model. It seems to be similar in format to the shadow and fire wolf models, in that it appears that it should have an aura effect which isn't being displayed in WMV:

Oh yeah, that orange firefly is awesome. I hate the firefly model, but I'm totally grabbing the orange color just because orange is the best.
Red and White moth is possibly my favorite color combo. It just looks ready to kick some butt. Now, if there was a blue body with white and red wings, I'd totally use that one.

I noticed that Deers have diets, but are they ACTUALLY meant to be tamable or are they just like "baby"non tamable mobs like the baby hippo.
Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
So far the 'doe' type deers are untamable, probably because they're too low-rez. Gazelles, stags, zombie stags, caribou, and talbuk are all under the stag label. I'm actually surprised the gazelles are tamable currently but I'm not arguing.

Muffinus: Here's a whole bunch of new colorations, 3 new families (counting hydras), several new models.. and more!
Petopia community: Well I'd really like to tame that one, but there's a slight hitch in the model if you zoom in, and the resused an old texture for that one that obviously doesn't fit and it's at least 3 shades too cyan and really the beast has no reason to be in that zone it's like they don't even study ecosystems and we need more stable slot fewer stable slots and I want that one there why wasn't that included and we really should have given us this family instead and I know I could build a better model than that and....
