However, another way to consider it might be that they have already stretched their interpretation of what is alive purely to get us more cool things. There's certainly no benefit to them. So if they're tameable, but something a bit more skeletal isn't, we might have to be content that that is their limitsAnd ghost pets by the dozens! I DONT BUY IT BLIZZARD. >:(

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
I would never want the current undead to be removed, I personally love them and don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but it has always struck me as odd that we can tame them. I know they are undead versions of beasts, but WoW has a different npc category for undead. I guess its just the inconsistency that confuses me. Why a handful of skeletal/rotting/ghost beasts but not others? I guess one could use that argument to also say "why tame one beast but not another?" Ultimately, its their game and they can use any reasoning they wish. Just always struck me as odd, but hey, no complaints here!
Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
I found a tameable crab that wowhead hasn't datamined yet! Spiny Slitshell - GORGEOUS model. I tamed her right away of course!
They are neutral mobs, very sparse, up on the north east coast of Gorgrond, past beyond the Everbloom area.

Has tanky ability Harden Shell <3 Quite a nice little tanky pet! No buffs though.

Oh no no, I'd argue to add the rest of the ghosty/skeletal/zombie beasts. Skeletal raptors, wind serpents, etc. I mean, especially the windserpent. It's more or less the same as the undead bird. Bird has feathers, wind serpent has some skin! I'm just a big fan of the 'undead' beasties, and would love to see more available, cough cough raptor.Wain wrote:In which case you're arguing for the removal of all of them?Aettis wrote:I find that reasoning very odd. For me, yes, it's the inconsistency that gibbles my jibblies. Why is Arcturis (transparent ghost bear) a Beast while the solid version of his exact same skin is undead? Why are zombie hawks (eyeless piles of bone with some feathers stuck on) okay and the windserpents not? The zombie wolf and bear have always been tamable and thus suddenly changing them ten years later is a ridiculous suggestion, but with the addition of zombie -hunters- it would make sense to ADD more undead-type beasts than remove them.
someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket
Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
Yeah, I'm just saying that maybe they're already stretching the interpretation of what looks alive purely to be good to us, so turning it back on them and saying "you're inconsistent, these things should be too" might not be the nicest way to approach it. If we get more, then cool. And it's always worth supporting your love of these things and suggesting more. But sometimes I feel like we're taking a gift and using it to mug them
As for the spirit bear, I know it seems odd on the surface. Those solid bears could have always been interpreted as sickly rather than dead, but they decided not to. However I always got the impression that spirit beasts were meant to be "spirits" in the sense of a loa or spiritual being, rather than a ghost. I don't think they were intended to be dead. I can't provide any support evidence for that opinion, however, except that our very first spirit beast was definitely mentioned to be the mate of an animal god.

While I appreciate the discussion on skeletal windserpents not being pets or being pets, how about moving this to its own thread, since it's taking over?

Come see Kurasu's stables!

Oof idk how to search a thread but I found a silly rylak which i think is hiding the treasure I'm attempting to find.
Lil Roardan sitting in a nest on top of a bigarse red mushroom in the Crimson Fen in Gorgrond. There's a Vindicators HAmmer item I am attempting to locate and I happened to see him right where it should be.
--Found out how to get up there after taking initial screens, I remembered the shredder has a temporary flight option.
--- Okay imgur wont finish uploading the second shot so I'll have to fix it tomorrow.

The white bats in Frostfire are now tamable. I remember seeing someone saying there were no tamable new-model bats, and all the ones I checked before now were not flagged.

Hah, I linked shots of that earlier on as well. Went to the northern surrounding mountains at that area and then jumped from 'shroom to 'shroom.

I'm not sure if it's been pointed out before or just accepted as obvious, but Roardan = Rodan?

Re: Potential new hunter pets in WoD
Does anyone know which specific rylak has the new rylak abilities? I swear I saw a hunter the other day with the Savage Vigor buff, but all the rylaks I try are still coming up as chimaeras. I think it was a red one.
