"We've got plenty of more story"

Unread post by Loridon »

So no new patch before legion. I'm not playing atm so I dont rlly care.
But my faith in blizz reduced.

I remember an interview with Hazzikostas about patch 6.2.
He said as literal "We've got plenty of more story to be told after this"...yeah right...

I believe in them. I'm just curious if this post was made just to bash them, cause it really seems like that's all it is. Mostly because you're saying you have no faith and all this other negative stuff, but you never really....elaborate any reasons.

Also fact of the matter is this. They do have story to tell. They have expansions lined up and being developed for years to come. Each of those expansions are stories to be told. Just because it's not happening right this minute doesn't mean they won't have it.

People have experienced differing levels of frustration of late and express it in different ways. Some need to vent more than others I guess!

I suppose so, but I guess I'm the sort that likes to see reasons other than "This sucks" "I don't like this" cause it just sounds like...bashing to me. ^^;

No no not bashing and i'm not frustraded at all! I am concerned about wow.

I dont belong to the group of ppl that whin about everything.
I started to play in vanilla so I have seen many content(who promises first) cut out.
I never raged about it,there is still plenty to do.

But now I'm for the first time concerned.
As I said in my first post, Hazzikostas said that after 6.2 new stuff were coming in WOD.
If this were true they could add more patch(s) before the next expension. So my conclusion is that he was lying right in our face (I can be wrong).
Now they are telling us they are already working on the other expensions.Perhaps they lie again and is legion the last expension?

Then there is the fact that wow belong to a listed company. If (big) shareholders demands to stop wow...
And this is possible.Wow is making less profit. And the only thing a shareholders want to see is the increases of profits from a product. And not the other way around. There is somthing like the Pareto efficiency (80-20 rule). If wow dont belong to that 20% anymore, Activision Blizzard can remove wow from there product range.Even even if wow is still profitable.

I hope I am wrong in my reasoning,I rlly do.

Well if you don't mind, I can address some of the concerns. ^^

They are working on more expansions. They announced that last blizzcon. There's also been copyrights being made for names too, which mmochamp usually reports them. Whether or not they're expansions, we dunno until way later. But people always have these claims "this is the last expansion". Blizzard time and time again has said they will keep making expansions as long as people want to play.

The latest patch is actually in the PTR as we speak. What they mean by 'no more patches' is major content like a raid or anything. They'll still do little patches here and there, but there usually isn't any huge patches after the last raid tier. Never really has been.

WoW is still profitable and they're doing relatively well for themselves. I actually did a presentation about their stocks and such, if you'd like to see it. Got lots of charts and other goodies in it that can help show. Stocks rise and fall mildly all the time. The steepest drop you'll see is from the stock market crash in 2007, which is seen in ALL stocks. But here's some sites to keep track of their stocks, if you're interested. Their stocks always fall a little towards the end of an expansion, but it's minute in the grand scheme.

http://stocktwits.com/symbol/ATVI
http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/atvi
http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/atvi

Also just to clarify. You'll see what stockbrokers have called 'Sentiments'. It's a general consensus by stock buyers that watch these things like hawks for a living. The two ranks are 'Bullish' and 'Bearish'. Basically, Bullish is good and you should definitely buy it cause it's worth the investment. Bearish is the exact opposite - don't buy it, not worth it. So there ya go. From what I'm seeing, as of this time, it's Bullish across the board. I hope this helps to show that Blizzard is doing well and going strong. WoW is their biggest game. If WoW ever tanked, we would see it big time in the stocks.

Junrei, I am a big huge nerd when it comes to financials. Yes, there, I've admitted it. I cover an aspect of the financial industry (commodity futures) as part of my job and have dabbled in stock analysis. I would love to see your Blizzard presentation! And here I thought I was the only one who geeked out to ATVI quarterlies.

I don't mind ;)

Seems I'm not the only one with intrested in economy :p
In 2012 i was thinking to buy shares from blizzard. Back then they were below 12$. I have not bought because of the foreign exchange risk.
I'm from Europe,so far I've only shares of European companies (shares in euro currency)
Not a good day today for stock markets btw, because of China.

But back on topic!
First: I don't know how to write it correctly but I'm not claiming legion is the last expension or wow is dying.I know, especially the last 5 years ppl claims that alot. I'm more concerend that blizz is lying to us and abandon wow.
I can understand that it looks like I'm claiming wow is dying but thats not the case. I only don't know how to right this feeling down...

I started studying again,I'm now in my last years. Because of that I didnt play alot in WOD (only 1 month). Last week I heard about the new expension. So I went to the wow-sites like mmo-champion and most things I read were negative reactions from the people. Then I heard that there are no new patches before 7.0
So I began to be worried, perhaps for nothing...

The presentation where you talk about looks interesting!

Haha! I'll upload it to dropbox in a moment. It's nothing too fancy since it was just a presentation for Microeconomics and I had to gather info and charts, as well as give some factoids about World of Warcraft.

Really? The comments I've been seeing online and from my friends offline have been nothing but squeals of delight and excitement. Just from a personal thing, you shouldn't let other negative nancies change your view. See for yourself and gather your own thoughts. You're not gonna like everything, of course, but surely you'll find a lot of those comments may not be your actual thoughts when you analyze everything without outside influences. Myself, I tend to find more peace in looking at the positives and being thankful for everything we got. It's a good way to relieve stress and keep stress away.

And yeah, EU stocks are bleh today. I was glancing at em when searching Blizz stuff and I cringed a little.

Here's the presentation. :3

I'm sure they do, but I do see your point. They have mislead us before. I'm not sure if I could say they out right lied It is defiantly a matter of the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. So you get different people saying different things, and somewhere in there is what is actually going on. The Demon hunter does look cool, but the thought of being stuck on the ground for 8 months or more again, just doesn't sit well with me and others.

I could grind and bear it for a couple months, but not 6-8 months..

Back to the original subject. They really need to work on the player communication.. It's been a Failing grade pretty much this entire expansion.
I believe if you can believe out of nothing an explosion (big bang) happened then how far fetched can god be?

I don't want to derail this thread, so will just say, Junrei that presentation was way cool! And I'm glad I'm not into stocks as my profession... today looks mightily painful.

Thanks! I hope it helped educate. I'm not much for economics, but it was cool to look at.

@Adam,The future will tell. I hope we have many expansions in the future!

@Junrei,I've seen a lot of negative comments. Ppl that dont like the artifact weapons, ppl already whining about the new pvp systeem, they dont like the look of the belf demonhunter,... so many whining and the beta for this expension is even started.
The only thing I don't like is the MM spec without pet. For all the rest I wait until I can explore it myself.

Ty for the presentation!

You're welcome!

And yeah it's like....really? They haven't even SEEN all of it let alone play it. We only saw a sneak peak. I'm that sort of person to not whine and complain until I've actually tried it. From what I've seen so far, it all looks good and has a lot of potential. Don't knock it til you try it, as the old saying goes.

The MM thing I can understand from both sides really.
