Legion Pre Patch

As some of you may have noticed, the Pre Patch has begun downloading for Live. 20 Gigs, atm. That means that the Beta will most likely be coming to an end within the next couple of weeks - probably the week before the pre patch, which would be the 19th.

Where are you getting the 19th and are you saying that is when prepatch will hit?

In the past, Beta usually goes down about a week before the pre-launch patch. Seeing as Blizz did not announce the end of the Arena Season yesterday (which always takes place two weeks before a major patch), the Patch will not be out on the 19th. That is when the Beta will probably go down, and the Patch will launch on the 26th, which is a little more than a month before Legion's launch.

WoD beta ended 1 week before the expansion launched. Patch 6.0 was on live servers 3 weeks before that beta ended. While it is possible that the beta may end before the patch, I personally would be really surprised if it did. Given the state of the beta currently... There's a lot that is still very very clearly bugged out and wrong (order halls especially), and closing the beta this early won't give them the feedback they need.

They haven't given any hard dates on when the patch will go live. Though they usually give about 2 weeks for pvp seasons to end, there have been seasons in the past that only got a one week warning. That said however, I expect the patch to come out the 26th nonetheless. Pre-patches are generally about 4 weeks exactly from the launch of the expansion, and the 26th would make more sense then 6 weeks of pre-launch event.

Though I'm surprised they even put 7.0 on the downloader honestly. They just pushed a new PTR build like an hour or two before it appeared on the downloader. So I suspect more downloads to come lol

Yes, there have been exceptions to their methods, as you stated. Though there generally is a trend that they usually (somewhat) follow. However, I never said they gave out a hard date on when the patch goes live, only that the 26th is highly likely. And yes, I do expect there to be more downloads in the weeks to come

Ah I apologize, I didn't mean to make it sound like I was insinuating you had said there was a hard date. I accidentally read (and then incorporated my answer) to Shade's question about dates. I didn't realize that when I had quoted you, I made it sound like you said a hard date had been set.

Yeah, I mean it definitely could. I feel like this is a really weird alpha/beta/ptr in general. Not just dates, but even the actual content. Maybe its just me, but I'm still surprised Demon Hunter will be in the pre-expansion patch. I know it makes sense since they start off below WoD level cap, but so did Death Knights and TBC level cap and we couldn't make them til the expansion came out.

Everything's just weird. And I'm also super concerned that there's still like some Hunter issues that havent been addressed and other bugs that have been reported since wave 1 of invites, but sill are showing up in the newest beta builds

Yeah, it has been pretty weird. I expect there to be several hotfixes during the course of the pre patch and immediately after Legion's launch. Whether or not they'll fix the Hunter issues now or later on is left to be seen. At this point, they are mostly just tuning the damage of abilities rather than adding/removing them, which is understandable.

Just guesses at this point, but evidence is supporting the 26th. I would be that if it is, we'll be finding out this coming Tuesday or the follow one, assuming they issue a warning to the end to the Arena Season in just a week in advance.

Of course they won't want to give more concrete dates than they have to, or people would complain if things went wrong and they had to shift them.

I was making my guess as per the past dates and the timing of how things go on.

My call was that it would be dropping on the 19th, with the 26th being the latest we'd see it. I'm still holding to the 19th as my guess with the data download as it is; that's a lot of 'set data' downloaded there. So they've at least locked down some of the code, if I understand correctly.

Well I was told the PvP season thing ended yesterday, prepatch normally drops a week after so.....

Unless Blizz made an official announcement on the Arena Season ending (which, as far as I know, they haven't), then it is still ongoing. What they did make an announcement of is the WoD CMs coming to an end soon.

Blizz seems to have sent out a bunch of new beta invites.
I just got mine today.
Or rather, my launcher now gives me the Legion beta as an option along with WoD PTR.
It wasn't there this afternoon. It popped up tonight.

So much regret at the end of this expansion. I should have taken more advantage of the garrison. But Oh well!

Excited for WoD to be over with none the less. This prepatch event looks way more fun than the damned Blasted Lands one that's for sure.

Yep, I'll be rolling a little Gnome hunter. and yes I'll be taming the mech pets. Some are going to be available in the pre-patch, the ones I got on the ptr were; the sheep, Friender, Sentient Mechano Strider, N.U.T.Z "mech squirrel", and one of the battle chickens from Loch Modan. Those also will be the ones I will be taming once the patch hits live.
