PTR 6.2 Mystery Tame Contest - SOLVED

I was thinking it was maybe Tortos as well, but checked him on the PTR LFR, still got his untameable flag

I'm thinking this is a named beast, or something that's been previously untameable that's been flagged as such.

I'll hop on and look around when I get a chance. I wish I knew if it was draenor or on an older continent though! I also wish I got on PTR earlier to copy my character... Luckily I have my 100 from awhile back.

I don't even know where to begin to look. Kinda stayed off the PTR as to not spoil myself too much, but that kinda bit me in the rear. I'm totally unfamiliar with Tanaan, so I probably wouldn't know what is what even if i found it.

Totally fine and understood if these aren't answerable, but I figure they're fairly "mild" question so I'll ask anyway...
1. Is the beast Exotic?
2. Is it a new or existing family?
3. It's in Draenor, right?

Totally downloading the PTR now to do this. I've always wanted that mount.

And by what my understanding of the queens posting this beastie could be a tame like the spirit beast are where it takes something specific. How exciting.

I can't help but think back to Gara and how we needed items or to talk to an npc. So it could literally be anything. A tracking tame, a hidden item, an npc, etc.

I'm in Tanaan now after downloading and going through the starting quests, so I'll see what I can find.

I'd recommend combing through all the "Beast" NPCs added in the past 20 or so PTR builds, and cross-checking the untamable ones ingame.

Since this is hyped up to be a big deal, I'm going to assume this isn't something rather... unextraordinary, like "A brown pack clefthoof that keeps its packs when tamed!!"

So: Fel Ravens? Frogs? Pythons?


Keep in mind it could also be an aberration or elemental or something that reverts to beast status after a special action that we must take to tame it.

What I wonder is does "not a look thats been tameable before" refer to a model or a skin... Dread Raven verses Fel wolf, that distinction. Both are looks that not been tameable before. Must do more science!

Yeah I was just wondering that. Is it something like a Dread raven or a pterrorwing, or is it a family that's already tameable but a new look?

Either way it'll be interesting to see what it is. It's got to be something pretty dang cool if they won't tell us without us working for it! xD If it does end up being that fel wolf It'll be a bit disappointing since our last big hunt was a wolf (Gara). Not that I wouldn't tame it...

A critter that's not been reported yet. I think that's what's maybe throwing me off. Everything has been reported so far. Or maybe I am just misunderstanding that statement. Check everything that isn't on Wain's list!!!!

I've been wracking my brain trying to think of any beasts that have been untameable in the past, but that we've really wanted. Fel wolves make sense, and would make sense if they're also tameable only under certain conditions.

I had a quick look at them on the PTR (up where you get the Fel Pup), and couldn't see any hints.

This does imply the look hasn't been reported (and therefore seen) yet. At least thats the impression I got, something we've yet to see.

Maybe it has something to do with these wolves? "Tormented wolves" can not be attacked and are neutral. They're at Temple of Sha'naar.

In the area with the fel wolves, I noticed a pile of wolf corpses and what appears to be sargerei who are corrupting them. Near the wolf corpses are "tormented wolves" (seen in upper part of the screenshot) which are neutral and can't be attacked. If this were some kind of mini hunter quest, it would certainly fit the theme. We saved Gara from the void, why not save another wolf from fel corruption? But the data doesn't do much to support it, unless they got sneaky with hiding it somehow. Just a thought.

I really, REALLY don't think the Petopia and WarcraftMounts staff would be sending us to discover a new tamable pet if it were an exploit. That'd just get the lot of us in trouble...especially if we didn't report it and the exploit made it to live.

I'm dying to find out what the new critter is, but I'm going to have to wait for the big reveal, as my hands won't stand up to scrambling about on the PTR *and* trying to finish out the assault quests for my Securing Draenor achievement.

Don't forget that you'll probably have quite some time to finish that up while grinding the reps for Pathfinder

Mania doesn't do exploits, hun. So exploit checking won't really....help.
