Hi all,

Sorry for the surprise downtime, and also for my slow response in posting here. I was alterted about it late at night (in Australia) and only just had a chance to get on here and post.

Our server admin/owner detected what looked like suspicious activity on the server and he took it down, as it could have been a hack. But he now suspects it was just one of the normal update processes that was running strangely. Thankfully!

We were down again for a bit over 24 hours. I’m very sorry

The company that hosts (not owns) our server decided there was suspicious activity for some reason and shut off everything in our server. Our admin/server owner, Jon, contacted them about it and they restarted it before asking him if it was ok and apparently caused hardware damage. So Jon has painstakingly restored us from a backup. Hopefully nothing much (if anything?) was lost from the forum.

Once again, I’m very sorry for the extended downtime.

By the way, you don’t have to have a Twitter account in order to check our feed, if you’re worried the site is down. I’ll always try to post there if I can’t post here.

Upside: in checking twitter for Petopia updates I found out today is a super squirt day, so got a lot of battle pets leveling done which I had been neglecting.

Sorry for all the outages

It turns out our new hard drive failed. This was the replacement one after the previous drive failed. So either we were unlucky, or the hosting company that did the work have sourced some bad drives. I know Jon is looking at moving to a new hosting service now. Anyway, the drive has been replaced and everything restored from backup, so we should be back to normal. Thanks very much to Jon for getting it done so quickly, on a weekend and all!
