I am glad you mapped his path, though! (Something I was unofficially doing too. You have great taste in pets!) That's a great resource for the community.
The information will eventually make it to other major resource sites like Wowhead, since that's how things generally go. Posting here first will give hunters a better opportunity to grab him before the masses move in. I don't believe his spawn timer is too terrible either, since he was always up when I looked.
I hope he turns up again for you soon! And thank you for thinking of us.
Update: Corrected one waypoint and added about 60 more. Should be an uninterrupted chain of waypoints on the map.
Thanks Kalliope. I went back 4 hours later and got him. So all is right with the world.
I'm also aware it'll leak out to other sites like Wowhead eventually. I just want to give my fellow pet lovers a running head start!
For everyone else, here's some thoughts:
1) Keep your head on a swivel. The waypoints below are accurate but Muddle jogs left and right very frequently between points. I think he's gotten into some Stormstout Brew.
2) His path is counter-clockwise (anti-clockwise for my British friends).
3) Although he's a "diseased bear" it doesn't seem to slow Ol' Muddle. Mounted is definitely the way to run him down.
4) I highly recommend the Addons "Paste" and "Tom Tom" to help you apply all the waypoints to your maps so you can see where to look.
5) He scales to level so can be killed just as easily by a level 30 in the zone as you can. If you see him ... tame him quick.
6) He hits like a truck ... just like a bear should! Aspect of the turtle before taming will help ... but shouldn't be necessary unless you just came out of PVP fight. Fair warning.
7) The path crosses itself at least once and often goes between trees and around hills and outcroppings. See point 1 ... keep your head on a swivel!
8) The path is only on the Eastern two thirds of the zone ... so if you decide to ignore the waypoints ... stay over there. Basically stay to the right of Valorwind Lake generally in the area of The Altar of Zul, Skulk Rock, Stormfeather Outpost and Shaol'watha.
9) Be sure to put on Beast Tracking and check every red dot on your minimap (for the non-waypointers)
10) He is aggressive and his aggro range is pretty big so be prepared for him to charge you if you're not ready.
