Anyone else get dissed for not haveing "rare" pets?

I was actually dissed one time for being a BM and not having Skoll. I was running with Gondria and of course the ooohh ahhhh's came across party chat and the tank (why is it always the tank that has the big mouth) pipes up and asked where Skoll was. Mind you this was before I tamed him.
I said I didn't have him and I wasn't going to since my first two worgs I really disliked and after taming he's the same except skin and he just didn't do it for me. As others have stated that's were the dissing came in. "what kind of BM hunter are you, don't you know he's an elite SB" and blah blah blah.
I was more then willing to make this tank look like a fool and correct his ignorance in the proper fashion. There's a lot more to the story as far as words but I don't feel like typing it all out.

So not only was I getting dissed for being a BM but also a BM not using Skoll.


Side note: I have since tamed Skoll and have spent time with him. He's gorgeous and yes hits hard seeing as how he's specked for dps. I'm not 100% in love with him but he's growing on me very slowly but surely.

Woah, that's insane. Luckily, I have never experienced this personally with my hunter. Then again, I am only level 66 and have only been leveling with other people since 60. I would just tell them to screw off if they were ignorant, and that they can tell me how to play when they pay for my account. Of course if it is an honest mistake and they thought rare skins etc. actually are an improvement, I would correct them politely.

I had that happen on my 65 lock once though. I am demonology so naturally I was using my felguard. The tank (lol always the tank) told me that I was a noob and to get my imp out because demon warlocks suck. He eventually got kicked because he was not only telling me how to play my own character (rudely I might add), he was going it to everyone else. It's not the exact same as someone complaining about a hunter not having a rare pet, but similar enough. xD

I have Humar, a Tyrant Devilsaur, an Armored Wolf, a green Chimaera and yellow Worm, and so far I have never had anyone comment negatively on them.

About people going out just to tame rares: I see TONS of hunters with rares/elites. But I also can't speak for those people and say they are only getting them because they are rare. It's all personal taste. Personally, I have my favourite skins regardless of if they are rare or not, but many are rare because they are unique skins I like! Such as Arcturis, King Krush and Humar (even though he is not unique anymore, I love the skin).

That has never happened to me... If it did I'd dismiss pet... Misdirection... pull everything /feign death. And watch the crap hit the fan whilst I giggle.

I asked people with "rare spawn" looking pets if they we're the one, eh I'm give or take, I think it's better for them to have a ingame buddy then some 50 hour camping that they don;t really care about, but then I have all rare spawns, Mist Howler, King Krush, Aotona, Loque'nahak and oh wait my 5th is rare he is "The Beast" from UBRS but he is cool IMHO,
I informed alot of people about various rares and such and spawn spots timers etc. and when I find them I sometimes try to find someone to find it a good home, But on Elune nobody cares iffen yer pet is rare or generic, But I like to see someone do a little work and try to be somewhat an individual if they can/want. -"Unknowne"-Elune

Strangely, this has only happened to me Horde-side. I basically told them my turtle was completely fine as non-elite and implied that they were dumb for insinuating otherwise.

I once got told off for having a "too-common rare" on Zangarmarsh, namely Rak'shiri. Which would seem odd, given the 18-hour spawn timer, but since the skin is shared with a mid-level quest spawn, there are a few more out there and the savvy hunter knows where to look. This guy, I can only assume since I immediately blocked him after, was probably from the pre-BC era of play when Rak'shiri was an incredibly tough tame in a very nasty end of a zone, and feels cheated by characters 10 levels higher than him who don't know the value of patience and perseverance. I like to imagine, had I not blocked him, he would have ranted about the good old days of Warcraft 1 and how there were only 150 pokemon, and that he walked to school uphill both ways in 6 feet of snow in his grandpa's pajamas.

Happily I have never been told off for bringing "the wrong pet" into an instance or raid, but my server's pretty lenient. Doing VoA 25 I was the only person who brought a wolf, the rest of the ranks were cats, devilsaurs, tallstriders, a moth and even a dragonhawk. So long as the tank and the healers do their job, no one really cares what pets the hunter brings - or the tank/melee dps is too busy bashing me directly to notice my pet.

Why the heck does it even matter when it's not a raid?!

I do find it worse when OTHER hunters diss me like i can take other classes but when i get dick ass hunters telling me what pets i should have and then what skins its just my god shut the hell up and no not gunna get a spirit beast cos you think only good hunters can stand to wiat a long time for it. I happend to corspe camp my way from mulgor to the troll town in their starting zone to tame my crab and i was only bloody lvl 10 i anit dicthing Citerzensnips for nothing. Sorry i had a fight with someone today bout my crab and i had to rant XD

Just wondering if anyone else gets insulting PMS form other hunters and people for not haveing a fancy skin or rare pet. As i get quite alot of it. Things like "oh dude why do you have a lame white plainstrider when you could have a clucthmother" these useally would not bother me but they pile up and too in the long run i happen to love my white plainstirder and my black buzzard from mulgore I would not trade them for any other skin.

Your white skin is a lot rarer to see than most other tallstriders.

I love the white tallstrider skin. It's very beautiful. I think I've only seen a high level hunter have one once. Of course, any high level tallstrider is a treat to see.

I've NEVER seen the white tallstrider as a pet on my server on any level of player. Hell I've seen more dragonhawks and other rares more times then I have seen a tallstrider. If I hadn't become so smitten with other skins the white would be the one I'd have. How awesome you have one.

Again it boggles my mind that someone would care that a person has one skin over the other.

Well, the stats can be a bit misleading.. some of the lower numbers are due to rarity of the pet, and others are lack of popularity.

For example Araga is the rarest cat pattern, likely because she's the rarest cat. But.. Humar/Pitch is the most common, so either people camped Humar, or they are now going to Sholzar...

But it does show some interesting trends. And there are some listed high that I never see, perhaps they are all parked in stables..

I've had a few complaints about my pet slime and ghost hydra. A few complained that they are weaker because they are not true pets while others get completely confused when i tell them that they are crocolisks. Someone reported me once for hacking because of it.
