Thank GOD IT'S OVER. Yet I can't help but be disappointed. Yes I am going to be one of those "it's not fair" whiners for a second. Because it almost doesn't feel fair that certain people like myself and several others busted ass everyday of this event to end up with very little to show for it except for empty coffers. Yes I did get all the bear and chest familiars and two eggs. So I shouldn't complain. But you should have seen how much single food items, mirrors, candles etc etc not to mention the dust from the coliseum mobs I ended up selling. Now I have to drop even more money on a scroll for my triple slate male. I may just not change him now because I'm sure they'll be very expensive.

But. Today I did kind of a hoard clean out. Start a new. Shame that all that stuff amounted to very little treasure. Oh well. Back to the kelp beds for more abuse via manta runes. At least I won't have to deal with Lockjaws anymore

So I'm in dire need of the Whirlwind Armband. Anyone want a Noc for one? She's named cuz I was going to keep her, but I've decided to be a little more picky about my lair

I completely agree with you, zedxrgal. It wasn't fair at all. I have a full time job and I have family. I missed several days of it because I didn't log in over the Holidays because of those reasons.

I'm on the boat with A LOT of other FR members with the: Wasn't the Icewarden's Holiday moved to January by popular vote because of December being Christmas/New Years and a lot of people would be out with family and not home/etc etc.

Why oh WHY would they go and do that, and then create an event OVER THE HOLIDAY in which people DIDN'T want the Crystalline Gala because of availability. I just.. my mind.. it explodes. It's like they didn't listen at all to their community. "Well maybe this new event is different! They totally don't have to grind everyday and waste all their gathering turns on-" NO. Just NO. It is the EXACT SAME THING as the Crystalline Gala would have done. Except, it's a new breed of dragon. A new, limited, breed of dragon. Not some apparel that I might not get because I don't like it... a NEW, LIMITED, DRAGON BREED. Again, brain splodes here... and don't even get me started on drop rates of items/chests...

Anywho, not rant thread... so I'll shut up. >>;

And the real reason I came here: Can anyone give me serious tips on making treasure?
I noticed I did seem to make quite a bit grinding Scorched Forest trying to get chests, so I'm assuming that's a big part of it? Level your dragons to max, grind low level Coli venues til your eyes bleed/fingers fall off? I'm doing Gene planning and I'm going to need A LOT of treasure. I actually want to do it this time. I want to Gene up all of my lair and start my own hatchery like I had planned previously.

Coli is a good -- but boring -- way to make money. Honestly I make a lot of mine... I don't even know  selling dragons that don't fit in my lair anymore / apparel / gilded chests + familiars I guess? It's not surefire though tbh :?

Saw this and thought I'd reply really quickly. What I do is bond with familiars and farm the coliseum. If you don't already have a team you can level one up.
Use Culex's Leveling Guide (by Duke)!!! This is how I level ALL of my dragons. It is truly a coliseum bible.
You can also level exalt fodder which can make you 30,000t+ treasure per level 25 you exalt (side note: level 25 exalts are a huge bonus to flight dominance). Not to mention all the materials and "other" items you can sell off. Which is also what I do.
If you don't want to level a team you can buy them. They sell fully stoned and leveled for about 250-300k treasure. Yes it's a lot of money but less hassle if you don't want to level a team on your own. But follow Culex's guide religiously.
I personally use dragons for exalt training. You can farm just as easily with them then a team purely for farming. Give that a shot. The coli yes can be boring. Put some music on, a podcast, movie on the tv and GO GO GO.

Well, I dunno about you guys, but on a Sunday evening I clear out my hoard for the week. Auto sell everything that doesn't go on the auction house. Because of how much I farmed last week due to the Nocturne event... just from auto selling I made almost 500k. No joke. I don't sell any apparel either, just all the food I don't need, all the materials, all the battle items (Berserkers, Eliminates and Ambush stones all go on the AH, not for me right now though as I'm planning a new Coli team) and 'other' stuff. And I didn't even farm *that* much, got 99 chests a day most days, some other days more, but I never did more than 300 chests a day from Coli farming. And that was just the one week. I'm almost at 2 mill treasure now because of this event.

OH that's another thing. When you've gathered up loads of different stuff thanks to Coli, go visit Crim fairly often and she'll almost always have at least something you can give her.

Oh and run a hatchery. My hatchery is now 80% of my income. Makes me a lot. c:

That's the thing, none of my dragons are really worth that much to start a hatchery. I barely have any gened pairs, and the ones I do have gened don't normally pop out "desired" colors. I'm trying to make money to gene everyone up so it would be worth while to open a hatchery.

The Nocturne event probably got me 200k+ in treasure from farming. I bought an egg or two, and bought 2 or 3 hatchlings and still had no trouble earning money back. I think the dust the Mimics gave was a big part of that.

