Beastmastery resource change
This got me thinking about when we run low-level dungeons (either for transmog or for other reasons).
I always put my pet on passive when running a lower-level dungeon, because he can one-shot pretty much anything in it. The way loot is set up right now, if your pet does all the damage and you don't get a shot in, you don't get no loot, nada.
If I require focus to use my attacks, but I can't let my pet kill everything since it precludes me from getting any loots, what are BM hunters supposed to do?
Are the Bliz devs setting things up so that they don't want anyone running older content?
Or will looting be changed to take into consideration the fact that our pets will be the "prime" damage dealers in Legion?
A bit of palindromic wisdom:

I shouldn't have to change specs.
I play the one I like, beastmastery.
Penalizing a spec because of the fundamental function of that spec is stupid design.
No other class/spec gets penalized in this manner.

Your concern is quite valid. It might just not be something they have thought of yet, and might be worth tweeting it to a Dev or posting about it on the officials?
Originally they were going to have the beast generate focus on attacks, but someone already saw another flaw in that...
- So, question on Dire Beast. Since it's BM's only chance to regain focus now, are we extra-extra-extra-screwed on fights where our pets simply can't reach a valid target? This happens every now and then (sometimes bugs/glitches, sometimes valid pathing issues like the target flying) and I'm not sure its avoidable in WoW's engine. It's going to really suck if we've got the same limitations as a melee class when these situations arise.
Fair point, may look into a solution that doesnt require Beast to attack, maybe just a focus per second while guardian active kinda deal.
Followed By
Maybe have some kind of pet communication channeling ability where you and your pet communicate and that generates focus? I'm kinda unsure, that seems like quite a predicament.
Personally hate channeled abilities unless its things like Arcane Missiles. Will be sone very active talent options for focus generation to make up for this if you need it.
- Clarification: we've been experimenting with several different base Focus regen rates. Currently it's 10/sec.

Re: Beastmastery resource change
Standard attacks don't use Focus and they kill just as good.
If you're taking on a boss that won't go down instantly, making your fight with you is always an option.

And it can happen today even. I cant count how many times a mob dies before cobra shot lands (dies during cast or flight) and no focus gained. So glad for passive focus regen, and sometimes i even pull a mob with cobra shot.

So you're more concerned about your convenience than your actual ability to run low level dungeons?Sukurachi wrote:in low level dungeons I rely a LOT on Barrage and Multi-Shot to get through the dungeon without having to hand-pick mobs in large groups, one-by-one. Both require focus.

And we lost our AoE trap last expansion, and will be losing all our traps next expansion.

Re: Beastmastery resource change
I saw nothing in the forums list when on the blizzard website that had anything to do with the next expack. maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?
I don't use Twitter, so that option is out.

I see your concern though. We'll see how it all plays out in beta.

I'm not hysterical about it, but I am concerned.Junrei wrote:I wouldn't get too worked up. While the concern is valid, I wouldn't go screaming "FOREST FIRE!" just because someone lit a cigarette. Let it play out and see how they plan to deal with this. Blizzard is usually pretty good about doing things.
While Blizzard does generally do well with changes, I've noticed that their developers/designers often tend to have a blinkered view of the game, thinking in terms of "end-game" while overlooking pre-end-game material.
Some Blizzard employees have made statements in past years that have amply demonstrated this disconnect with the player base, for example Ghostcrawler's comments about how alts that weren't level capped were not "valid" player characters (because his idea of a "valid" character included ONLY those which you played every single day and level-capped and raided with).
I will keep my fingers crossed that this BM issue will be dealt with logically and with the greater good of the Hunter community in mind, rather than an obstinate "we designed it, so too bad for you" attitude.
