Magic. Vargath experiment gone wrong. Or morphic fields. Or it wouldn't be the same, but the in-game models are an approximation. Or the similarity in fauna on different planets might be because the in-universe intelligent designers.Quiv wrote:...yet...Aroim wrote:a purple boar (not tameable)![]()
Also how did a boar variant native to another planet in the past end up on Azeroth (and the Broken Isles no less) in the future? Or do we just not ask those questions lol
I just go with head-canon like those, because official lore often ends up being a trainwreck that will need retcons for its retcons.

Re: Legion pet lists
Yeah, I think you're right. They just view them like game units and use whatever is the closest approximation. I'm glad at least they made a couple of new skins for the Broken Isles ones.Valnaaros wrote:It is probably jusy Blizz using the most up-to-date boar model they have. I doubt those boars on the Broken Isles are actually the same type from Draenor.
It's a shame they couldn't do a couple of quick mods to the BI ones to differentiate them, like just remove the spikes or something, but even that requires time I guess. On the other hand I'm totally confused by the fact they created a new model file for the BI stags, even though they look almost identical to the originals, except they have skins without swirly patterns (but the same format) and I think some different animations. Very strange, that.

Re: Legion pet lists
I think it's because in order to access and kill certain bosses others have to be killed otherwise they will not spawn. So I wonder if by taming it doesn't count as a kill so the others bosses in WC don't spawn. I know back in the day you had to clear everything to get to the final bosses.Wain wrote:Apparently for technical reasons but I don't know what they are.worgpower wrote:Why isn't "The Skum" tameable, he could be for higher level people solo in the dungeon to tame

Yeah, that makes sense! Could well be.zedxrgal wrote:I think it's because in order to access and kill certain bosses others have to be killed otherwise they will not spawn. I kept an eye on everything that was alive, and nothing extra was around when Skum died in my second run.

Re: Legion pet lists
I wasn't aware he did that, but you're right, it could be an issue seeing pets do inherit their original ID code. It seems less likely, since lot of creatures are coded to perform various actions in and our of combat but they don't exhibit them as hunter pets. It would be hilarious if your pet turned tail and ran during battle, thoughRawr wrote:Maybe that "runaway when Im at low HP" move he does is an inherent behavior and he would have to be re-coded so he wouldn't do that as a hunter pet. And before anyone says "hunter pets dont have inherent anything once tamed" I will point you to the Corpse Scarab that "has a trailing effect when running".

Mining Basilisks
In addition I can confirm our previous hypothesis that a purple basilisk might spawn from mining leystone nodes. No big suprise that it's actually called a Leystone Basilisk and it's also tameable. In the case of this skin there are several other basilisks in the Broken Isles that are also purple (including a "Manascale Basilisk" and a second "Leystone Basilisk") and I don't expect that to change, since their names pretty much require them to have this appearance. There's also a Lagoon Basilisk with this look in Azsuna, but that could easily change. This colour is so stunning it probably is a little overused at the moment

Both of them are gorgeous!
For a chance at a basilisk spawning you don't seem to need any particular mining skill level, just have the profession. My skill level was well under 50 when these both spawned for me.

Re: Legion pet lists
I'm guessing because as someone else pointed out it is required for completing the dungeon and since it is part of the LFD leveling system it would be a hinderance to those who are trying to finish the dungeon only to get stopped by a hunter taming one of the required bosses.Wain wrote:Apparently for technical reasons but I don't know what they are.worgpower wrote:Why isn't "The Skum" tameable, he could be for higher level people solo in the dungeon to tame
Of course nothing is to stop them from re-using Skum's skin in another area and making it tamable, unless my guess is wrong and it has something to do with the model itself.

There already are other black stegodons that are tameableBristlenose wrote:Wain wrote:Of course nothing is to stop them from re-using Skum's skin in another area and making it tamable, unless my guess is wrong and it has something to do with the model itself.worgpower wrote:Why isn't "The Skum" tameable, he could be for higher level people solo in the dungeon to tame

The top is a Cursefeather Owl in southern Azsuna. The region has a real Mediterranean feel to it (including olive trees!).
The bottom is the Deepwoods Owl in druidic Val'Sharah.
I think they've done a fantastic job with these.

Re: Legion pet lists
Are they huge? Or is it just a camera trick? I know Gnomes are laughably tiny, but that's a bit much.

Re: Legion pet lists
A bit of both. I angled the camera, but also on the purple one I didn't dismiss it and resummon it, so it was larger than it would have been had I done that. It seems pets aren't always shrinking to their final sizes immediately upon taming in the Alpha.WerebearGuy wrote:Are they huge? Or is it just a camera trick? The screenshots also don't seem to be using the best quality. They're a bit dull and foggy compared to what I was seeing on-screen but it's the best I could do.
