Worried About Accidentally Killing Challenge Tames?

Worry no more!

Soft Foam Sword
Use: Mortally wound an enemy of trivial difficulty.
Especially useful for those people who are trying to do old low-level quests where you have to lower HP without killing them, but it's also going to be a godsend for those of us who need to tame things whose HP have to be lowered a considerable amount before you can tame, *without* them dying.

That's what I'm hoping! Trying to lower some of those tames are a bitch and a half nowadays to the right number. And Deth is exactly the one I was thinking about (although others need to have their health lowered as well similarly).

It's not usable in raids at the moment, so no cheesing bosses and their minions.

That it was, but I don't believe it was brought up on these forums as a means to safeguard not killing a low level tame. Thanks for heads up for those that's missed it Kurasu, this will become even more helpful in future expansions with % based tamea as we really become beefy.

I highly recommend that anyone who tries it on Deth should get out of melee range IMMEDIATELY lest he kill himself. :|

This is a great mechanic though!

I'm trying to remember (Sorry it's been a while) but does it death strike anyone in melee range or only the one whom currently has threat and in melee range? Would it be possible to help out another by running up behind and swatting with the foam sword and running off?

I'm gonna unlock Molten Front on beta and test this if possible.

It's anyone (or anything!) that's alive in melee range.

I'd recommend dropping a frost trap in front of him, using the sword, and disengaging away immediately before taming.

Well I unlocked Molten Front on the beta and not a single rare was up inside or out. I'll try again tomorrow.

Edit: Well I guess that answers the foam sword and Deth question! I did try to tame the old fashion way and it was easy as MM as long as you don't have a trinket that procs NPC wolves that finish him off -_-

I'm actually glad Deth is safe from that item. Doing the kite + required amount of damage is much easier than hopping out of melee range to avoid Deth's death to deth strike.

More likely, this is an anti-griefing block. I'm glad someone on the team thought of him. :)

Thanks for checking, Quiv!

Poor Deth'tilac. Brought to submission by a foam sword. *snerk*