I have a Coli team. They're 20, 20, and 19. I've been working on actually leveling them lately inbetween the Noc farming I was doing. I also bought Tinctures for two of them and redid their stats as they were all mucked up because I had no idea what I was doing when I started way back. Malachai (20) has 100 STR, 50 Quick, 25 Vit and Winteria (19) has like 98 STR, 50 Quick, 25 Vit. Telli is my healer and the only one I haven't Tinct'd yet because I really don't have problems with her being able to handle healing/buffing. With my two Eliminators stats redone, I can duo them in venues up to Bamboo Falls without my healer. Depending how much the RNG screws me, I can go for pretty long before either of them are being closed to KO'd. Honestly it seems better to do the lower level venues as it's easier to one shot and kill speed means more battles which overall means more chances at items.

Normally I hoard EVERYTHING. I use to keep atleast 5 items of everything I'd get for Crim and then sell the rest. At the moment I have been selling everything. I convert all food items because I'm still not at a comfortable amount. I was at 0 in everything from being away for so long. All my dragons were starved and I was taking my time using all my turns on stocking up food.. then the Noct event started and I wanted the extra turns so I burned through what little I had stockpiled quickly. I'll probably start doing my 5 of everything again soon.

You think when I first started my hatchery I had anyone wanting my hatchlings? xD Noooppeee. First thing I did when I opened it was ping everyone on my friends list to see if they were interested, I got a couple of people on ping lists and it all started from there. Not all my pairs have people on their ping lists but a hatchery is also a good way to advertise your dragons for sale. Personally, a lot of my pairs don't have much amount of variation in the colours. And if they do, it's normally spread as far out as possible in one colour while the others all stay the same. (For example: my Crystal Wildclaw pair, the male is green/white/white and the female is pink/white/white (I don't remember exact colours now and can't check cause FR is in maintenance) which means the hatchlings all have really varied primaries and they all look good with their white/white secondaries and terts.) It also depends if you like what other people like - pastel dragons are popular, but oversaturated right now because some pastel hatcheries charge WAY too freaking much for their hatchlings, it's ridiculous, so while they are still popular a lot of people also refuse to look at them. I love lots of different colours, hence my lair is quite varied - I have pastels to forest/nature themed dragons to plague/evil pairs. Something for everyone in there, while still sticking to things I actually like myself.

As for Coli, obviously it comes down to personal preference in the end, but from my experience you can always grind faster without a healer dragon. I stat all my dragons according to this guide: http://flightrising.com/main.php?board= ... 37136&p=mb (If you scroll down a little, you'll see a table. I literally use that to stat and I haven't even tinctured my dragons yet.) To scratch and eliminate almost every opponent makes grinding much, much easier. I can scratch, eliminate everything in the Mire but honestly every venue above that I've never actually tried properly yet.

It makes sense to hoard all the food and convert it if you've been low on it, I personally like to make sure I'm at 2,000 in every food resource at the end of the week. Even with all my Imperials and Coatls, I never run out of fish before the end of the week, though I have come close sometimes. But you don't even need the food items, just auto-sell everything else you collect up. Only material I'm currently not selling are the Winter Wolf Pelts but I'm saving for the wolf cape, but even so, those things go for a lot on the auction house if you're not fussed about getting the cape.

Again, sorry for rambling, I'm just giving out my own tips because I feel they actually work. I was at 500k only a week ago and believe me, I don't have time to sit and stare at FR all day every day, I have uni to be getting on with now. I just dedicate a little bit of time every day to hatching eggs, pinging/advertising the hatchlings, leveling (to 10) and exalting any hatchling that hasn't sold after a week, and even then I don't like to level and exalt the ones I consider to be really pretty so I end up giving them away for free if people promise to look after them, lol. So don't think you need to be on FR all day in order to make any amount of money. Oh, and don't spend treasure. You won't get anywhere if you always spend the money you've been earning. xD

Ah, Snowy you're making me want to try a hatchery, but I've never had dedicated "pairings" really, I swap my dragons around for breeding all the time just to keep things interesting so that I never really know what I'll get (plus with the prices these days most are just exalt fodder anyways so I don't care if I get ugly babies). Still, it does seem appealing somehow, maybe if I bite the bullet and buy more lair space some day I'll try a few pairings or something.

You should try it Veph! They really aren't hard to maintain, no, as Tarn said, just keep it neat and tidy and it should be fine. I originally set mine up for fun, not really to make a profit from hatchlings, but it's now a huge part of my income of treasure. And hey, if the hatchlings don't sell, level and exalt them for an easy 15k. *shrug* I'd get more from selling them but 15k is better than nothing.

Also i find that a hatchery helps you find a purpose with your hatchlings ;)
Im super lazy so if they dont sell i dont borther to lvl them up .. i just exalt them if they dont sell for the prize i want. Normally i add a little extra to the prize so i got a few days to decrease to the minimum i got in my head :D

Not gonna lie. I tried a hatchery and hated it. It never went anywhere, it was a pain in the ass to upkeep, and if you don't have the FotM dragon breeds/genes in then no one seems to care. I've debated about trying it again, but I can't even afford to properly gene my dragons and by the time I can get them things like crystal and/or spines they're no longer desired. And if you're the kind of person that's really indecisive about dragon pairs and moving dragons in and out of your lair then it'll be a little harder too.

Kudos for those who do regularly maintain hatcheries, but they're not fun/easy for everyone. :P
