The hydra

Unread post by Lt.Swifty »

As most hunters are, im a collecter, i love collecting rare and special pets, but i joined late to the party by a long while. most of the time, i didnt care (the worgen pet sounded hard to tame, and i dont really like the look of worgens) and most other pets (such as the serpent) have gone from becoming rare to common. however, when i saw the white hydra, i knew that he would be mine. i look down, and see he's not tameable.

Raaaaaaaage!

At first i thought i was upset because he was rare, but then i realized that i really liked the look of him. the 3 heads, the perfectly white body, it was all so cool! do you think there's any chance of blizz making hydras into proper pets?

I honestly don't know. I really hope they do make them tameable, just cause so many people want them, but with Blizz you never know. Sometimes they seem to bend over backwards to make the players happy, even if it doesn't fit the game, but at other times they just flat out refuse. I guess it really comes down to how much they're willing to change their vision of the game/class/whatever...

I managed to snag a hydra before they made them untameable, and they're really great. They have a TON of personality, much more than a lot of the other pets in the game. :) I am definitely crossing my fingers that more hunters will get to enjoy them!

I managed to get him a week before they made him untamable, and then the ooze the day before they made him untamable... I still have both of them! unless hydras become tamable in Cata, I will never let him go! I just like hydras too much :P

I suppose if they make them tameable in Cata it'll be for the best. i wonder what talent-tree/Family skill they'll get. i would presume they're going to exotic...

Gah, come on Cata :(

Another sad hunter here who missed out on the lovely Hydra. I would also love it if Hydras became tameable. Of course, those who managed to snag the spirit would still have a unique pet (what with the transparency and all), so there wouldn't be any issues there. It would be neat if they had some type of special attack that involved it's three heads - Triple Bite? Extremely uncreative name, but you get the picture. Hydras also come in some absolutely lovely colours as well. For example, black, red, bronze, green, even violet!

Also Swifty your avatar terrifies me. *cowers in a corner*

I agree with Kayb. Sort of. It's a 50 /50 and yes part is selfish. I really hope they're made tamable because I've always wanted one.
But at the same time I don't want them to become like wolves or certain cats and be bellybuttons. Even if they're an exotic, I'm sure they would be, there's still a good chance everyone with 51 BM talents will have one.

Come on Blizz! More stable slots and new pets already.

there going to be like that nearlly any rare pet is like or fancy looking pet is like that nowadays if it looks differnt you have to have it. I'm not down with that i rather have a pet skin that not every one wants and those seem to be basic ones nowadays(imo they tend to look cooler anyway). I remmber the time when it wasnt all about haveing the rare skins :(. I'm still hopeing for hydras and theres 3 really nice skins the 2 rare WC ones(1 purple and 1 red) and that lovely green one.

What, like tons of people don't already tame the same "rare" pets? heh heh!

And let's not forget about the Outland version hydras, all funky and alien looking.

I'm another one who missed out on the crocohydras. I'd tame one in a hot minute if they became officially available. As long as they ate fish.

Possible Hydra special: Wishbone. Each head bites down, and pulls in a different direction.

Gief me hydra. NOAW.

Anyone else notice that the hydra colors match existing dragonflight colors? Literally, like same shades as the dragon's scales?

I always noticed that myself. Makes me wonder if they were some mutated offshoot of the dragon family that evolved on their own?

Not to be rude, but I'll take a pet with real abilities and stats over a Hydra who "thinks" he's a croc any day of the week.

HOWEVER!

The day they make Hydra's a real,honest-to-goodness pet,I'll be all over them like Bees on honey!! HALF NOAW BLIZZ! KTHNX!

I kind of wish my Hydra was Ferocity so I would use him more =/

They're marvelous and rare pets all at the same time!

But it certainly does break my heart when I tell inspiring curious hunters that he is no longer tameable :(

Give the hunters hydras! But... keep the ghost one special? :3

I have always wanted to tame a hydra ever since I saw one outside of BFD way back in Vanilla. I always thought they should be ferocity since they have 3 heads. Tri-bite or something like that as their ability. Although that would also make them good for tenacity like a bear's swipe. lol Spaz attack - causes the hydra to flop/spin causing damage to up to 4 enemies.
