Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread

Brewfest starts on the 20th, and lasts through the 6th. Think we'll see prepatch before it ends? Would be nice to see if the pink elekks can be attacked/tamed now. I hate elekks, but I'd totally tame a pink one that doesn't actually exist. According to wowhead, they're friendly, but you never know.

In Allerian Stronghold / Stonebreaker Hold in Terrokar Forest you can see Pink Elekk when drunk, even when it's not Brewfest. While technically tameable, they cannot be tamed as they always remain friendly to you. I'm guessing the Brewfest Pink Elekk will be the same, but we'll have to see!

If they wanted to, those Allerian ones are probably the best candidates to make neutral/tameable. I don't remember them being required for any quests, though I could be wrong.

I've puked on it while drunk, I've done /rude and /spit, I've gone through my 499 toys (that copied over at least), and I've done as many things as I could that could translate into WoW when googling "How to piss off drunk people", but I'm thinking the Pink Elekks over there in Terrokar Forest aren't like the hippogryphs you get to attack you. I even tried finding enemies I could kite that did aoe damage, but they all leash too soon. I had a mouse battle pet, the pink elephant battle pet, I put on the toy that made me hold a bucket, I played every flute and whistle toy, and so on.

Maybe my ridiculous antics will coerce a certain lurker into letting us anger the pink elephants! Guardian of the Elders got to keep its name when tamed (before the UNFAIR level jump), so this new wacky endeavor of mine has to have some results!

Honestly, I've been trying the same for the Cloud Serpents on Windward Isle for the past few builds, but sadly no success.

They really ought to give us a way to tame some friendly units, because there are now a lot that are labeled as tameable but aren't because, well.. they're friendly.

In this build they actually replaced all the larion textures with higher-res versions that otherwise looked the same. It appears they're currently not quite right though :/

Yeah, I believe they're just there as a Easter Egg.

Oh wait, I was wrong about the larion skins. They're not only higher res, they're actually arranged differently. Here's a comparison in wow.tools. The old is on the left:

I guess the model skin file hasn't yet been modified for the different arrangement of sections.

Small note for folks who're going to level pandas in Shadowlands for those two uniquely-named pets; you can't use battle pet quests for extra exp. "Account" quests can't be turned in on neutral characters. RIP my sanity when leveling my new panda in Shadowlands for Zhao-ren and Guardian.

Are there any Brewfest things to do in Pandaria? I know there's a Saurok toy that draws aggro on mobs in the wild.

That only works on enemies that can be aggroed, sadly.

Alright, so hear me out on this. Gonna tap into the REAL crazy stuff. What if, to tame the pink elekk, you need to;
1. Be in a party with a warlock and two others (One a hunter with a spirit beast), and one person has the Brewfest toy that makes everyone drunk when nearby
2.You receive a summon to <insert pink elekk area here> after becoming a ghoul
3. You aggro the elekk after becoming drunk from the toy by spitting zombie juice on it
4. The spirit beast heals you, and you let yourself die
5. Elekk is aggroed on to the spirit beast, so the hunter with SB mends pet and dismisses the pet (Other hunter can tame from here if you want)
6. When you revive, you use something to heal the other hunter. Bandages for example.
7. Other hunter feigns, elekk is aggroed to you now
8. Tame beast

Not sure if this will work, especially since it's got harsh requirements, but I'm gonna get some friends and try.

You should, sounds rough, but ok, a once a year pet can be cool to keep, so I’m in once brewfest arrives

Can't find anyone on ptr willing to try this. Or that even has the brewfest trophy or whatever it's called. Bleh. Another option I can think of is getting summoned out of Antorus after getting the debuff that deals damage to everyone around you. Again, that requires people to help, and it ain't easy to find people on ptr to help lol.

Most likely this would just be fixed as soon as it starts to get used, like Blizz did to the dreadlord buff in the Legion pre launch.

Hope somebody can give Jeremy a nudge about these little guys. They're neutral and available in every color. They have a diet too. All they need right now is just that tameability switch flicked and that'd make for 3(?) new toad looks, just like that.

I'd love to see those frogs as pets. We have the big BfA toad as a battle pet, so why can't we have the small BfA toad as a pet? The options for the battle pet suck too, due to how you get them. One's a mythic drop from BoD, one's an island expedition drop, and the last (and worst color) is bought from a rep in Nazmir.
