Well, old world raptors are supposed to be extremely intelligent, there were those quests in the old Barrens (and maybe in the updated Cataclysm version) where they stole silver, you tracked them down, and find their den which is full of huts/nests that are a bit more elaborate than a bird's nest, and taming spirit beasts feels like taming something "intelligent" when one of them was the mate of a god(dess?) in the case of Loque. I dunno, the whole "taming something sapient" topic is probably a little too sensitive, I look at it as a sort of grey area. As long as we aren't beating gronn into submission Thunderlord orc style (or hell, maybe that's your hunter's thing) I'd say it can be passed off with a reasonable explanation.

Also Gul'dan mount from last boss of Legion, please-and-thank-you.

Because not every mount is something hunters can tame and that thing is a demon...as in from the Legion. We don't tame demons.

If we went to their home world and found non-demonic ones I guess we could. Assuming they weren't always demons, maybe they were.

While that is a possibility, I'm gonna go with highly unlikely that by some magical chance that there are beast versions.

While I'll agree on not taming demons.. I would wonder then why they've been subjugated enough that we can ride them? Esp by everyone?

Same reason we can't tame Corrupted Firehawks, and Warlords Deathwheels, and Spectral Wyverns, and Hearts of the Aspetcs, and Mimirons Heads, etc etc.

Mounts are more than just beasts, and even if so, doesn't mean that it's type/skin/model has to end up as tamable. It would be a lovely surprise, but complaining that we should be able to tame a model, that is a felhound (demon) is a little presumptuous in my opinion.

Yeah, mounts and companions operate on an entirely different scale of realism than hunter pets.

Still, I would argue that it isn't that far-fetched to be able to tame hellhounds when we can tame both "demon dogs" and undead eagles. Though some hellhounds are considered demons, I'd say that only the "elemental" ones should be tamable.

Other demons or demon models, though? Leave them for the warlocks.

Overall, I am optimistic to see what old families we might be able to tame in Legion.

I think we have a good chance at getting three new tamable families.

Tameable or not, they should totally add a "bow" animation to hippogryphs.

They would make gorgeous companions, though. I really hope we get to see new wild colours (and new mounts?) this time. The zone art really says hippogryphs!

One observation, when considering which old families you think may become tameable, think which fit the zones. The designers seem really reluctant to add families if they can't be linked to the new expansion somehow. So, yes, hellhounds and hippogryphs would probably fit that criterion. Not saying they *should* be tameable, just that they fit the criterion. I would be less optimistic about, say, yaks, unless some appear on this continent or they can be shoehorned into another family. Same with pterodactyls unless some are added around the shorelines or something. Hopefully they will because that's one of the most wanted older families (though not so much my thing). Maybe they'll do it differently this time and make a liar of me, but it has seemed far less likely for the last couple of xpacs.
