Cata spirit beasts, more?

Unread post by Shandorei »

Hunters will now have two types of attainable pets: active pets and stored pets.
Hunters will be able to have up to three active pets (perhaps five for Beast Mastery specialized players) and will have the ability to switch among these pets any time they are out of combat, without going to town. They will also be able to have a large number of pets in storage at the stables. In order to swap a pet from active to passive, a hunter will still need to visit their local Stable Master. However, this should afford ample storage for the many Spirit Beasts wandering the lands of Azeroth.

Last sentence, this means new spirit beasts will arrive? Or are they meaning the current ones you can get? If it comes more, I don't really know how to react, seeing as spirit beasts will become less rare, I for one have seen a lot of Loque's running around in the cities :-( :?

I could imagine they'll keep building up the spirit beast family. I doubt they'd develop an entirely new beast/pet family and only use it for one expansion.

Edit: and I agree with you to some extent. It gets a little... "normal" to see the spirit beasts. Right now, I get excited to see Arcturis and King Krush in Dal, they seem to be the big rares. But really, most hunters on my realm seem to be running around with wolves anyway. :| Anyway! Yes, I think it'd be great to have more variety in that family, for that reason alone. I love me some more spirit beasties. :)

Frankly, unless they do more to add viability to the spirit beasts, I'd rather see them add more rares to other pet families. It's sad to have the spirit beasts, but never use them that much.

I'm actually hoping that normalize each pet tree, so that any family from each tree will be viable, and we can have the choice in talents.

If all the ferocity pets did the same base damage, and the remaining dps came from talents assigned, at least we wouldn't have to have 5 wolfs in a raid and nothing else.

Admittedly, it's going to be hard to normalize, and maybe not practical, considering some of the special abilities like prowl and disarm.

However, some sort of normalization would probably help with scaling, which is where we usually get the shaft.

Indeed, very special and rear (specially exotic beasts) -SHOULD- have even more power than they do, I wouldn't see a big problem in that considering BM raiding is broken, and quite honestly we aren't that OP in PvP any longer, a buff would not hurt the class balance much.

And yeah, Sarayana, KK and that fat bear is the rarest, but I find Loque more rare considering I've camped the beast a total of 4 days playtime +++ ;p

Buff exotics and much rarer beasts I'd say

There are tons of SB's on Velen... Skoll and Arcturis being the most common. That's why even tho I have all 4 spirit beasts, I run around with Aotona out. I can't tell you how many lvl 80 Hunters stop me and ask about her. Then there's all the non hunters...lol

No. No more god damn rares. I'm tired of having to plot and plan over how I'm going to tame Krush once Cata comes out, and hope, I'll be able to do so. And manage to also get my two friends online at the same time on their priest and shammy. I am sick and tired of always checking river's heart and never seeing Aotona. And just countless farmbots no matter when or where I go. Ontop of other hunters and achievement campers.

No. More. Rares.

Atleast, no more rares of ONE ANIMAL. I'm sick to death of being told by blizzard that it's the 'ultimate hunter thrill' when all it leads to 99% of the time is me going bonkers from lack of sleep and sitting infront of a computer screen for 16 hours straight.

I dunno one the one side hunting rares i find is fun on the other I'm sick of hunters yelling at me for "being greedy" for wanting the frostbiten thing when to me yelling at someone else for killing something they had all right to kill just cos you want a "fancy" skin for your pet is very greedy and rude. I don't care if you are BM and want a fancy skined pet don't yell at me for killing a rare i found first.

It could be the fact they might think you're just a camper of rares as not really does everyone stop at killing a rare once, even if tameable and even if someone else could be looking to tame it. Because I've seen people gloat about killing rares infront of hunters, and even had a priest tell one of my lowbie hunters to go tame a 'really rare cat' and then right after, gloated about killing it right infront of a hunter who wanted it.

Edit: I am guessing the cat mentioned was either Humar or Dishu

I think they should make the next spirit beast part of a BM hunter only quest. Some nice multipart questline that ends with you needing getting help from a SB to take out a boss, then it deciding to aid you in further quests. So I guess in reality, you're not actually "taming" but if you can survive the questline you get a new pet. The more I think of it, the more I think it would be a ton of fun.

What FuzzyDolly said could have been interesting, also it would sound better than camping for 4 days playtime (Yeah no shit, didn't even get the freakin tame cuz I gave up)

I think they will make new spirit beasts, but that those new cata spirit beasts will be all red/orange instead of blue, as all WoTLK spirit beasts are blue. I think it will be red, because WoTLK was icy(blue) and cata has more fire and stuff(red.) Maybe they will even make a different pet family for those cata beasts.

Lol Ryai, I feel your pain. /pat But even still, I'm a glutton for punishment, so I would like to see more rares in Cataclysm. I both love and hate rare camping. It's a pain when you're out there doing it, but it's a joy when you finally have the pet (and for some people it takes longer than others). But don't feel bad, in the year or so I've been spending time in Sholazar (not solely, of course), I've seen Aotona a whopping once. She seems to be the most elusive creature in Sholazar, even moreso than KK or Loque whom I've seen three times each.

But yeah, more rares is fine. But please, please, PLEEEEASE for the love of Elune, DON'T make them part of an achievement. >.>

This. I love having rares to camp, but I hate the fact that everyone and their dog wants to kill them as well. >.< Blizzard can make plenty of zone rares that are not tameable pets, so I don't think they should go that route again.

I can understand wanting some... acheivement thingy I guess to get that over 9000 thingy. But you know if you see someone camping there and you know they have been in shola for awhile or are always there and even asking if someone has seen it spawn. I think as a fellow hunter you should understand how long people camp for rares for. People go on for months even years without getting the one thing they truly want. But as long as your not the type who already has that acheivement and still kills it anyways for "fun" then I dont really have any problem with it.

I personally enjoy the hunt. There is something so thrilling when your rare spawns for the first time and you get him or even if you miss him. I think the more that prevents you from getting it, the more thrilling it is when you get it! Personally I have yet to stop taking out King krush lol.

I personally cannot kill a rare beast which is why no pet will die at my hands - achievement or not. Im a firm believer in finding a home for that creature first and foremost which is why I always check :)
