There is a very likely chance that what you've seen was indeed the Hell Hound Model



These, while controlled by hunters, are not a permanent pet and actually only available to Marksmen Hunters via the talent Black Arrow

• 
  Black Arrow Talent
  40 Focus 40 yd range
  Instant cast 15 sec cooldown
  Requires Hunter (Marksmanship)
  Requires level 30
  Requires Ranged Weapon
  Fires a Black Arrow at the target, dealing (640% of Attack power) Shadow damage over 8 sec and summoning a Dark Minion to taunt it for the duration.
  
  When you kill an enemy, the remaining cooldown on Black Arrow will reset.

The dark minion summoned uses the above model, so for all intense purposes it, would certainly look like a hunter had tamed one of these.

The Terrorfang Hound is flagged as a beast in the database, but not tameable that I saw. I checked out the quest area it is supposed to be apart of on a toon that hadn't done it and never saw one. Maybe it never made it in. Probably untameable even if it did

and search a hellhound, flagged as beast, and found http://www.wowhead.com/npc=94201/terrorfang-hound (the only blue hellhound)

and my first idea was: He is a rar spawn

and sounds like it´s not the dark minion hellhound

but I can not tell if it's true what he writes

http://beta.wowdb.com/npcs/94201-terrorfang-hound seems they are in Val'sharah (lvl 98 and 110) quest objectives so if people are seeing them, they are seeing a Black Arrow one or lying. Also you don't need to post the same info twice, we saw the 1st post, we are not ignoring it.

I really wish it was a pet. They are one of my favorite 'beastly' models. But I guess if they're demonic and mostly associated with warlocks, then, it won't be. lol. Still an awesome creature.

I truly might fall over and die if these or even just one became a tamable beast. It never would happen but it's lovely to dream.

Edit: I've wanted a hell hound /bone demon dog since they first showed up.

These are one of those "Well.... what ever you say it is blizzard" models for me.

So far they have been ....

• ♦ Hunter pets of Shannox. (Riplimb and Rageface) **Elemental
  
  ♦ Shaman pets in the barrens. (Kor'kron Flameworgs) ** Beast
  
  ♦ They've been corrupted wolves in Frostfire Ridge. (Fel Wolf) ** Demon
  
  ♦ and they've hunter pets (minions) again. (Black Arrow Minion) **Undead
  
  Also, there maybe others I've missed, but this was just a quick memory scan.

So that leaves us with only Humanoids, Giants and Dragonkins, but give them a bit more time and who knows!

I think I remember one of them being flagged humanoid in the beta but it did eventually get changed.

Clearly they are undead elemental beast demons.

I hope they one day make undead its own family and include these bone dogs as well as bone serpents and the other undead skins.

That's actually a darn good idea and even something that blizzards shown via the "mechanical" family, that they are pretty down with wildly left of center families that consist of "groups of" rather than specifics.

I'm not sure what they'd call it..

Bone Beasts?
Forsaken Beasts?
Bane Beast?
Risen Beast?

but there are a few other undead looking beasts that could shift into it.
Undead boar, Undead Eagle, and the Diseaded Gazzel is pretty dead looking
The other dieseaed beasts perhaps? Rotting Bears and wolves?
Or maybe bone spiders?

There certainly is potential there.

And with the recent shift away from unique family abilities, moving a rotting bear skin to an "undead" family wouldn't mean losing a unique bear ability because, well, they don't have one right now

Like with Goblins/Gnomes and their mechanical pets, they could make them Undead-specific where you learn a special item if you're not Undead yourself.

The class could be... Walking Beast? Unbeast? Zombeasts?

Since they do not occur naturally, I suggest "Aberrant". I think Undead and Worgen would be good candidate to be able to tame "Aberrant". Other races could be able to tame "Aberrant" beast via an alchemy recipe.
