Saving pets before the world explodes?

Here's something that's been at the back of my mind for a while.

Let's suppose it's patch 4.0. We've gotten our new talents, and more importantly, let's assume we've also gotten the new improved stable which lets us keep a lot more pets.

There's going to be massive upheaval when the Cataclysm occurs. Well, that's what I assume. I know that my stable doesn't have all the pets I want to keep. For one, I had to abandon my Arash-Ethis windserpent to make room for another pet. And after Cataclysm, will Arash-Ethis even exist in Feralas any more?

What pets would you run around Azeroth to add to your stable, just in case they disappear into the lava, come Cataclysm?

I've got my clutchmother, so I'm good. The only other pets I might tame would be purple hyena, black windserpent, and maybe a frostsaber (Winterspring is next to Hyjal, which is getting a massive upheaval).

Omgosh, so many, Id go get Giggler again for sure, Clutchmother, The Beast before that changes, Kurken, the list goes on. More stable slots cant come fast enough

Meh, I highly doubt anything will go into extinction except possibly the Purple Hyenas, which are nice, but not my favorite of the family. And, even if the Clutchmother or Ghost Saber vanish, I have them on my second hunter so I'm pretty set.

The one other one that might go extinct would be the rare Silithid in Shimmering Flats. Since that area will be flooded, and the only other ones are available in the AQ raids, they will be harder to get, or impossible if the AQ raids change or go away as well.

Also, you never know what oddball pets that Blizz might take away with all the changes, so best advice would be have all your favorite pets tamed.

Another thing... we are likely to get the 4.0 patch before Cata actually happens, so if we do get expanded stables, we may see that before the actual Cata events, which might give us time to go on a pet-taming spree...

Well the 'cataclysmic' changes (no pun intended) are happening slowly, patch by patch leading up to Cata I believe, so We might get the stable changes during the first eruption, or maybe right before Cata is released...

I've got a ghostsaber on a baby hunter, so I'm all set. I'll probably tame a wintersaber just in case, though.

I don't think I'll go after anything, I'm pretty good. Nothing out there I'm dying to get, and I don't think I'll miss anything when it's gone.

My Snorts aren't leaving my side because I have this deep down feeling they'll be gone. Azzere may be gone.

Right now I am facing the absolute tough decision of letting my Clutchmother go to tame The Beast and I'm running out of time. I fear him being gone more then her. I have no doubt that next weeks maintenance will bring another update that to us hunters could be good, could be bad.

So the only one I plan on getting extremely soon is the Beast and that's only on my main. I will probably do that this weekend. But other then that what I have is here till the expansion of stable slots.

But by what folks are saying is the ruins where Ghost Saber is appear to be untouched and still there. But it's unknown about the spawning figurines. So far it also doesn't appear that the clutchmother is in to much danger. Meh. Who knows.

I went out to tame the Clutchmother with my troll a couple weeks back...I was worried she wouldn't exist come Cataclysm, and then my tauren hunter is a level shy of hunting down and taming Snort...I hear the lava gash that will be made in the barrens is directly through his spawn point...sooo I'll have him soon...I don't believe anything will be happening to the ruins of the ghost leopard, but I have her on my belfy hunter...just in case!

Too many to name... Anything that has a unique or nearly unique skin, I'm worried about, regardless of whether that area is supposed to see big changes.

Because I am paranoid, I went to the only hunter I have with stable slots left, an Alliance hunter who has been level 26 for oh... almost 8 months. I've decided I MUST save one purple hyena, and one pink tallstrider for myself in some way in case Cataclysm comes and they are forever gone.

And so, Wyndward the night elf began her slow long ride on her slow mount through Astranaar, down the Gold Road, and even managed to ride the Great Lift without being killed or flagging for PVP. Moon Guard US isn't a PVP server, but with all the 80 types riding around killing flames for the festival, seeing a wimpy, hopelessly undergeared level 26 nelf might be a bit too tempting.

And then... it hit me... I had forgotten to put my lovely ruby red flappysnake in the barn... and there was NO FREAKING WAY Wyndward was gonna dismiss her damn flappysnake. And so I rode... and rode... and rode... and got to the flight path JUST INSIDE Feralas. AHA! FIgures I-- I can now fly back to Astranaar, dump snakeface in the barn and come back.

Nope-- "you have no flight paths attached to this one" /headdesk

And so... I got BACK on the slow, turgid kittymount, noted again that somehow the camera aims RIGHT at the kittyheiny... and rode... and rode... and rode... and rode.... oh look-- the salt flats... you know, where everything is WAY ABOVE level 26...

And I rode... and I rode... and after a few panicked ziptanging, got to Tanaris. I found the stablemaster and stuffed flappysnake in the barn, got the darn FP and then took THAT flight to the Feralas one...

And THEN rode to find a purkle hyena that was level 26.

Tamed him after a few disastrous moments, heartstoned... and then rode to try him out.

NO ONE TOLD ME THEIR ATTACK SOUND WAS THIS DAMN FUNNY -- its like a mini sportcar revving!

So, since he has dash, LightSpeed the hyena is now part of the family...

Tomorrow? We go hunting pink tallstriders....

I think I'm gonna wait until Beta's out before I search for the possible extinct pets to save. I will save at least one if any do go poof. I kinda think they won't, it's possible most may just be moved.

Till then, I'm gonna play with my new red Hyena in PvP. XD

Well, as far as The Beast goes, there will always be Molten Core, your one stop shop for two headed fire breathing bulldogs. The clutchmother is down south enough that it might be safe, most of the darkshore damage looked to be centered around Auberdine. and the central area. I would be concerend for the ghost sabers though.

I did secure a tan silithid. not much else i can do without rolling and leveling a third hunter >.>

We'll jsut have to wait for the NDA to be lifted or for the beta to come out.

The reason Beast is special compared to the other red core hounds is because he keeps his Boss status and skull level, so that's why people are concerned about him. =)

I doubt very seriously Mazz (pink tallstrider) is in ANY danger of being extinct /retired. As it looks now yes it appears Strider Clutchmother is safe and I'm willing to run the risk of losing her. I hope I don't regret that. The ruins are intact for now but no cat figurines that I've heard of in people post videos of the area. Not to mention it will be right next to a horde camp.

I will be going after The Beast tonight and if that fails tomorrow night. I really want to give it my all before anymore updates hit in case he's retired /extinct or upon Cata loses his Boss tag and ?? in his name. Wish me luck cause I'll need it.

Is there going to be changes to the Scarlet Monastery?

I am pretty concerned about the safety of many of our beloved pets, too. In fact, I feel I need to make another hunter just to grab that bright-blue scorpions before they're gone, and that would be a huge stab in my heart if they were to go extinct without me getting one in time. I got the clutchmother, so she's safe. I am not really fond of hyenas so I am not too concerned about them. I am also not too concerned about those black and red scorpions because as long as Silithus will not be changed, there's Krellack, and of course, Outlands will not be changed.

Alt of mine has saved Vile Sting. He may not be unique, but I doubt he'll still be a rare as an aquatic scorpid.
