Doing a lair "cull" since was nearing my 20 beast limit.
My fist baby bird grew up but stats were bad, so off it went.
Brown wild unicorn had bad stats, so he went to.
My lavender male roc went to the pound as well.
My pretty gryphon had some bad stats, so reluctantly I let it go to.

In about 5 hrs my leopard puma will be tamed and I'll see if it's worth keeping.

In the mean time, I did some breeding so we will see if these next offspring will have more favorable stats/abilities.
So, hopefully will have a dragon, a unicorn, a roc and symurgh babies in the next 24 hrs that will hopefully be better then their parents.

Urgh Tarn that sucks. I really hope they add the ability to check pound pets or else make an easier/more available option to permanently remove pets with bad genes a la FR's exaltation. Along with a cheaper way to rename pets. I feel so sorry for Nobface the lykos.

My white dragon girl grew up so she went to the pound. Sarth and midnight had a kid today
Image
Black + black = red. Gotta love recessive genes  Also another girl. Largely neutral stats with a strong bite.

Lastly I had enough silver to warrant another expedition last night and my reptile catcher surprised me with a cockatrice
Image
Not sure how to feel about her yet. Yes. Her. /lays down

Today's rant - I really don't mind people naming pets they send to the pound (unless it's something like gngngng which I saw today...), in fact it gives them a bit of personality from the start. BUT WHY DO THEY NOT CAPITALIZE NAMES? I saw some nice pets there today but I could not, COULD NOT give them homes because I can't bear uncapitalized names. *shudder* The only acceptable female cockatrice I came across today was called "ice bite". Sorry, but it's just not happening.

My roc's mystery pregnancy ended in an identical coloured girl with slightly worse stats, so as soon as she grows up she'll head to the pound.
Image

I was gifted this beautiful GP 2 Lykos randomly by an older user who I have never spoken to. Very surprising and generous! I named her Fierce.
Image

My pound endeavour for today was to find a cockatrice girl for Demon, but after 45 minutes of the same horrible blues and greens showing up (as well as the infamous "ice bite") I stumbled upon Marko (not my naming choice) here. I have a weakness for Throdamas and so I gathered him up and took him home. His stats aren't impressive but I find I'm getting stupidly attached to both my crappy Throdamas. Until I get another in his colours with better stats, I fear he will likely be staying...
Image

Tempest and Tintin also grew up.

Mozag: Oh my god, I feel the same way you do about names. I've had to be super, super picky with what pets I adopt because of how stupid people are when it comes to naming. An holy cow that Throdama is gorgeous! Like a rainbow! o_o

Tempest's twin brother, Ivory, came home today. I'm completely smitten with him (thank you again, Mozag!)

Image

I asked her to name him for me before I found the list of color morphs, so that's why his name doesn't make much sense, but Ebony's his uncle, so their names go hand in hand. :)

Speaking of Ebony, he and Evening had a baby boy today:

Image

Aleya grew up, but due to having three bad stats like her poor father, they'll both be shipped to the pound soon, which sucks because I love this color morph for cockatrices but room is limited. :(

You Petopians got me interested in this game, so I decided to join. It's a good bit slower of a game than what I usually like, but I do enjoy exploring islands and discovering stats for my pets, so it's kept me entertained so far!

I started off with a Gryphon, who I named Redear, and he has really low Intelligence, but pretty high Courage and Constitution... He's probably the pet that has developed the most character.

Image

I continued on to get two Unicorns from the tutorial, Crescendo and Melody. They've already had one kid, and I managed to find a fertility shrine witt the girl, so another one is on the way. I might end up sending them off to the pound, however, or at least the male and kid, as I'm not fond of their stats.

ImageImageImage

I also grabbed two dragons from the pound, Theyrion and Cloud, but the male's stats aren't very great, and both of them haven't really developed much character for me. Still, they've had a little hatchling so far, and I might keep that little girl for a while. She does have one recessive trait that she can pass on that I don't like, but she herself has no red stats or any hindering traits.

ImageImageImage

And finally, my catchers have managed to snag a Gryphon female who will likely become Redear's mate, and a male Cocktrice who will likely get sent off to the pound. I'm not a fan of how Cocktrice look x_x.

ImageImage

And speaking of how Cockatrice look, I decided to make a usable skin for them, since we can do that! Sort of like Flight Rising's skins, except not only can you make recolors of the original image, but you can upload your own lineart and coloring for the various critters. I figured that Cocktraice look vaguely like raptors, so I might enjoy them more wearing a skin that looked like a raptor. Nowhere near finished, and I intend to color one for every color of cockatrice, but...

