Seems there's a new stag as well as the new doe. Very similar to panda model I think, including the same colour range, but different antlers and such. Maybe other diffs I didn't pick up. Anyone able to link it? Bit awkward on my iPad. Late at night. After too much gin.

Also, much as it is beautiful, the new stag really is a small update on a recent model that was already good. Why not funnel that time into something that could use it? Like fixing the damned bear :p

Nope. They'd make more new pets, but they're a little busy making a 1000 models of the same weapon that won't be usable after this expansion for anything like transmogg or collecting. Okay that was a little harsh

Oh I don't mind if they haven't created a new stag. The current one is still fairly new and quite beautiful. I originally thought they had, and wondered why they bothered when there are models in use in the Broken Isles that are more needing of work or updates. Much like the new mana wyrms, which don't seem to have replaced the old and yet are very much updates on the original, and not even much higher quality than them. Much effort for little gain.

Erasing the stag swirly pattern is, I think, and unusual choice of effort, instead of creating real new colours, or adding some real textures to the monochrome new wolves and nightsabers, or fixing the drab and unfaithful replacement bear colours. But maybe it takes a lot less time and was easy to do.

I may be part of the minority but I don't mind the new bear model that much and it's the new wolf model I think is completely wonky and usable for me....and I'd hate to see either Skoll or Hati with that model.

I'd be okay with the WoD model it's fine just not the shaved backside derpy eyed model.

Now I know most of the attacks are purely druid. But aren't some animations for Hunter pets (particularly cats and other feline-esque spirit beasts) also called "druidcat rake" or whatever? I know they are referred to that on Wowhead when you view them in the model viewer, but I'm not 100% sure.

So I'm wondering if some of the more basic animation updates to feral druids will also be reflected on our pets?

Hairballs (my druid) is going to get a lot more play time I think.
And I believe you're right that some of the animations are the same between the druid for and pet cats. Gaw I wish the vanilla cats were updated with the druid's smoothness. I know people may want to flame me for that but it would be really nice to have ghost saber smoothed out.

I'm home from my wanderings. I finally added images for:

The Broken Isles Stags. These are almost identical to the Pandaren model, except for: (i) no swirly patterns on the skins, otherwise the skin colours are the same, and (ii) the stance / animations are a little different, this model is more upright.


The corresponding does. It's unlikely these will be tameable, since they have no antlers, but I'm including them for interest. These match both the new and the Pandaren model colour-for-colour, so maybe they'll even use them for replacements in Pandaria zones that have used that low-res Bambi model for so long! Note that they aren't just the stag with the antlers removed. The model is quite different and I think someone has done a lovely job with it.


The lightning version of the new worg model. I thought maybe this would have different particle colours for different skins (like the saber worg update), but this isn't the case.



The updates for the robotic sheep and squirrel models. The squirrel has been out for ages but I had forgotten to include it.

There's a Cards Against Humanity card that literally says just that. That was the first thing that came to me anyway, granted it could be a reference to something hunter related as well.

It turns out you are correct! In the Legion Alpha they seem to occasionally spawn in the docks of Tanaan Jungle They are tameable.
