try giving someone the item and then duel that person thats what i did tell me if that helps

edit: it also took me a couple of charges for it to work. Also be very quick with using the item.

I'm trying the Bloodmoon worgen too, and I haven't gotten a single application in the 20-30 minutes I've been here. Only possible way I can think of is getting a pet to transform and immediately dismissing it at a low level to "preserve" it, then only take it out again at 110 to swap over the buff.

I remember time-walking sometimes making a pet display a lower level, not sure if it makes it that way mechanically, though.

Pro tip to people working with lowbie mages/shammies: there might be skill failures because of the level difference. Diminishing returns mean that the uptime of the polymorph/hex will be shorter, so it's probably better to just wait a minute before trying again.

What about quests that straight up replace your pet with a controllable NPC? I know there's a handful in older content, and they were always annoying when leveling a BM hunter because most didn't respond to kill command, but I know the one for alliance in Badlands where you control all five of the Lost Vikings dwarves DID work with kill command so they seem like they'd be most eligible (plus watching a bunch of oversized dwarves rush at a target of my command was always entertaining). I can't remember the name of it or even if it was pre- or post-shattering, though, nor can I think of any others (except I know they're there! aaagh! Brain, why must you be like this?)

When you say things like "I'm trying the Bloodmoon worgen too" I have no idea what you're talking about and I assume many other hunters don't, either. So please give us detailed info so we can try out all of these awesome models for Hati!

How about this baby murloc in Howling Fjord?



It's called Chillmere Oracle, and it's a bit tricky to do. You probably need to get res sickness, as it's level 71 and has a very hard time hitting you. The hex it uses to turn your pet into a murloc only has a 3 second duration, so you basically need to continually cast your Essence Swapper until you get lucky timing.

Bonus: it makes sounds when you click on it!

While doing this I met another Hunter who said he got the worgen Hati in about 2 hours, also take off your clothes, no really it helps.

I've tried with no armor and with rez sickness, about 30 minutes total, never got one debuff.

This may be a good starting point to finding other NPC abilities that transform you. Not everything targets player/pet but might find some interesting stuff.

Leper Hati! The Leprous Servants in the catacombs near Naxxramas will turn you and your pet into leper gnomes for five or so seconds pretty frequently. There are three of them pretty close together in one of the rooms, which increases the chances of it applying to your pet at the correct time. There are multiple versions of the leper gnome look so you may have to give it a few chances if you don't want combover gnome, but Hati will stick with whichever version he gets. Recommend backing up out of melee range because something will interrupt the essence swapper cast and while not being in melee doesn't solve it entirely, it does lessen the issue somewhat.


Invisihati! I highly recommend not keeping this one because this REALLY toes the line (by which I mean, not only is he mostly invisible, he's INCREDIBLY hard to target—I haven't had any luck clicking on him, and /tar Hati puts a reticule under him, but the nameplate's nowhere to be found). The Anub'ar Webspinner in the first pack of trash in Azjol-Nerub will wrap someone (including your pet) and after three seconds will stun them for ten seconds or until the web wrap is broken; feign until the web wrap starts casting (which will give you 13s until the effect wears off, which is plenty of time) so you aren't the one that ends up getting wrapped. I thought this would give the wriggling sack model but in retrospect it makes sense that it uses the invisible model. The trash in ICC that does the same thing didn't actually land any of their web wraps on my pet, though they tried to several times; I know there are other mobs that also do web wraps but invisible Hati scared me off of trying any more of them, lol :x

It's actually not that hard. I got it on the first day with this trick. All you need to do is gather 2-3 oracle and its a lot simpler.

I hope that whenever they do eventually hotfix this, they do so delicately and not something drastic like "Hati now reverts to his normal look every time you summon your pet" or some such silly overreaction.

Edit: Oh wow just saw the invisible Hati. I was thinking of trying to web wraps myself. Unfortunately it looks like were heading into exploitable territory.

I may have been screwed out of getting the green slime from Sholazar Basin in the past, but I was NOT about to let myself miss an opportunity to get the silliest and happiest slime of all as a side pet.



Hati is now a Poop Elemental, and its grin cracks me up every time. I was torn between this and a sheep from polymorph, but Poop Hati was too funny to pass up.

I vaguely remember a quest that turned my pet into a ghostly copy of my character. I wish I could remember what that was now so it could be tested too.

Final Edit:
It worked! It took a long time, but it worked!


1. Head to Sunwell Plateau.
2. Clear up to the Eredar Twins.
3. Find the Cataclysm Hound.
4. Move your pet so that it aggros the hound, and faces AWAY from you.
5. Spam Essence Swapper, recasting if your pet does not get polymorphed.
6. If you get Withered Touch, Play Dead and Feign Death for 3 minutes to lose the debuff.
7. This takes a LOT of RNG, since it's a level 71 enemy trying to polymorph your 110 pet.

It just takes time. The Cataclysm Hound casts every 10~ seconds, and Polymorph lasts 10 seconds without diminishing returns, so use the Essence Swapper about 4 seconds after you see a breath if it hasn't polymorphed your pet.

I was looking through the site and saw other pets that we can't tame for reasons so am wondering is it possible then to go find these animals and use the swapper on them to make Hati look like it cause right now i am thinking of banging my Horde 100 to 110 just to get this since I wasn't able to get the baby direhorn and don't want to miss this chance even if Hati doesn't go back to normal why I am picking carefully what I want to swap.

From my understanding the essence swapper only works on a already tamed beast. Not a "wild" one. So it wouldn't work.