Image

Legend says that Cocktrice hatch from a yolkless egg laid by a hen that is then incubated by a toad. However, recent research suggests that they may actually be descended from ancient reptiles that once roamed and ruled the planet.

Which, when you think about it, explains why
reptile catchers are the ones able to tame a creature supposedly spawned from a chicken and an amphibian.

Woop new beastkeepers!

That's a neat idea for a cockatrice skin Kirri, can't wait to see what it looks like finished :D

I set another expedition off while I was out and my magic catcher managed to catch two pets. Pretty nifty that such can happen! Nothing particularly special though - another female puma and a male! cockatrice.
ImageImage

And Amalthea became pregnant through a fertility shrine (I needed the vermilion darn it) and had a little bay boy (another male wut). Once again sigh at recessive genes as both she and the donor have a high chance to pass on piebald and he came out normal. Largely neutral stats with good constitution though.
Image

I need to choose some more to ship off to the pound I think. Or somehow get myself an affordable level 2 stable and the remaining mats for it. Shrike and Cobalian may well be on that list.

Adorable little Symurghlings, Syl!

I got Crowe from Nef. My first griffin and I love him, one of my favorite color morphs:

Image

I sent both Geist and his daughter to the pound earlier, and part of me regrets the choice to do so and I wish I had the Reserve, but their horrible stats really bugged me. So, a few minutes ago, I went to the pound to take a look at all the adoptees, and I stumbled across Smoke!

Image

I sat there for five minutes dithering over whether or not I should adopt him, because I could not believe I'd found a black morph male cockatrice like Mozag's Demon, but I just could not pass him up. His stats are average for the most part, though he has one red stat in intelligence and a positive in strength. I'm pretty happy with him and tomorrow, I hope to find a white or silver color morph female for him. :) Don't kill me, Mozag! XD

Ok I decided to join too and actually joined a few days back but just kept forgetting to post in this thread. :P I'm Ithilim over there too. Not sure when I'll have the time to really mess with this game, but at least nothing bad happens if I have to step away for a few weeks or so.

I managed to snag a couple nice pets to start out with. I'm slowly learning the ropes of this game.

UNICORNS

Zephro - Adopted
Image

Sierra - Adopted
Image

Wildflash - Captured
Image

GRYPHONS

Zaharia - Captured
Image

LYKOS

Swift - Purchased
Image

Most of my other pets had really bad stats, including my starter pets and are either already sent to the pound or are stashed away in my group of Misfits which are just waiting on cooldowns to head off to the pound. I adopted a couple other pets too but since it's such a gamble the majority had bad stats. I really wish you could preview the pets in the pound's stats. I also wish it'd erase their names and give you a chance to rename them because I've passed up on some beautiful pets because people named them in lowercase, used random numbers or letters, or even names that were just a row of question marks.

My blue dragon mated to a blue dragon and gave me a red hatchling, lol. Stats are better then the mother, so will be keeping him but the mother will be going off to the pound :(
Image

My unicorn breeding resulted in a palomino filly, her stats are ok. Might keep her for now.
Image

And my Symurgh breeding gave me a pretty girl with better stats then her mommy. I only hope she inherited some of her fathers perks.
Image

Took a gamble and adopted this pretty lady from the pound...3 red stats and one green...Mated her to a fox boy, hoping the offspring will be more promising. Will be sending this girl off to the pound in 7 days.

Such lovely animals everyone!

Falcon - That's awesome! Smoke is a real looker, and at least now I don't have to desperately scour the pound intending to get Demon a fitting mate and failing miserably as I get a Throdama...or a Gryphon like today. Also so glad that Ivory has a good home with you, but don't feel bad if you ever want to pound him. I'm not picky about these things.

Tarn - Do you still need/want me to breed my Symurghs for you? I'm happy to, just want to make sure!

Nothing exciting in my stables except that I finally managed to expand them! I also sent Ghost, Soot and Wisdom to the pound.
I picked up Steel Sword (not my choice of name) from the pound, and sadly in 6 days she'll be going right back. Yucky stats. :(
Image
http://beastkeeper.com/pet/598407

I'm having a crisis as I know I won't have any chance of a deviant unless I breed the pets I DO have, but I really dislike the idea of breeding animals with bad stats. In the worst case scenario they end up crap and I send them to the pound and some unsuspecting person gives them a home or then I get a deviant or colour I like with awful stats. Maybe I should just ignore stats but but but....

Ohh those Fox wolves! soooo pretty!

I adopted this girl today, she is a Genetic Power: Grade 2, Sadly she is also a degenration power 2.. but as that should not pass on to her foals i plan to breed her with my Gen 1 Unicorn to see if they can make me a foal which can replace both of them..
