You have no idea how many "I'm going to report you" trolls I have gotten and still get with my slime, really I just ignore them. And yes if the tank and/or melee ask you to change pets for any reason it shouldn't be a big deal, I've been asked to put away birds before because the tank couldn't stand the screeching.peanutbuttercup wrote:Honestly I think that would be the best resolution, to allow the lucky few to keep them but to shrink them so that they're not any larger than a normal "big" pet.Rawr wrote:I think it's ok to run around with this one, I mean how many pets have they taken from us once tamed? One that I can think of and that was a humanoid model (also a soon to be playable race) so I can understand that. I'm pretty sure all they will do is shrink them down a bit to get them in line with other large pets. I mean I still have a slime in my party half the time and I'm sure a baby dino is more of a Hunter pet than a slime is.
I don't think anyone should be paranoid to bring it out or use it but at the same time, be prepared to get a lot of curious whispers and the occasional "I'm going to report you" troll. And if you are in a group and someone asks you to put it away (I've gotten that with my fire pig, melee don't like that they can't see fire on the ground near it!) it's easier to just do that than to give them a reason to actually complain.

Re: (Hotfixed) Stunted Direhorn Tamed!
Grats to everyone who managed to get one of these. I'm so gutted I missed it

Re: (Hotfixed) Stunted Direhorn Tamed!
I still remember back in Wrath beta when the Polar Bear cub was tameable and removed, Blizz said they'd keep in mind we want cute pets... but they never actually gave us any, now 4 expansions later.
Honestly, this is one pet I really wish they'd let us tame naturally. Much like caterpilllars, they may not look fierce, but I'm pretty damn sure a baby Triceratops could lay the smack down.

A (sad) note:
Stunted Direhorns are now Untameable, period. The mob itself has been changed to be untameable in Beast Lore (and even when attacking you, the tame does not go through), showing that I was wrong, and this was a very direct and personal hotfix in order to prevent hunters from ever getting this pet again. I don't wish to discuss how or why it attacked me, simply that it did, so it can be known this was a complete and total fix.

Hmm......So Blizzard knows that it exists. Now the question remains "What will Blizzard do to the people who got the pet?". Reduce the size? Change the model?

I'm not surprised they fixed this. I'm only surprised that they did it so quickly! Seeing as how they didn't have any type of weird buff or whatever, it seems strange for them to jump on that so fast while other issues remain. Perhaps different teams working on different things.

Re: (Hotfixed) Stunted Direhorn Tamed!
It was fixed so fast because it was a game wide issue with a buff called Hysteria a player got in SW /Org that makes any player or NPC a hostile target. People were using this buff as an exploit in some not so nice ways. So they patched the buff to instantly remove as soon as the player left SW or Org.

Is that the same as the demon guys that MC you in town? I've been MCed by them but I can't control my character. I just have to hold on and hope other players don't beat me down.
Sucks that people always find ways to exploit something to gain an advantage. Although I suppose the dinos were technically an exploit, too..... ;P

Re: (Hotfixed) Stunted Direhorn Tamed!
Well here is the breakdown of it:
These were being used outside of SW /Org to start PvP battles against unflagged players etc. But also to tame these little guys. So the hot fix came very very quickly.
From MMO-Champ:
"Legion Pre-Expansion Event
We are still learning more about the event, but here is what we know about the portion that takes place in the city so far:
Players in Stormwind or Orgrimmar will randomly hear whispers offering them untold power for their services.
Players then have 5 abilities and 9 stacks of Frail Mind.
Turn Ally - Impart Dark Whispers into the mind of an ally after 10 sec. Using this ability will out you as an ally of the Legion for 15 sec. Removes one stack of Frail Mind.
When you are visible as an ally of the Legion, the guards will attack you.
Cloak of Darkness - Vanish into the darkness for 20 sec.
Hysteria - Cause hysteria in a group of targets, making them fight with allies for 10 sec. Using this ability will out you as an ally of the Legion for 15 sec. Does not affect targets that have been recently marked.
Illusionary Guise - Take on the guise of a target. This includes most NPCs, even High Overlord Saurfang.
Once all 9 stacks of Frail Mind are removed, you can use Give In To Darkness and become a Dreadlord for a minute!

Actually, a note from Dialga quite literally 2 posts above you indicates they specifically fixed the baby Direhorns. They're no longer tameable. He/she said they managed to get them aggressive through some means and they're no longer flagged as tameable.zedxrgal wrote:It was fixed so fast because it was a game wide issue with a buff called Hysteria a player got in SW /Org that makes any player or NPC a hostile target. Re: (Hotfixed) Stunted Direhorn Tamed!
Yes. The FIRST hotfix came because of the exploited buff that made them hostile in the first place. Which was the point of both my posts.Myzou wrote:Actually, a note from Dialga quite literally 2 posts above you indicates they specifically fixed the baby Direhorns. They're no longer tameable. And forgive me, this may sound rude and it's not meant to be, but Blizzard devs (more than one now) read these forums quite regularly and would have noticed this quickly and placed the fixes. Quite possible since it was still being tried they went for a total fix. Please don't get nasty with me for responding to someone else commenting that it had seemed strange why it was fixed. Which was because of a game wide buff that was being exploited.

It makes sense that they'd fix the tame flag also, since that NPC was never meant to be tameable and it means that if another exploit/bug appears in the future then the same thing won't happen again. It was just the less serious of the two issues.

I didn't mean to start anything, I'm sorry! But thank you everyone for explaining it.
