don't expect to be able to keep getting this pet, and I wouldn't be surprised if they removed them like they did the worgen model, because obtaining either of these requires an exploit.

A GM even posted to someone on the forums to avoid participating.

adjusted post she'd done arena and the pet I guess 'poofed' - trying to confirm the details - apologies for semi-derailing this - ok it was no longer in her 'call pet' on her character, so I was considering the same for this perhaps if done arenas or timewalking?

Most the time if using a pet like these anything such as arenas or timewalking will make it go poof I read where those oil stained wolves became normal after players ran those this could be same case.

This isn't a spell or a debuff making the pet like this, it's the model. I have tested in arena's and pet is safe in there. Obviously can't test in Timewalking but, as I said, because this isn't a spell or debuff but indeed just an unusual base model, we should be pretty safe.

I saw rawrs' post too I am not sure what caused it for my buddy I really don't... like I said earlier I did an arena skirmish dismised resummoned and even after, was still there, was just trying to help with the info in that folks would know where to / not take their pets was all. Although it's completely unknown if we'll be able to keep either... crossing fingers it's like the direhorn and they will.

Agreed; I'll be devastated if we can't keep them. This is one of the few unintended tames I got to participate in (after losing the Ooze, I've kept a close eye peeled) and it'll really suck if I can't keep him.

I do hope we can keep these. If silkworms are a viable pet, how are puppies not? No offense to those that love them, but the silkworms are a bit ridiculous. I'll never understand why those are legit, but the grubs are/were not. And I'm still salty over my grub mysteriously disappearing while I was inactive. But I'm not bitter. No. Not bitter at all. Anyway. Even if the puppies are deemed unfit, how can they take the scorpions? They're not so different that regular ones. And I hope Blizz did pay attention to the way the community worked together on this.

Edit: This sounds like I thought the pups are ridiculous. That was not what I meant. The pups are adorable. And the silkworms have a certain charm, sorta. But I 100% support the continued existence of puppies.

I'll be mega bummed out if they take them, honestly. But I'm hoping that they won't. If people are still running around with the slime and oil wolves and the baby direhorn and a ton of other pets, it would be pretty hypocritical to let those be grandfathered in while these ones aren't.

Especially the direhorn, since the 'teleporting to the Isle of Giants to get aggro on a minipet' is just as much of an ~exploit~ as this was.

Yes.

There are still groups being made and summoned AFAIK, but any newly-spawned creatures will be untamable. There's a limited supply of these pets that haven't respawned since the hotfix, and those are the last ones that will probably be tamable.

I didn't think this would be treated much differently than most of the unintended tames of the past. We've certainly had some screwy ones, like the ooze and direhorn, but when a blue starts throwing around words like exploit, I ain't comfortable with that. I'll throw this pup away in a heartbeat if this is going to be an actionable offense. Its silly and unintended, but I don't see how its any worse than hunters running around with an ooze (which I see nothing nothing wrong with).
