There are no pets being retired that has been reported. Blizzard seems to be adding not subtracting.

These days we keep a close eye on things like that, and usually if a pet look is threatened sirens go off

In fact, it's actually saved a few pets. Back when WoD was still in beta, we noticed that the armored ghost boar was missing from the revamped Razorfen Kraul, as the boss that summoned it no longer did so.
