You remember how excited we were to see that, when you hovered the mouse over the minimap, you could tell if something was above or below you?
Blizzard has done it one better:
Now you can tell just by looking where those marks are. Notice the small white chevrons on both the yellow dots (nodes) and the red dot (my present target)? All of them are above me.

The small white chevrons show whether they are higher than you in altitude. Dimmer still means 'underground', I'm assuming.
At the moment, in Draenor, if you hover your mouse over the dot, the name will have an arrow beside it, indicating whether the dot is higher in altitude (above you) or lower (below you). In Legion, it skips the step of having to use your mouse on the minimap.
Ahh yes, this is very handy along with the new greyed out feature to show if something's underground or indoors. I've noticed a lot of small, subtle improvements on things in the PTR. The ground target circles have also been polished and now have a tiny pointed arrow on one side to indicate which way your target is facing. And when you level up the experience bar has a bit of a flashy new animation to make it more satisfying.
The nameplates also got a revamp, seems much more in line with the TidyPlates addon appearance, and we also have the option to put a little health/resource bar under our character.
What would be really nice if there was a filter for NPCs. So I could track Beasts, Humanoids, and Hidden without having my minimap blow up with chicken pox. I have an addon but I'd like the option in game (I'm on a PvP server, it helps).
Love the new mini map on the PTR however .................
Anyone know if Blizzard intends to add mechanicals to the list of hunting tracking abilities?
I was quite surprised to not see it when I created a new 100 gnome hunter.
